Refs aren’t horrible they were told to do this, this is another Argentina pageant show. The fact that Uruguay, Brazil and Colombia are all on the same side shows you that this is a setup. Brazil coming in 2nd place should put them opposite side with Argentina. But the way they set it up made sure that didn’t happen. As well as Vinicius conveniently being suspended.

1) I doubt Messi, the greatest player of all time and definitely better than Pele, will start vs Ecuador. I think he'll be on the bench and only come on in the second half if/when necessary. We may see Alvarez and Lautaro starting together. Argentina should still win though. 2) Venezuela vs Canada should be a banger. Canada with its high pace and directness, but without goalscoring vs Venezuela with its all-round solidity. 3) Uruguay didn't look that great vs the USA, but then it was one of those games they didn't have to win. This may be a very 50/50 type game. Although I do think that if Brazil doesn't start well, they will collpase due to the negative vibes around the team. Vini being excluded is the perfect time to just go for it, so I hope Dorival is brave and starts Savio and Endrick. Do I expect Dorival to do that though? Of course not. 4) Colombia should crush Panama. Colombia are so damn good.

Tact kind of understated Canada's performance vs Argentina in their 1st match. Canada played Argentina on an equal basis in the 1st half. Once Argentina scored their 1st goal, Canada had to open up offensively & gave up a few more chances for Argentina to score; but fortunately Crepeau was excellent in goal. BTW, Canada also had 3 excellent scoring chances. In the end, Canada lost 2-0 to the #1 ranked country in the world. Not too bad Canada! My prediction is that Canada will have learned something from the 1st match & will play an even better game vs Argentina in the Semi-finals. It still will be a 2-1 victory for Argentina.

The Brazil vs Uruguay match will be better than anything on the weak side of the EURO bracket. But as it is, tournament football is unpredictable which is why there is a weak bracket in the EURO knockouts. Why Group A is meeting in the COPA knockout bracket is weird - but at least those teams avoid the harder sides on paper...

I am not so sure that Brazil will pass Uruguay. Uruguay is playing smart football, with good teamwork while Brazil still have lots of tatical problems and still could not perform with some consistency. One may argue about Brazil performing against well Paraguay BUT Paraguay gave away three very easy goals to Brazil by some childish, stupid basic mistakes, so that score is misleading, both teams performed equally in passing, shooting, ball possession etc. Brazil was just lucky.

Estimated total number of youth in soccer development academies in Uruguay at U14 -- 105 thousand; for USA at U14 -- 2.4 million. It's the quality of training, not the number of youth being trained. We need to focus on recruiting socioeconomically disadvantaged youth--we owe it to them and these youth have much more ambition/drive. MSL/USSF needs to comply with FIFA RSTP solidarity payment guidelines, so that US youth soccer development can shift from the short-term goal of extracting fees from parents to the long-term goal of actually developing youth skills/knowledge (This actually will make $$$$$$$$$ in the long term). USSF can also get a real manager for the men's team. Jurgen Klopp is out there!

Brazil will be fine although losing vini will hurt, too bad they didn’t get the penalty vs Columbia. That said, rodrygo will go to the left, and sevinho or raphina will play right wing. Brazil have advantage in offense with both martini lo and endrick available, midfield guimares, paqueta, and their defense with militao , Marquinhos, and Gabriel will be difficult for Uruguay to break down. Goalkeeper I would take Alison, over the Uruguay keeper. You can do a combined eleven and with the exception, of Federico Valverde I’m not sure where Uruguay has a sure advantage. If Argentina dependent on Messi against Ecuador, they will lose. Although there are mismatch on paper, they are getting closer to compete against Argentina on the field. Those 0-1 lost at Buenos Aires for WC 2026 and WC2022 qualification were due to Messi's free kick and penalty respectively and both were not on-field play.
