1: Younger men approach you the most because you're so sweet and so approachable and so easy to talk to obviously. 2: Us younger men approach a cougar and we are indeed on the hunt for them as well too. When I was eighteen I moved in with a forty two year old woman. This was way long ago before the term cougar(s) was even in societies vocabulary. I was a virgin and she was married. Whenever I think of her, I do it with great fondness. She had a very cool car. A yellow Mustang with a black rag top with four on the floor. I loved that car. I loved driving that car. I'm 36 years old. I didn't bother dating until about 28 (at all) simply because I was taking care of a widowed mother and looking after my grandmother (my mother's mother) who has mental issues. I don't feel that I missed too much. I've dated 4 ladies total and I know the reason why I dated all of them and it wasn't just for sex. Kept myself a virgin into my 30's simply because I haven't found a lady worthy to give that to yet. I look for long-term and ideally for a lifetime, so when I date, I date seriously or not at all. I don't date just because I'm "bored" or just to "pass the time until I meet someone" or any of the other nonsense that a lot of ladies my age do. I won't date the "bimbo" clueless ladies my age who basically can't seem to get through life or do anything on their own, even in their 30's. Too high-maintenance and everything has to be just-so for them. They're a financial drain because they're just so immature and only care about money and living an unstable lifestyle focused on possessions. While I am 36, I'm always told that I look between 18 and in my lower 20's and I get carded for lottery tickets and cold medicine at the store all of the time. The ladies who are in their 30's don't outwardly match my younger looks, but yet I have always found older women beyond 30's attractive. My mother is 60 and people think she's in her late 30's or 40's, so looking young runs in my family and that can be a blessing and a curse. I have always found older women to be attractive because they are more mature, respectful and know how to communicate what they are looking for in life. I still look for someone my age and when I ask them what they're looking for in life, they just shrug and say, "I don't know." Ever tried the dating sites? Ugh. Most of the profiles are "I don't know what to put in this box and I feel intimidated by it." A freaking text box. They can't put a few lines in there to describe themselves, so they obviously don't know in life even in their 30's. While the cliche has always been that it "isn't all about outward looks"...I was one of the few people in my younger years who was looking forward to marriage someday even back when I was 13 or 14. Outward looks have always been no good to me if the person didn't have a good personality to go with them. In my younger years, my peers were always talking about how many girls they could get with and coworkers my age still do that to this day, even if they're married. Gets on my nerves. Older women also tend to be more bold, don't care as much what other people think and they're also someone that you can have genuine conversations with about life. You can tell that this lady has confidence and authority of what she wants in life. She knows. Now go ask a 30 year old lady what she's looking for in life and she'll say, "You know, I don't know. I'd like to maybe do x and x in life at some point, but I just don't know right now." They'll say the same at 40 and 50, too. This generation is lazy and different. At the same time, realistically, a lot of older women will "take what they can get" in younger guys. So there are plenty of those out there who are older and just want a younger guy to "make them feel younger again" and it is kind of selfish. I wouldn't want to be with an older lady who wanted me just because I was young and outwardly appealing only. I wouldn't date a cougar who only saw me as "one of her cubs" and basically wanted to go from guy to guy and seemed incapable of a real relationship, for instance. I just don't see the point. They'll brush you off and move on to the next guy. I have to have substance and commitment or I don't bother. Some of those younger men who like older ladies are looking for a "sugar momma" to get them through in life and they're not really a real man. They're looking for an easy way in life and hope that when you get old they'll get a bunch of money and then find someone their own age.

That part was very difficult. One downside to dating older women is that they are likely to have health challenges that have never been part of a younger person's life before the relationship. The younger man may get more of the emotional stuff that goes along with an older woman's health challenges than he is emotionally equipped to deal with. That can have a troubling, double-feedback loop in the relationship. All I can advise a younger man is to be very wary of the older woman's state of health. It's always more than an easy fix with meds. Choose wisely.
