I just watched the 1952 original and it looks to be pretty close only from the trailer, looks like the put more emphasis on her having poisoned. The original seemed more ambiguous. I only say it appears they put more on her poisoning because they focus on that tea a lot where in the original it's not really a focus point of suspicion until the end. *Spoiler* Though in my opinion, I think it's a situation similar to Crimson Peak. I think she originally did plan on killing him but changed her mind which is why he didn't die in the end. The lawyer's letter is what made me think that saying if the boy is that much in your heart. Says to me that she had no issue with the other but him she couldn't again similar to Crimson Peak. Doesn't help the tea aspect. I think that's going to be their angle.

I had read the book as teen. I loved the movie and watched it twice. I thought she was poisioning the guy with tea. But, I was thrown off when the girl said that the doctor loved boys. So I was confused. Did she love him and he made a mistake telling her to ride by the cliff?

You went off on such a random tangent there. The bottom line is marrying a cousin and having kids with them is incredibly common in some cultures. Du Maurier stated Rebecca was about jealousy, in fact she wrote it with her husbands former fiancé in mind, who was a dark haired beauty, who jumped off of a train at 22. Du Maurier stated she hated the fact that people thought it was a romantic/love story. Du Maurier had some issues, but who cares. This story is Gothic & she is dark, she is the horror....his.

He walked right into the spiders Web & with the help of herbs along the way....the black widow got her way. 😕 this is nothing like the plot of Daphne Du Maurier's "Rebecca". that book is a work of art, its truly a masterpiece of Du Maurier's. The book follows the story of a young girl who marries a man who used to be married to a woman named Rebecca. This film looks so separate from that that it's almost insulting to call itself by the book's name. lol ill prolly still see it tho i love me some drama.
