watching this channel got me back into making beats. I shook off the rust using Koala for a few weeks and made a bunch of crappy beats, but once I produced a few good ones in a row I spent the princely sum of $175 to grab a Sonicware Liven Lofi-12 and have been practicing daily. Thanks! I still have my old SP202 and I've been using it the same way you use the S950 here, something to process sounds through to get that grit.

Personally, watching videos like this and live streams on Twitch like Marc Rebillet and other improv creators as super inspiring for me. Don't criticize yourself for criticizing yourself. It means you hold yourself to a higher standard.

The magic box theory says that if you buy this or that piece of gear, everything that comes out of it will sound like that one old school Smif N Wessun beat you really like or whatever. People who are new to this overestimate the importance of what gear you use and a lot of opportunists are happy to let them think that way so they can pimp products. Although I have to admit, I didn't realize there was a DJ performance mode thing on the Octratrack. For what I do, that would be insanely useful.

Also Jon, in the way of having the elektron boxes have the Dante card or whatever for individual outs. Isn't that the point of elektrons over bridge program? Can't you run the outs over USB into your daw using overbridge? I swear this is a thing.

Yea tracking out the Octatrack is the main dealbreaker for a lot of people. Too much work to export to DAW, and apparently because of the way it was built it's not possible to have Overbridge just like Digitakt and others. Bummer because it is a fantastic machine indeed.

Pretty Neat Lance, pretty neat. You tickle the fancy of that octatrack in just the right way. If you were in the Boston area I would have offered to help with the screen repair, i feel like I spend half my time repairing older gear and the other half playing these days. Which sucks but at the same time I hate seeing shit like this go to the trash.

I get its a hobby but like, I feel like none of this extra tech is actually useful. If I heard this without knowing what was used to make it I would assume it was made by an amateur beat maker.
