HELLO! I just wanted to address something in this video right off the bat. Towards the beginning I make a statement that says something along the lines of "criterion is the thing if you like movies." This is NOT TRUE LOL. I have no place to be telling you how to enjoy things. This is how I express my love for film, you may do it a different way. It was an elitist statement and I apologize. I should have caught the statement earlier in my editing process and removed the footage. A less serious thing to address: I have no idea why I called my dad "FATHER" in one part. I have never done that before in my life and probably never will again. Hope u enjoyed!!

Excellent collection you've got here :) I got into collecting from criterion about a year or two ago and I've been steadily building up my collection. I always love seeing another person's collection and seeing how it may differ from mine. I also own The Silence of the Lambs since it happens to be one of my favorite films of all time. Also, thank you for your comment regarding the whole DVD vs Blu ray thing. I'm the only criterion collector I know of who goes for DVDs instead of the blu rays. They're cheaper and already high quality so I don't mind having them. Not to mention I can play a DVD in more places compared to a blu ray. Happy collecting and fantastic video :)

Great start to your Criterion Collection. Yes buying your die heart favourite movie on Criterion is a must, but I also love the hunt of finding an obscure film that I never knew about. Now I'm usually biased and most of my blind buys are Japanese films since thats my favourite genre and one I am really trying to go deep into. Glad to see you have Seven Samurai, but I never recommend it because it's just too intimidating to start with, "the greatest film ever made", even though I personally rank it #5 for Akira Kurosawa films. My personal favoruite Kurosawa film is Ikiru, but my favourite film to recommend is Tampopo.

Definitely try Blue Velvet again but if it’s not for you I completely understand because Lynch makes movies that definitely aren’t for everyone. Blue Velvet is absolutely his most accessible film that he has ever made and it’s certainly the best introduction to his work but if it doesn’t work for you then there is a pretty good chance that the rest of his filmography won’t either. Maybe try and watch another film by him after Blue Velvet (I recommend Wild At Heart and I recommend you stay away from movies like Eraserhead and Inland Empire if you are trying to get into his work because of how out there they are). David Lynch is one of my all time favourite directors and a majority of his films are among my favourites of all time so I hope you will enjoy his work but I absolutely understand if you don’t. Great video! Introduced me to a channel that I will now be sure to keep my eye on.

You may or may not be aware of this, but a large number of films from the Criterion Collection are available on HBO Max for streaming. They don't advertise that Criterion is part of it and a lot of people probably aren't aware of it. It's $15 a month, and of course you also get all of the original series HBO has made over the years and a bunch of other programming including TCM type movies as TCM and HBO are both under the ATT/Time Warner umbrella. If your budget doesn't allow for buying a lot of DVDs but you stream some programming HBO Max might be an option.

YES Children of Men needs a CC release...also, since you got Seven Samurai, please watch/buy Yojimbo. I PROMISE you you'll like it. Fistful of Dollars (Clint Eastwood spaghetti western) was sued for ripping this one off. This one is funny and cool while others like Seven Samurai are great, but of course more serious/dramatic.
