My husband works for a public school district, at an office building not a school. He tells me about the kids that come there... & because he works for a school district, he wouldn't let our son be homeschooled... My son graduated high last year, a year early. But, now he's 17 & in college with 19 & 20 year olds... If you can do it, please keep your kids away from the public school system! My son's a good kid, but I can see the school system's influence in him everyday.

I have a trans friend and we had a very long conversation the other day about sexually explicit or graphic materials being shown to kids, oftentimes covertly, in the elementary and middle systems. Well we had a long conversation about the First Amendment, and about book banning, and classical literature, and pornography inthe schools etcetera. I told him: most people do not want to ban books, but just like we have different ratings for different types of films, certain books are not or never appropriate for children and it definitely should not be available to them in their curriculum. Well, he did a lot of goalpost moving and made several leaps in mental gymnastics and I frankly told him: you know the transgender community roughly makes up about 2% of the population and the LBGTQ+ community as a whole only makes up around 7% so explain to me why only some of the 7% of the population wants to scream the loudest and receives 90% of the attention? This is not about keeping the Great Gatsby out of schools. This is about parents and their right to be informed and notified about the types of materials that are going into the schools and into the libraries and the type of curriculum being promoted. I continued: we had sex education in the Fourth Grade and to my knowledge not a single parent back then had a problem with it because they were teaching about reproductive snatomy and not promoting an agenda. But he basically tried to argue that there is no real example of pornography being introduced on purpose into the public school system sanctioned by any school board and he brought up the laws that Florida and the other states are trying to pass to safeguard against this. And I asked him: so let me get this straight, you are saying that all these parents who are speaking out in school board meetings across the nation about this content in the schools, they're just making it up or it's anecdotal at best? And he said essentially: yes because no normal person would tolerate pornography in schools. I said: Well good then, then you shouldn't have a problem with any state passing another redundant law that's going to help ensure that pornography isn't introduced to little children in the public schools. Well... He went berserk saying something to the effect of: if it was really about protecting the children, then conservatives and Christians would promote programs designed to combat childhood poverty, drugs and welfare. I said: Okay so now you want to change the subject? You want to talk about whether or not Christians and conservatives should support judt one more government program designed to tackle poverty and drugs, despite the fact that since we started the so-called war on drugs and poverty we have more people impoverished and on drugs than ever before. So just one more little taxpayer funded government program ought to do the trick? I thought we were talking about keeping hypersexualized materials from elementary school students? I followed up by saying: you know, we now have people contending for the normalcy of MAPS, we now have Drag Queen Story Hour, we now have The Gueer ABCs, (because in order to learn the alphabet it is necessary to learn about LGBTQAI+) we have books promoting, actually encouraging, sexting and celebrating performing sexual acts or favors, and we have the San Francisco Gay Choir singing, admitting, about how it's not a conspiracy that they are coming to corrupt our children, and I continued: For some reason fringe activists in the 7% LBGTQ community are gaslighting us into saying it's not happening, but then when we point out evidence it is happening they say it's not that bad just stop being a bigot, and for some reason they really really want this material pushed on little children, and often without the knowledge of the parent. There is something very wrong and perverse with anyone, gay or straight, who wants to give materials to children while simultaneously demonizing their parents for simply asking about the content. For some reason they who scream the loudest really want children to be hypersexualized and any person who thinks that this is normal or okay has no business being within 5 miles of a child.
