I have so much respect for people like Kenan and their attitude toward safety of the person and the animal. Ugh, when I saw the 30 vials of anti-venom, all I could think of was how much that would cost if Chandler had been in America when it happened. I’m sure he has some kind of insurance or the like, and hopefully it covers messing around with wild venomous snakes for clickbait content when filming them in their habitat would have sufficed. I want to like Chandler; he seems like a really fun and personable guy. But I just can’t get behind how reckless he can be.

What a cool video, Kenan. He’s absolutely gorgeous!!🦎❤️🦎 Edit: I had to come back and say how amazing it is to watch him think. You can see his brain working. He’s magnificent, Kenan. Edit #2: I’m sorry this is so long but I’m so glad you included the part about not wanting to do dangerous stuff for clicks. There are some in particular that do it that should know better. I was thinking 🤔 about that as well.. according to what I've read, they're eyes are complex even more so than a camera. They also like a dog/bird keep their ears(or ear holes close to the ground) unlike a jaguar that "weaves its head* from side to side looking for an opening, and monitors dont attack from the back of a prey whos looking at them(but they attack looking with heads looking downward,in arc than weave their heads from side to side, looking for a reaction not another opening than attack again from the downward arc position) and yes the light and dark might have thrown off Chase focal receptors..

Nobody should feed a Croc Monitor with their hands, really shouldn't feed any big lizard with their hands. They can do just as much damage as a small gator or crock and nobody's stupid enough to feed them by hand. You can really tell the difference how professionals at zoo's handle certain animals especially when feeding them compared to some idiots on KZbin who treat their reptile like it's a domesticated dog or cat. Then when the animal does accidently bite them it makes the animal look dangerous they never look at the idiot owner. :-(

That's why Florida(Game Wardens and Fishing& Wildlife) look into these cases and track these owners down(and yes, even without social media or a forum online) those conversationalist or Wardens of local/Exotic wildlife can find your channel, address and close you down(and than inform KZbin) if you are being way too cavalier with these dangerous animals .).. Komondor dragons are superimposing..and people want them? If you can not handle a Perenti, Black Throat or a Iguana you got no business owning a Croc Monitor or Asian Water monitor, and you definitely couldn't handle a Komondo.. Btws, the 10th or 15 Emperor of the Ming dynasty in China had Humongous Komondo Dragons pulling his own personal chariot when he rode into villages greeting, meeting wanting to seek some new young Maidens to one day marry (these are same ones of today but are way smaller) *Remember Oxygen levels before the Revolutionary Way and Industrial Age, was 400 times cleaner* Animals grew wat larger.. The Emperor has his own komondo dragon feeders and tamers(but as of right now) they don't use that mode of transportation that's why they are all on the island of Komondo and the smaller islands ..

I think that some keepers in places were they can keep them outside in huge enclosures seem to be more cautious with their animals because they don’t have to have as many close interactions as people who keep indoors. And by that I mean indoor keepers can’t or shouldn’t keep animals that they are nervous about handling often. I would never hold it against anyone for being too safe . Handle your animals the way you want .

Chase risked it for the biscuit! 😂 Perhaps attach a chicken wing to a piece of croc chow with (easily digestible) fine cotton thread, moisten it on the tongs then try it. Reptiles don’t always accept new food items right off the bat. It’s also not good to totally change any animal’s diet immediately, even a “treat.”

I also dig how you kept the interaction going after he bumb rushed your feet. ha ha. I treat my reticulated python the same way. They are definitely smart enough to learn that a certain behavior will alter or end an interaction they might not be in the mood for or they'll connect the dots and learn a behavior for a future desired outcome (for them). It's like getting bit by a snake. If it comes down to that happening, the best thing to do is to stay calm, and basically don't react in a flighty way. Otherwise they may be reinforced to do it again. I think this monitor has the potential to be quite interactive when he's not in a food response mode. He's hard core though. lol. Plus it's just as important for you to continue the reaction and end on a hopefully calm and controlled note for your sanity. I followed that principle every time a student tried to kill me in a helicopter. Gotta stay in the saddle....giddyup!
