I don't dry any of my clothing in the dryer. What I will do is air dry them then toss them in the dryer with a softener sheet for about 20 minutes to soften up the crunch. Your new Lamma hoodie really accentuates how much weight you've lost! It looks amazing on you!

Whitney, I love your Waffle Pattern coat in the plaid fabric. The Itch to Stitch sweatshirt is probably the best sweatshirt pattern I have ever seen for a women and one for us large busted women. Your choise of fabric has always been a favorite of mine as you really know what fabric to put together with what pattern. You have a really good eye for your designs and I am learning to put my patterns with my fabric, thank you for your continued help when it comes to that. Take care and God Bless you and your family and stay warm. It is only 19 degrees in snowy Mankato, MN. I am due for a shopping trip SR Harris..

When we lived in upstate New York we referred to it as “the land of many coats”! There were many people who only saw me in a coat. And, winter weather (snow, sleet, dirty cars) requires you to clean you coats often - you need alternatives.
@TomKatStitchery4 жыл бұрын
Yes!! You would definitely need a wardrobe of coats living up there!
@AdirondackRuby4 жыл бұрын
Born & raised in the Adirondacks. Can confirm. You need AT LEAST four winter coats (two "nice" coats [black wool peacoat with hood] and two that are more suited for the slopes [and snowball fights]) because you never know the occasion, plus one might be dirty or soaked through...you must always be ready. Being well-versed in the art of layering is a must to survive winter in "the great white north".

I love them all! I am anxiously awaiting the moment I match colors, flattering shape and fabric like you have, someday . . . . . . As for drying laundry I figured out to toss things in the dryer for 10 minutes and then hang them to dry. It removes the crunch factor for me without the heat damage. The time in the dryer might need adjusting based on how hard the water is. There's not much worse than air dried towels

I have collected up all the supplies I need to make a warm wool winter coat to help me survive the upstate NY winters. I plan on interlining the coat between the wool and the kasha lining with thinsulate which is dependably very warm (which I did locate at a reasonable price but very expensive shipping rate considering the actual weight is quite low) and currently I am trying out various techniques for the linings, facings, shoulder pads, hidden front button placket, all new to me. This coat is turning out to be such an interesting and challenging project, perfect for filling the long hours of home time these days. I am enjoying your coat sew alongs as some of the techniques are also a part of my coat project. Thanks so much!
@Timpsonsews4 жыл бұрын
I just spoke with vogue fabrics. I got the shipping down to $22 by using fed ex. That’s for six yards. I also live in very northern NY. Not cold yet this year, but it will come.

I’m so glad you’re enjoying the coat sewing! Your project sounds like a lot of fun that will produce a very warm coat!
@farmwife79444 жыл бұрын
@@Timpsonsews wow, wish I had thought of that! I ordered the Kasha then went back months later and swallowed the bullet on shipping to get the thinsulate. Closet Core Patterns has a tutorial on using thinsulate to line a coat. I have decided that I will sew a very light weight interlining, then add pieces of the thinsulate into each section, sewing close to the seam lines, then using that lining as the back of the Kasha lining fabric, treating the two linings as one, if that makes sense. I didn’t want to apply it directly to the back of the Kasha only because I don’t want the stitch lines to show where I am adding the thinsulate, but I plan on stitching in the ditch to secure the two linings together before I place them into the coat. I am using Vogue 8841 and there is a full workshop on that pattern in Craftsy, the paper pattern is included in the cost. He adds a hidden button placket , doesn’t use thinsulate but that style coat will easily accommodate a heavy lining without having to alter the pattern or go up a size.

I put my jeans in the dryer for 10 to 20 minutes with a dryer softener and then I take them out and hang them to dry. I also do that to my husbands jeans and for him we stretch his waist band. He buys a 34 waist which is just a little tight, 35’s are hard to find. We just need to give them a good tug which helps them to fit just right. You can also pull the legs to make them longer. They feel much better than jeans just air dried.

Do you think I could line a boiled wool coat or jacket with polyester fleece? The fleece does have some horizontal stretch while the boiled wool has none, of course. I’d really appreciate your opinion because this’ll be my first attempt at a non-beginner pattern.
@TomKatStitchery4 жыл бұрын
I think it could be done. I would caution the sleeves, though. While you could definitely line a sleeve with fleece, it will cause your clothes underneath to catch. I prefer to have my sleeves lined with something slippery as it’s just easier to wear. Another thing to keep in mind is that the fleece will cause a bit more bulk so you might need to size up the pattern!
