My current cue was made by Cornell Benally of Phoenix, Arizona. Please know Cornell does not usually make custom cues to order. Any quality cuemaker can construction a light, well-balanced two-piece cue as shown in this video. Cornell can be found on Facebook.

Earl's cue is like 28 min is like 26. I use an aluminum metal extension in the center that I had made. I don't believe that a couple onces one way or another really make a difference, but whatever you thinks helps you pocket balls more go for it.

Thank you for posting this video, the nerd in me finds this stuff really interesting. I'm 5'8"" and play three cushion, and my cue is a little shorter around 56" due to the shorter carom shaft, and it's perfect length for me. However, there are a few very tall three cushion pros (coincidentally all Belgian), Eddy Leppens, Roland Forthomme, and Peter Ceulemans who are all around 6'3" or taller and they all look slightly awkard playing with standard length cues. All three are very talented, but none have been top-ranked players in three cushion, kind of that second tier below the top guys. I can't help but wonder if they would have benefitted from this type of lighter two-piece butt that Cornell has made for you.

I'm pretty confident it would have.

I’ll have to film my stance, we are about the same height, I went from a center shaft extension, to a longer rear extension, messing around with weight a lot etc too. Now I’m playing with a 30” shaft and 29” butt, somehow my head is lower and I’ve increased the cue weight to bring it back up to what it was with my extensions. I really struggled with my stance for a long time, but somehow it just clicked and I’m playing my best right now. I play with a wrapless cue, and my hand must be near the back but it’s comfortable.

My bridge length is pretty long too, this is why you got me thinking, how did I make the basically standard length cue fit me lol

Does a heavier cue have a negative effect on the cue-ball action in some way, or is it just a comfort thing?

The theory goes you can generate more power with a heavier cue, but as the video said, the cloth is so fast now it’s just not needed. I personally enjoy a heavier cue (20.5 ounces for my Cuetec). It’s completely a feel thing for me. I don’t have to “move the cue as much” to get more power. I’m fairly strong though, and a guy I play with who is about a foot shorter and 30 pounds of muscle less tells me he feels like he can barely swing my cue, and 20.5 ounces is not that much. I played with a LOT of different weights before I found what I liked. I had the weight bolt kit and just adjusted and adjusted until I was happy. Edit: I must add that I primarily play on 9 footers. When I go and play on a fast 7 footer I really dislike the weight of my cue. I sometimes take my extension off (taking the weight down to 19.5 ounces).

I always thought the cue should have some reference to height of person like golf clubs..
