I wonder if your customers customer was foreign, am not being racist but have had similar things from foreigners, the last one was when we changed the brakes on a car and the customer came back 4 weeks later insisted 'we done something that makes their car not start in the morning', the one before that again a foreigner claiming to be a Dr this time insisted we swapped the battery for a duff one, we pointed out that the car was still running the original OEM battery... in the end we had enough and price the job high if we suspect the customer is going to be a problem, so they go elsewhere.

Sad state of affairs when someone has two PS5s (even if one faulty) then tries to wangle a third, by conning innocent third-party.

I'm guessing they bought the second after the first was damaged, and want to get some money back by scamming Phil's customer out of a new unit that they can sell.

You can match the images from the other shop to your initial triage footage to prove it is the same console.
@matthewjenkins11617 күн бұрын
Unfortunately the first question that would be asked in court, is how can they be certain this is the same console. No individual in the chain of hands it has passed through could state that definitively and therefore it would just waste the builders money even further.

I mean it is reasonable to think the screws would have signs of being open and the tamper sticker is messed up. They have pictures of the freed motherboard. But yeah it's unfortunate that people try to take advantage of others and scam insurance companies thinking no one gets hurt. The contractors premium is going to go up because of this.

I felt bad enough over 10 years ago when I broke my tv (paid £300 for it used it was worth £1200 new only 3 years before and was still selling used around what I paid) and there was gap of a few days between policies and it happened but still waited 2 weeks to be safe before claiming.

Nice video! "Clean up your flux people, you have to" . . . Yes, i learned that the hard way, i repaired the L and R buttons of my PS Vita, and i had random button presses and the buttons wouldn't mostly react to my presses. Culprit? The flux. I dunked the boards in IPA, and my problems were gone. So you do have to clean off your flux.

@ 24:00 You're not at all concerned about that BAS16 (A6) diode on the bottom right (as we see it in the video) of the HDMI port that's missing an entire corner?! It was obviously chipped/broken when someone tried repairing the HDMI port previously.

Insurance companies here in New Zealand don't take the product that you're claiming insurance on they just leave it with you and tell you do what you want with it they do check it of course to make sure it is not working and it can't be fixed but otherwise they return it to you plus a replacement.

reminds me of a vid artisan electrics put up some time ago, they were working in a customers house and noticed a scratch on a wooden table and one of their team set a pair of gloves on it, the owner of the house seen the gloves on the table and accused the them of causing the scratch, so they ended up having to pay for the table to get a French polish out of no fault of their own

It’s very unfortunate that people do things like this . I work in construction in the United States and things like this happen often . People think that because it’s a company that they have a bottomless pocket . The money aside , the morals behind it are even more disturbing. What bothers me is that this kids parents were fully aware of the scam and signed off on him doing it . Good way to teach your kids right from wrong . Those parents should be ashamed of themselves. Remember, what goes around , comes around. Karma always finds a way to even the score .

Yeah, people can be pretty terrible like since a while. I work at local ISP and due to digital TV services, our field technicians also help customers with stuff like setting up TV and so on. And oh boy, did they very quickly learn to take photos or videos of job they did. Because we had people call in, all angry, how our technician broke their TV or whatever, demanding payment for damage and so on... of course once they learn that we got it recorded being fine and working, they somehow very quickly go from angry to apologizing. Because it is mostly cases of them hoping to scare company into paying to prevent any sort of reputation damage, or something happened they could pin on our technician, or they were hoping to get new TV out of it. So they made up a story and in some cases even thought no one will check. Sadly they can get away with it because companies don't want bad press and try to retain any customer, because if it was up to me, I would be totally for ending their contract immediately, blacklisting them and potentially publicly shaming them, so everyone knows what kind of person they are. And every other ISP knows who they are doing business with, if they decide to. Sadly you need to get pretty bad to get blacklisted.... then again, if you don't know when to stop, I have seen it happening, when someone yelled at someone from management bit too hard. Like funny thing is, they could get like super good treatment if they knew when to stop, instead of contract termination and blacklist.
@Futur1zmАй бұрын
I reckon they have done the "repair" on the hdmi got ot working hence the factory reset, it has then been dropped post repair and theyve claimed liquid damage. Either way your customer is 100% not to blame, sad times we're living in.

Phil you claim to be a money grabbing youtuber... i call BS because you are completely 100% fair with how you charge your customers. Most techs would probably charge the extra labor. Lol. More techs need to be like you and have your ethical standards.
@border056Ай бұрын
Hard stop, your customer should be going after the person that took advantage of them. I would take them to small claims court. The only issue would be proving the chain of custody from when the customer received the console in that condition to when it got on your bench.

Would you care to elaborate some, as I have a sensation that you have an inspiring story to share, that may end up saving someones life

Sad that this world has become the hotbed of scammers. I work at a bicycle shop where my boss takes away the customer's hard-earned money(most of our local customers live in poverty) then he says they can ride their bicycles. But those bicycles are absolute cr*ppy and obsolete contraptions, with no good quality parts available for them, and a few times their frames were damaged, too. He never allowed me to tell the truth to anyone, because then he would not earn enough money. Now THAT is a BIG scam.

Man do you repair elite series 1 and elite series 2 Xbox controllers I have one elite 1 the RB button is broke and 2 elite series 2 controllers the RB is broke on them also i don't understand I take care of my controllers no throwing or smacking around thanks
@mark.stone.Ай бұрын
Just thought I'd say, if u pull the front off your elite 2 controller. Look at the button the RB connects too. There's a small gap behind the button which in turn over multiple presses causes the legs on the button to move. I filled that gap behind the button leaving no room for movement now both my RB and LB buttons work great.

Halo lol, but brand new out of the box I had issues with the RB or LB. Either not registering presses or multiple clicks instead of one. Halo could of made my situation worse, but the fix for me at least was a bad design from Microsoft.

Five minutes in: Naaap, that this is what a board looks like when the HDMI has been changed and it's been used for a bit. Good call, mate. I had a PS5 Slim board in for the 3rd HDMI replacement (talk about regular customer!) since April. Looks just like that x 2 - no matter how much you try to clean it by hand, that's how it looks on those bits of the board. The only mitigation I try these days is to be less frivolous with the flux and try not to spread it about as far when cleaning up.

Small claims court and then name and shame the fraudulent saddle sniffer, in fact I wonder if the owner didn't commit a criminal offence of fraud at least. Also if I was a contractor I would whisper the name into the ears of other contractors effectively blacklisting which means the console original owner will find it difficult to get folks to work for them and certainly cost them in pocket far more than a PS5.
