Hearing a console that’s only four years classified as getting on a bit and having issues working is bad when you can turn on a sega or nintendo console from the early 90s without issue and still works as the day it was first switched on makes me glad i was born at the right time when consoles were at their best

@@instahawk8422 To be fair it's the recent generation of consoles it seems. I had an early release Xbox one and it's still running now, no problems... I do also still have a working Sega mega drive 😅

My oldest console is a Dreamcast, then PS2, followed by GameCube, original Xbox, all of them still functioning. The first console I had that went wrong on several occasions was the Xbox 360 with the red rings of death nonsense. Since then I am 100% PC gamer.

Got shocked a far bit back when I did TV repair. The CRTs are the worst, we would discharge them with a couple of crossed screwdrivers (holding the insulated handles, with one on the frame, and the other slid across it and under the anode cap). They have a tendency to build a decent bit of charge back up again, so gotta remember to be careful to not poke around the anode a few minutes after discharging. My boss at the time did the best one. He had a TV face down on the bench while he was discharging the tube, but he'd forgot to turn the TV off first - 27KV of sparks and a ruined pair of trousers later, we all learned a valuable lesson. Of course, we also used isolation transformers on every bench to minimize getting shocked, but you still gotta be careful.

Nice to see you're OK mate! Worst shock I ever got I was messing around the back of my arcade machine my hand touched the anode that connects the flyback to the tube via spring hidden by a suction cap. It was like a hard reset, sat me straight down and it was about 5 seconds before I had recall of what just happened.

My sons xbox series x powered off and died recently. A crackling sound followed by a burning smell then shut off. Upon inspection the burning smell seemed to be coming from the two pin connector at the back for power supply. So i took an absolute novice punt and bought a new internal power supply. Followed a KZbin how too, also renewing thermal paste on cpu. Not sure why, but it was recommended. Put back together and it works!!! 😊 Anything more complicated and I would have been up the creek without a paddle 😅

You got a shock from the main filter caps - which of course hold a DC charge, that is why you could not find the source of your shock testing for AC. If you had tested for DC i bet you would have found 200v or more still stored in those large caps. Sounds like you were lucky and only got the shock across your finger - the real danger comes when you touch +V with one hand and complete the path to ground through your other hand - that is when the current travels right through your chest to get from one hand to the other. That can be deadly.
