Is it possible to use the gateway V3 and charger to power my home in case of an outage or would I need a different gateway? I read online that the V3 gateway does not work with solar for some reason.

What happens if the power goes out and the truck is not connected? Can you connect the truck and get the power to turn back on or dose it have to be connected before the power goes out? (Black Start) This would also be good to know because if you are in an extended outage, can you take your truck somewhere to charge back up to continue powering your home if its battery gets low and come back an plug in to power things up again? If you had solar, would it offset the amount of power needed for your truck? Like if your PV is producing 2kw and the demand is 3kw will the truck only provide 1kw? Same if it produces more, will it then charge the truck instead of drain it? Basically the truck acting like a Powerwall when connected and off grid.

Yes, you could plug it in after the fact. Problem is solar wouldn't power it enough. However, worst case scenario is to drive to a supercharger every two days and fill up

@ no it’s not. It’s simple math. You are getting a max of 11kwh. 48 amps x 240 volts with some loss. You have a 123kwh battery. Do the math. 123/11 =11. You would get 11% per hour in a perfect world but usually the truck only gets 10-10.5kwh wile charging. Do the math. You are not getting 15% per hour.

The EV market is shrinking largely due to a lack of confidence in the technology. Having a dual purpose for your EV is where the motor industry could turn it around, but many don't have this function. The only other cars in the UK that allow bi directional is the Mitsubishi Outlander & Nissan Leaf. V2H (Vehicle to Home) and V2G (Vehicle to Grid) will revolutionise the energy industry. The concept of virtual power stations will become a reality whereby everyones car will have this function either powering your house or feeding the grid so everyone shares the EV battery power.

Carmakers are under pressure to meet the UK government's ZEV mandate, but some say that the mandate is unintentionally restricting the new car market. The charging infrastructure is poor here and people are buying more hybrids for their range advantages. I love the idea of having an EV that also powers your house, it's just not available in the UK.
