Great to see the story behind and result of a particular R&D project, thanks for sharing 🙂

Great story and super cool to see your progress! I went through some similar challenges when modifying the elite c shields to use a rp2040-zero controller board, but thankfully they have a 5v line and regulator on board so I had fewer issues with the 3.3v change! But great that there are now officially supported rp2040 builds!

Where can you find this flexstrip?! I can't seem to find it anywhere that's of any meaningful length outside of retro computers.

Nice one, I had no idea those are not supposed to be hot swappable, as the result I also burned my communication port on splinky. What if the voltage pin on trrs cable is on the end of the connector, closest to the cable, so when cable is inserted voltage pin is the last and there is no way to send 5v or 3v to any other pin?

Thanks ! Yeah, depending on the speed and angle at which you take the connector out there might still be a short. 3V3 should not damage it though, but there might have been a short with the usb and then you'd get 5v as well.

Nice work! This kind of hardening is important. Also on the prototype it may be good to leave some probe points. This video has some hints: kzbin.info/www/bejne/raW5k513lq6eg5I
