You know you done good when your *adult* child *chooses* to have you as their parent. We generally don't get to choose our parents or our children but when given the chance to honestly choose if we choose what we were given it's a miracle....mostly children and parents are just a default and by chance shouldn't expect too much compatibility so it's extra special when it all works out! No excuses: you have to love what you're given, but let's all stop pretending that it's the same as a chosen love. To have both is genuinely a lucky lucky thing.

+Biomirth-I'd argue in a way we do choose to love our parents. Sometimes we have to, sometimes love is in the "contract" to stay in the family. Most kids though in the end, even if they had to choose, would still pick their parents. Now that I'm older and they have grandchildren now, I get to really respect, appreciate, and love my parents even more. They're not perfect, we're far from a perfect family, and they're still way too overprotective on all of us :D but they raised my sisters and me the best they could, they've always fought and sacrificed for us and they only wanted us to be happy. They're still our best friends and biggest supporters, and if I had to "choose," I wouldn't choose any other parents than the ones I have. You can just tell how much love this girl has for her Daddy. Whether she was adopted or not, he's always just been Daddy for her, she doesn't want anyone else, and she finally wanted to make it official and make the announcement memorable and it sure was. You can tell Daddy was trying to fight off tears. :*). And I'd argue that's what so special about adoption. Sure, the parents didn't give birth to the child but in a way, they still chose to raise their baby and their baby is every bit theirs as their biological children. It is sad in some ways but hopefully, when their parents tell them, they will understand that their baby is still every bit theirs. We still wanted you and we'll always keep you. There's nothing wrong with that. Love is not dictated by blood. You may not chose who your family is but you get to choose if you love them in the end, I'd argue, and if you want to "be" in that family. And this girl did choose her family in the end too and she let them know she always wanted to stay with them. :*).
@Biomirth7 жыл бұрын
You make some good points. I guess that after having grown up with one's family the 'choice' is less obvious. What I was getting at is that if we had no family at all, would we choose the one we happened to have? Almost nobody would. There is something about adoption that has an element of this and it makes this story all the lovelier. There *is* a choice and people still choose to love.

caveman Versace so what you're telling me is if you find a person you love and want to spend the rest of your life with you should just leave that person because they have children? How does that make you sound right now... I feel to see how someone stepping up and caring for other people is what's wrong with the world, you are what's wrong with the world
@devils_reject826 жыл бұрын
caveman Versace oh man you must not have been loved when you were a child LOL. So you are just going around saying every woman in the world sits on their ass. Well women like me and many many others work their asses off with their spouses to provide for their families. That's what I do. I can't tell you the last time I didn't work overtime because I love my job. So take your assumption that all women sit on their ass and shove it. And how do you know this mother that met this man in the video doesn't work? I guess you have psychic powers to where you can tell what everybody does or thinks? get the hell out of here with all that mess. You have no idea how many women actually do help provide for their families. Just because you may have met someone like that doesn't mean you can say all of us women are cunts as you say. If that were the case I would be so bold as to say all men are dick head to leave or cheat but that's not the case. You are obviously just a better person taking it out on the world

Things I love about this video; How she keeps looking over and smiling at the camera, you can see how excited she is for this. How they bicker and tell each other to shut up so they can say their side of the story. That’s real family! How the room reacts and awes when the surprise is revealed. His genuine reaction and face and tears. Beautiful. How Race isn’t even a thing that’s mentioned in her speech about their relationship, because love is all that matters and when a father and daughter are real that’s all that matters. This is a beautiful family and A precious moment. Thanks for sharing!

Well done for totally missing the point. Firstly, technically any man can be a father, deficiencies aside, but simply impregnating a woman doesn't make a man a "Dad". That shit takes work, commitment and sacrifice. Secondly, you seem to be assuming that a step-dad is some sort of home-wrecker, who's forced the kid's biological father out. Which is total bullshit.

Sometimes a person's natural parents don't want to be in their life. I have known several men for one reason or another abandon their children. My uncle found another woman and he left his ex and his daughter in terrible financial hurt. My parents took them food and other necessitys. I have had co-workers who didn't want to pay child support, so they relinquished parental rights. I knew a guy who just took his wife and two children to a homeless shelter and went to his new sweetie. I have seen women who weren't ready to settle down and just left their kids for Grandma or someone else to raise. Then there are the ones like my mother who fed and clothed me, but as she put it, "I never cared about you, I didn't care if you needed anything or not". She would tell me how she only took care of me until my dad got home. Sort of a built in baby sitter.

From the day he met me, my (step)dad has ALWAYS treated me as his own. He has one biological son, but always wanted more children. When he married my mom (I was 16 at the time), he surprised me and my little brother with vows to us, too. A few years later, we were talking about how special I thought that was, and he told me "before you were even born, I had wanted a little girl, but my first wife refused.. now I know why things ended up the way they did - YOU are my little girl, and always will be, and I love you" He didn't come into my life until I was 15, but from the get-go, he has always been more of a dad to me than my (abusive) biological father. He's the one I call Dad, he's the one who I never doubt will be there for me, no matter what. Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad. I'm 26 now, and would still love for him to adopt me officially. (he would, if I asked him to.. this video gives me ideas!) This video made me cry..

The amount of effort that she invested in wrapping all those boxes and then packaging it all together, to enhance the experience for her dad, demonstrated in a practical way the extent of her love and appreciation. I never had my father growing up. Until the age of 15 my mother met the greatest man that would come into my life. Even though I was pretty much all grown up he called me his daughter! Omgz I can't begin to express that joy and excitement that a man would see me as his own! He was ALWAYS there for me whenever I needed him. He understood me to the T. He was my dad and my best friend... But sadly I lost him almost 2 years ago on my bday.... I remember being on the phone with my mom while she was at the hospital with him... He was in a coma... He was brain dead and there sadly was no hope... I begged and begged him to hold on but my words soon became silent... NEVER will another man ever take his place.. I adopted my daughter when she turned 18. People assumed I married her (from the court pictures), and others demanded to know what the point of it was - as it was an adult adoption - not understanding the feeling behind it. Sad to say I learned who my friends and family were that day, and it soured the experience.

Sakyosha thank you for being a father at heart. One of the greatest testimonies of manhood is to love a child that didn’t come from your own loins......many don’t understand the significance of belonging...of unconditional acceptance that goes deeply into a human soul, especially a child who has known rejection or absence of a biological parent. Thank you for healing your daughter’s soul....don’t let anyone or anything distort the purity of your intentions. That young lady knows what you’ve done deep inside her heart. You are blessed.

When I was 4, my mom starting dating this man. He took me, and my 2 sister’s in like his own. I’m just gonna say, we had a very messed up childhood. He never wanted kids, yet he dealt with our problems no matter what. Now I’m 13, he’s been married to my mother for 4 years. We really wanted him to adopt us, but my birth father won’t allow him to. It’s heartbreaking.

Took a long bit of watching with all the packages but Dad's reaction was worth the wait and absolutely priceless! A brave man is not afraid to cry! Only a coward fears tears! This is just one of the many signs of a good father but this guy was obviously a great one for this young lady to love him this much! SCORE Dad! Excellent role model to all the other dad's out there who don't get what a REAL dad is!

This is a great story and has hit home and my heart. I have raised my daughter since she was six. She is now 25. The only regret I have is i wish I would have adopted her. We don't need a piece of paper to show how much we love each other not one to tell me I'm her Dad. But I really do wish I would have adopted just to show her how much she means to me.

Your a lucky dad. But she’s a lucky girl you’ve been there through the good and the bad. There’s many of biological fathers that walk away and don’t look back. So it takes a real man to be there when “legally” he doesn’t have a be. But being there physically is one thing, but it’s obvious you’ve been there emotionally also! You can tell by how she said throughout it. I’m not sure how long ago this was from. I just wanted to say it was sweet. Merry Christmas and I hope you all have an amazing 2018!!

It takes a real woman to not open her legs to any guy and actually choose a man who will stick around for the baby.
@kelleyariel75107 жыл бұрын
e13kid is this supoosed to be an insult to the mother of the daughter because woman don't expect men to leave them when they have child
@e13kid7 жыл бұрын
KellyAriel75 Not the mother of the daughter in the video since I don't know their circumstances, that was a more general comment. Too many "women" date the bad guy they know won't stick around when they have a child. They CHOOSE to be single mothers.
