He clearly upset, but at least she didn’t seriously get injured or killed. It could have been way worst? No point in in crying over spilled milk, better to move forward, especially on a material item that can be replaced. I be more upset on the irresponsible act and that she could have hurt, or killed herself in the process, or even someone else, then the car. Plus he can recoup some of the lost in selling the parts and put towards a good condition one down the road.

When I was 15 years old, two of my friends of the same age, took my one friends dads Porsche Carrera out for a joy ride when his parents went out for dinner. He then wrapped the car around a telephone poll at a high rate of speed, killing the passenger. He was being charged with vehicular homicide, but he committed suicide a couple weeks later. They were both really good kids, they just didn't realize how much danger they put themselves into.

Welcome to fatherhood. Had a brand new riding lawnmower that I loaned to my neighbor once. He brought it back in perfect condition. A month or so later I walk out and noticed the exhaust broken off the head and everything else calliwackered, headlights, hood, grill. Went for years thinking neighbor just helped himself, hit a fence post wide open and brought it back without a word. I was a little upset but thankfully never said a word about it. Had a great time push mowing 3 acres that summer. 15 years later... daughter owns up by letting it slip.... we had the fastest mower in the area. Racing around, her and her friend rolled it off a hill, pushed it back to the house and never said a word. Glad your daughter wasn't hurt and as I've always said. If that's the worst thing you ever deal with consider yourself fortunate.

Probably the best thing that happened to you. I bought a dodge neon for my daughter to drive to high school. On first time driving to school, her purse started slipping off passenger seat, diverted her attention and she took out a post office mail box where the insurance coverage check was. Damage $500 plus $150 to post office. BUT she is 36 now and never got a ticket or accident. So this valuable lesson was priceless at a very small cost. So the is probably the best day of your life, the prelude served you well.

A few years back my step son got his license and I reluctantly gave up my extra car (2004 Focus zx3) so he could show responsibility and drive back and forth from school. About 2 months in he decided to grab some mcd's on the way home and apparently couldn't handle eating while driving as he missed a curve and jumped a ditch and ended up in the field. Luckily the corn had already been harvested so there was not property damage other than the busted focus about 100 ft into a muddy field. I was able to pull him out with my truck but there was enough serious damage to basically total the car. We didn't call it in though because his rates would have just gone through the roof so I ate the loss. When he made the call to me he was shook up and practically in tears and while I was a little upset inside I didn't drill him and at least he was fine. The vehicle can be replaced and usually its a pretty good lesson to the kid.

We all survived but I don’t know how I did the tree smashed 10” into the drivers seat. My parents were away with family visiting from Scotland. My Dad came into hospital, shook his head and said I’ll never trust you again. He died last year, I’m now 52 and I’ve never and will never be able to laugh about it. It changed my life sadly.

Her second or 3rd outing with it she took down a road 2 fast with 3 boys in the car (she was on probation for passengers) lost control and launched it 25 ' up where it barrel rolled twice and nosed into power pole 11 feet of ground and came down on passenger rear corner. Rollover bars went off and may have hit one of the boys in the back because he didn't wear the seatbelts. They all survived bumps bruises and a fractured back on the one boy. That was june 9 2016. what actually matters here is the daughter came through okay. I had an '81 Albuquerque Edition Ram 150. My kid brother rolled it end-for-end on his way to a TxANG weekend, threw his passenger out the window, totaled the truck. Once I got over the shock of that call from Dad ... I had had the truck 10 months ... I was glad the kid with him survived, and so did he. But to quote George Strait, "I'd like to have that one back." 318 with a 4-in-the-floor and Alpine stereo, and working AC.

When I was a kid, I filled dad's John Deere lawn mower with water. I removed the gas cap, slipped the garden hose in, and filled it because I thought water and gasoline looked the same and must've acted the same in the motor. I remember that day well.

My wife and I had a somewhat similar experience, but with a different twist. We bought a Honda Prelude for our daughter to drive while she was attending university (Red, naturally!). She drove it for a semester and a half, and we thought she was doing well with the car until we got a call from our insurance agent, informing us that our daughter had received 5 (count 'em; 5) tickets in 4 months, including one for "exhibition of speed"! Long story short - we got her a much older Ford escort to drive, and (Sing along to the old Beach Boys song) "And she had fun, fun, fun, 'til her daddy took her Honda away!" So, we feel ya, Bro!

So glad to hear that your daughter is ok. Having destroyed my dad's car when I was young going around a corner too fast in the wet, and having experienced my daughter doing the same to my car, I can relate. It is part of the cycle of life.

Carter me wants to find that funny. Fact that my adopted father on more than one notation did try and fail to do so and not with good reason either. If I had done something like this and I don't mean this metaphorically speaking he would've put me in a wheelchair.i had a racing go carts at one point he being an idiot spent quite a bit of time fixing and working on fiberglass body panels that were on it,th first time I had it out i got the gas petal jam at one point had an accident with the thing doing between 60 and up. He wasn't the least bit concerned with whether or not I was okay basically all he gave a damn about was I made a mess of the work he had done and he did brought quite a decent job out of beating the hell out of me.i got lucky that by the time I was 14 or 15 he know i wasn't in a position for him to get away with that crap anymore short of being harmed in order to do so not that it stopped him a few times from making the attempt with a kitchen knife or other things over the years.its why I've gone out of my way never to have kids and one of the only things that actually in any way fathers or scares me his children. I've had most of my ability for a motion driven out of me from what I grew up with to the point that their are people who legitimately think I'm a psycho path where they've been around me during the wrong situation and see me intimidate or scare somebody who was mentally unstable and much bigger than myself strictly for the fact I have little to no register Little to no emotion during high stress situations. I'm that guy people like to stand behind wean shit hits the fan but I'm not the guy they go inviting to Christmas dinner with family or the same reasons. Irony is I'm not even a big guy i just generally don't have much left in need for social interaction for the kind of things that normal people take for granted. One of the few things that still causes me what I would consider feer is being around other people's kids. Lost track of how many times ive had somebody's kid with out warning off and mail me in the groin or something like that their parents immediately thinking it's totally hilarious, and I never know how I'm going to react to something like that Yemen just how damaged I am in general and I'm automatically afraid that I'm going to lately lose my crap or say any number of obscenities or worse.

@@peterparker6584 Yeah seems to me the Car Wizard was acting like he was in the first hour after learning the news looking at his attitude in this video. Of course the kid is totally to blame, should learn etc. but the damage is done, its over, so get over it, the kid won't learn from half a year of grudge... She could also learn very much from forgiveness. The amout of times he repeats that his daughter is at fault and how bad she is isn't painting a nice picture TBH - just my opinion, nothing personal nor a definitive judgement. EDIT: well, then I unpaused the video and the next second Car Wizard is more down to earth and totally cool-headed :) Taking back the comment ;)

My dad had a Suburban with a 454 that we installed an intake and 4 barrell Holley. I took it out and got caught at 120 mph. I got pulled over right in front of my best friends house ( in the center of town). The sheriff knew of my dad and didn't tell. Luckily the judge also knew of my dad, he let me off on a conditional release ( no record after 1 year) but I had to pull hay in his field. He told me he didn't want to see me get whopped by my dad. My dad never found out although I did tell my mother years later. We had a good laugh over that. Glad your daughter is OK and you seem a bit more level headed than my dad.

In 2017, my grandfather gave me the remaining $2500 from my father’s divorce settlement towards buying my first car. That car was an automatic 5th gen Prelude….that car changed the way I saw cars, driving, and frankly having fun. My transmission blew at 155k and I sold her for $500. Worst decision I ever made. I 100% can empathize with the pain you felt losing this car. Well, 4 years later…who’s to say we both can’t find 2 out of 58,000 cars made? 😅🤷‍♂️ loved your Prelude videos good sir!
