This is wonderful! I hope it's Gil Chae. The opening flashback should be of the two main characters. She should be the one waiting for him. Just a little correction, Hooge refused the throne that's why Fulin was picked to be the next emperor. Dorgon and Jirgalang were the regents.

I’ve wondered if the grey-haired person in EP 1 is Gil-Chae. If you read the lyrics for the OST, you have two songs from the FL & ML and they’re both songs about waiting for their loved one. Is Gil-Chae the person in the jail/mental ward from EP1? 🤔 Did not realize the irony of the small knives Gil-Chae is selling! That’s an added layer I love

Ok throwing out my wierd theory here..btw. I'm glad you found a site to watch this drama on, I could not live without my Viki up here in rhe States. If this is based on GWTW as they say it was I don't think we are done with our FL first love quite yet...in Gone there was more "Ashley" moments and I think his spying in the court will force Gil Cha to save him so as not to hurt her bestie's family, remember they still owe her for saving the prince. Regardless I am so happy I watched this amazing drama.

BTW, I understand WonMu behaved as he did because of the belief he was bought up in during that era but I still think that he is a jerk. I don't know what is worst for him not going to the slave market at all or going there, seeing how terrible is and still just left even though he was supposed to love GC. Now of course JH is just the best , I love that scene where he told Rang Young that she should not be ashamed of crime done against her when he was helping her to escape as a captive. Actually what he said to Rang Young about how if a dog bite you, you are the victim and the dog should be blamed and not her, was the gist of what Gil Chae said later to people who made nasty remarks to her and Jong Jong at the Market.

Indeed he was! And it was a ground for husbands to divorce their wives but it would be interesting to find historical sources showing that husband chose not to divorce their wives on this ground

Hey, actually in wiki it says Jang Ok Jung's father's name is Jang Hyeong. And her mother was from Yun clan. 🙈 I know this Yun is not a simple family tree. they are a generation where concubines and queens came from. Yet the coincidence was really interesting. Cause jang ok jung is considered as the most beautiful woman of that era. And if these coincidences are real, we know whom she got that beauty.😌🙈 BTW i am wondering why they didn't care to introduce grandprince Bongrim? As per history he was the frontman to crown prince when he was in Simyang. Led all wars on behalf of him and protect him. And we know in the drama who is resemble to that. So at one point I thought they going to say it is Lee Jang Hyun the second prince. But that contradicts many things specially the age. And I am happy if he is not related to the royal. But one more thing, the drama first start in 1659. And that's the last year of king Hyojong!🥲 okay sorry if I confused you all. But this was something I really wanted to discuss.😂🙈❤️

Oh yes but the 장현 jang hyeon that was the basis for 이장현‘s character was 장옥정 jang ok jung’s father’s distant relative (5촌 당숙) who was actually a 여관 interpreter. Don’t think Wikipedia has this so maybe that’s why it was a bit hard to find haha

to the second point, it’s a drama where writers can take some creative liberties I.e inserting 장현 and 길채 into the mystery behind 소현세자 crown prince’s death
