Honestly I came to think about people in our faith who were crucified, killed or tortured for just being a christian. This understanding of martyred people made me adamant to give up ongoing sin in my life. I am free of tobacco for 6 years and fentanyl about 15 months and I have decided to live in "purity" for two months. How could I continue in sin when Jesus died for me? People need to understand what is meant by the Logos/Word. Some coffersike Muslims and atheists claim, falsely, that John was plagiarizing Philo. That is not just not true, but reflects a lack of understanding the history of the concept of the Logos in Greek thought. The concept began centuries before Philo fine tuned this concept. It began as a non-personal power behind the structure, beauty and order of the order of the cosmos. It gradually became a divine power, and then Philo saw it as a divine, personal power behind the origin of the cosmos. John then seized upon this to use their own thinking to make it an analogy that explained who Jesus is, to a Grrek culture. Israel was still heavily influenced by Greek culture, or Hellenism, from the time of Alexander the Great who had conquered all the known world nearly 350 years earlier. That Hellenistic dominance still was prevalent, and is why Koine(common) Greek was still the lingua franca , or most prevalent spokenlanguage. That's also why the NT was written in Koine Greek originally, and why John uses Logos as an analogy to portray that Jesus was that personal, divine power behind the universe....and we use the English, Word...the Greeks and most everyone would be familiar with this concept, and, therefore, understand exactly what John was saying about who Jesus was...God incarnate.

In the Greek the word is not grasp, but snatch, take fast. Same root word used for the rapture. This verse is saying that the Son did not on fear consider that His Godness/Godly nature, was snatched from Him, but that He willingly gave it. Connect that with the fact that He emptied Himself out and you can understand better the incarnation of Christ... The devil hates this verse and almost all translation strangely do injustice to it.

There is an Issue in the Old Testament. The God, Lord etc that we see in the Old Testament was Christ. God the father never spoke or appeared to anyone cuz no one can see Him. Ezekiel was allowed to see a glimpse of His glory. Jesus is the God of 70% of the Old Testament. “The Lord said unto my Lord”. We have had issues distinguishing these Lords.

Yeah, I think he overstated it to say that the phrase is ONLY a divine title. In Ezekiel, the phrase seems to be used to emphasize Ezekiel's humanity in contrast to God and his glorious Presence. The key is to emphasize the language that Jesus uses along with calling himself the Son of Man. For example in Mark 13:26 and 14:63, he says that he, the Son of Man, will come on the clouds of heaven. That makes it clear he is talking about the Danielic Son of Man.

I like your zeal and style. When i hear the phrase son of man i see it literally meaning son of a man. In the book of Daniel and Jesus himself, refers to himself as son of man so how does son of man also mean son of God? I am a truth seeker and only want to believe the correct truth and just doing my homework in case the new testament Bible has been manipulate over time. I dont want to trust my faith on the words of fools or wolves so using the Helper and some sleuthing to get it right. What i know for sure is Jesus was in the service of the creator and was made new after death. I dont see a period of peace come during or since Jesus' time and this is a fact right so either the "peace" that was prophesied about came to another realm outside of earth or we still awaite the messiah right since no lasting peace has come to Israel. I see a bit of varying claims of Jesus' Godness throughout the gospels and Jesus himself was cryptic cause whenever he was asked about it he said i am the son of man and he said when we pray to God say "our father" because God is the father of mankind right. I think there could have been motivation by satan to change biblical dialog over time. It would take a miracle to have it all right yet because this biblical opinion was given me in the form of a transcript from a young age i must find the truth where it matters and where it has been revealed. Jesus never authorized the printing of words attributed to him so we must make sure what we read about him is what was said and done and is accurate.

Therefore, Jesus will be speaking to us through the medium of his original teachings-the Christ Letters or A Course In Miracles-to describe his life and his teachings over 2000 years ago. But most people-even Christians-do not have the capacity to listen to Jesus because of their fanatical and stubborn adherence to cherished beliefs.

“When I hear the phrase son of man I see it literally meaning son of a man”. With all due respect, it doesn’t matter what “we” think it means. The Jews understood: 1) the messiah to be divine/ God(isaiah9:6;Jeremiah23:5-6;micah5:2;isaiah7:14;psalm110:1-6;etc., and 2) the son of man is the messiah. It is our job to understand what they understood. Not bring our new ideas to replace their original understanding. The Son of man is not supposed to mean ANY SON of ANY MAN. There is THE SON OF MAN who is a specific, UNIQUE SON OF MAN. It is emphasizing THIS SON OF MAN, as different from all other SONS OF MEN. Hope this helps.

You say Jesus is that person they indicat in those verses yet Jesus never had the government on his shoulders nor did he have a lasting popularity within his own people. @@MrBigdaddy2yaI will help you with the first verse because I believe you to be sincere. *Before I do, I will say it again, the Bible says the Jews, as a people, had an advantage over other nations because they received the revelation of Gods mind and desires and judgements to follow. (Romans3:1,2) Anyone who wants to know God and be blessed by God SHOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WHAT THEY KNOW. It’s not enough for us to pick up the Bible and use our limited personal experiences to decide on what things mean. To understand what the Bible means in any passage, WE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THE WRITER AND THE AUDIENCE. We have to understand what the Jewish people understood about this verse. THE JEWS WERE NOT WAITING FOR MULTIPLE PEOPLE TO LEAD. They were waiting for ONE PERSON to fulfill all of these MESSIAH VERSES. They are called MESSIAH VERSES because the JEWS (not you and me) SAID SO, and because the New Testament part of the Bible REVEALS IT TO BE SO. Isaiah9:6-(and verse 7) “FOR UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN”, “UNTO US A SON IS GIVEN” -At the very least, we can understand that there is SOMEONE WHO WILL BE BORN THAT IS SPECIAL. He is not born yet, he will be born in the future from the time this verse is written. The Jews understood that they were waiting on A SON (not just any son) who has not been given to them yet. Lots of sons HAVE BEEN GIVEN, but this ONE PARTICULAR SON is so unique that they needed to eagerly anticipate his arrival. “and the government shall be upon his shoulder” -this is called a PROPHECY my friend. Yes, the Bible does this. There are more than 300 of these prophecies in the Bible. The writer would predict the future, then die, then the prophecy would be fulfilled later. Prophecy study is the singular reason that every human being on Earth should believe the Bible logically comes from God. Even the atheist historian will admit the Bible was written over 1400 years by different people. The historical events are also not in dispute. King Cyrus was a real person. Sennacherib was a real person. We have artifacts and archaeology for these people and places. Only an intelligence, that is more powerful than time, and death, (and humanity) with the ability to arrange and influence history, can speak (before it happens) and then make a prophecy happen in the future. In other words, God. When you ask the prophet who gave him the prophecy, they all give God the credit, not themselves. (Isaiah44:24-26, Isaiah55:11). To make a long story short, the Bible says Jesus WAS BORN KING(John18:37, Matt2:2), and is REIGNING IN HEAVEN RIGHT NOW(Colossians1:12,13;Revelation1:9.) Whether you believe this or not does not make the prophecy false. In the end, the world will wait until he returns to show that he has been reigning as King this entire time.(Rev17:14,19:16;5:10) “and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” The second crucial thing to understand, is that THEY THOUGHT THIS SON WOULD ALSO BE GOD. Describing him as “The mighty God”, and “everlasting”, these are more reasons, even in this very verse, why they did not think it would be MULTIPLE PEOPLE rising up to lead. They did not believe in MULTIPLE GODS. The ONE GOD would have a SON OF GOD who would also be the MESSIAH / CHRIST, the anointed, chosen person to fulfill all of Gods desires and plans to save the world.

Sounds like Wes is making an argument that Jesus is the father. This would claim that there is no father and son duo. Just a God who is both?! This doesn't hold water. As far as Jesus being A God, there is nothing wrong with that point.
