Things like this are actually really common in restaurants (at least in Austria, that's where I live (in case you don' t know it: It' s near to Germany, we also have the same language)). When my mother was young, she was working as a waiter. Somebody from the restaurant she worked in bought salmon. Weeks went by and nobody ordered the salmon, so somebody threw it away. On the next day a customer ordered the salmon. One employee just took it out of the trash bag, cooked it and brought it to him. My mother never found out what happened to the costumer.

Let's be optimistic: Maybe the customer managed to catch an earlier bus because he didn't have to wait long for the chicken. This bus had to brake really hard because some Madao was lying in the street and a woman accidentally fell into customer-kun's arms. The rest of the ride was awkward but when they had to get out at the same stop they both laughed and exchanged numbers. They have a kid and a dog now, are really happy and for each anniversary they have dinner at said restaurant, eating chicken (they also had their first date there)! :)

And then there's my country where it's actually illegal for kids/teens below the age of 18 to work. And when/if you by some miracle manage to get a job,no one's gonna hire a rookie as young as that (think ages 18-23 lets say). I'll be lucky if I find something by the time I'm 25. It's really fun to hear from people who can find a job at that age though. You can gather a lot of useful advices and experience.

What country, if you do not mind sharing? I am in the United States, and if you get working papers, you can start working at age 16 legally - though not full time. Every country is different, so it is interesting! My first legal job, at 16, was at an ice cream shop. hahaha
