Not exactly onion related, but our teeny flea bit unorganized town now has an Indian restaurant. Owned by a Sikh and staffed by his close family. Tried their naan for takeaway last night. Now for the connection - as to be expected they have a chutney. Between your sow and the new restaurant I may try your recipe even though I’d be the only one eating it 😁 Thanks for sharing Steve!

And here's me thinking you might make the onion bhajis LOL I always get caught out by the Lime Pickle at Indian restaurants - sooooo hot!

Hi Diggy -Looks like you had a good crop of onions this year. I think mine are going to be the same as last year. Nice plants but don't bulb up. Anyway, that recipe looks really good. Love to sit down on a Sunday afternoon watching the footy with some cheese and crackers and a cold beer. I reckon that chutney would fit in well. Cheers from down under. 😋😋👍👍

Oh yes, cheese, crackers and chutney. Only one thing may outrank that, a nice ploughman's lunch. Big wedge of cheddar cheese, a torn off chunck from a crusty cottage loaf, soft butter, pickled onions, chutney and of course a pint of warm real ale 🙂 I may have to make one very soon, Keith!

Just came at the right time for me as I was thinking about chutneys and stuff to have with cheese and cold meats. No Maslan pan here so I’ll just use a big, heavy based pan and watch it carefully. Fingers crossed I get something edible. Thanks Steve. I’ll be looking for something similar with other ingredients too. Not made chutneys before.

Good luck, Donna! Chutneys really are easy to make. It's all about finding what flavours you like, at the end of the day. Let me know how it goes please - and have a great weekend up there!

hi did the tomato one and my customers love it doing plum chutney etc because i sell it i put allegin labels on them

That is awesome! It is a pain that mustard is a declarable allergen. We used to use a mild chilli as a substitute in the canteen at work, just to remove the need to notate *MUSTARD* on the labels

Hi Steve. I'm going to try that chutney. I did tomatoe chutney for the first time last week! Wow... it's lovely. Are the jars ok on the oven to sterilise? Thanks for sharing 😊🫶🏽💚 Rach
@DigwellGreenfingers3 ай бұрын
Yes they are. Wash the jars and lids in soapy water and rinse (or dishwaher them). Put about 3mm of water in the bottom of the jar, rest the lid on top of the jar not screwed down. In the oven at 110°C for at leat 15 mins.

They will be fine! Or you could try my red pickled onion (not pickled onions!) coming tomorrow, or marmalade, jam, relish coming next week LOL

I love caramlized onions on my hotdogs 😋😋. WOW did someone let you loose in a kitchen gadget store 😂. I had heard extra virgin is a faff, it’s great for say salads or things but burns too easily when cooking with it. ☄️☄️☄️ chutney, happy gardening and cooking, Ali 🌞🇨🇦

Yep, EV Olive Oil is best used neat on food, as a dressing. It's smoke point is way too low for most cooking and if you are putting it in things like pasta sauces then you are just wasting money. Mega expensive here now - £9 for ½litre!
