Sinister Entity is a Third-Person horror game, the events of the story will take place in the era of the eighties in Egypt, the hero of this story is a girl named (Salma), the daughter of Dr. (Adham) the archaeologist, Salma’s mother died in a strange accident, and two weeks after the death, Salma was shocked by what she saw, her mother came back to life and the demon has possessed her. Salma's task will be to get rid of this evil entity, after discovering that she will not be able to get out of the house. Egypt in the 80s.
The game contains many puzzles and mysteries, and the game will also contain escaping and hiding from this evil entity.

Definitely and even though I never saw it Evil Dead Rise and this is obviously inspired by Ju-on or as We Americans know it as The Grudge. Honestly, even with all the little bits of silliness (the voice acting, the not quite animated scurrying of the demon), this was quite a fun little game! Didn't overstay its welcome, got some good scares in (and varied, too, with how many different ways the demon could pop up!), and managed to not drag on. I think if Mohammed and the person behind Despair Blood Curse got together, they could do some neat things with one another - DBC could benefit from how neatly contained this was and how it had some puzzles!

The biggest disappointment of the game was not being able to enter the bathroom. Janky or not, this was a fun little game. Jump scares were pretty good, and I like that the demon kept you on your toes, popping up sporadically (except when you got each tile piece). The look on Salma’s face when the demon opened its mouth and the tongue dropped out was the best poker face I’ve ever seen. Pity she couldn’t have been like that every time she screamed.

Yeah, that's what I noticed too. Usually short indie games don't bother to animate the face or making cinematic cutscene, but this one do. Despite the janky animation, It still feels immersive

Agreed, absolutely. It’s very refreshing to see a character whose gestures mirror her emotions, and with such an expressive face. The impact is especially noticeable compared to the last two games Chris played, one with awful AI voices and the other with a completely non-reactive protagonist!

I liked this one a lot! The B-movie style effects and voice acting have their own kind of appeal. The fact that it was more stealth based makes it feel more like a horror experience as opposed to action with combat. Decent scares and tension. Especially impressive coming from mainly one developer. I look forward to seeing more from them.

This one deserves a GBU review... The Good - There's a LOT to love in this: 1. The graphics were excellent, as was Ibrahim Aljenibi's score. In fact, this game has been touted as one of the most graphically advanced indie titles to come out of an indie Arab studio. 2. I know foreign VAs aren't everyone's thing, having a foreign actress for Salma was appropriate, and Dina Fahim did a pretty good job (she even managed to convey emotions properly). People easily forget that it's not easy for an amateur VA to perform in a different language like this. In many cases, the VAs for amateur or indie productions are reading lines without any context - not even a storyboard or scene notes - which is why emotional cues are often missed. 3. There were also very few translation errors compared to most foreign indie games. 4. Mohamed Alanisi singlehandedly made this game in just over four years (the release date was two months after the project's fourth anniversary), yet there's more quality overall than most AAA games made in the same amount of time. Just let that one sit and stew for a while... 5. The ending may be a disappointment to many, but it made me instantly think of The Fog (the original one, not the crappy remake). Classic slasher and '80s horror movies often ended with a surprise death blow, and cutting to black as Salma plunges the dagger into her own mother really matches that vibe perfectly. It also gives us a perfect jump-off point for a sequel. The Bad - Those cutscene animations were perhaps the worst part of the game itself. I don't mind some jankiness, but the way Salma's model completely failed to cover her face when screaming was really bad. On the positive side, that jank kind of worked for the mother. Also, while her teleporting was likely due to the model getting stuck and timing out, I think having some form of despawn animation would've made those accidental moments a lot scarier and actually believable. Simply popping out of existence during the despawn only works when an asset's not in the player's view. The Ugly: The length. Honestly, this was quite a joy and I feel it actually did a better job than Remothered in many respects - especially when it's from a single Dev. I kind of wanted more out of it, but not necessarily a longer time as Salma. Instead, it would've been great if there was a bonus chapter that unlocks when you beat the game that went back and let us play as Adham (the father) as he realises his wife hid the artifact, watching her being corrupted by it and Adham's preparations for the ill-fated ritual. Hopefully, I'm not the only one praying there'll be a sequel. Salma still has to locate the artifact, and I'm sure her mother's exposure to the artifact and its consequences had further repercussions. What might she have wished for while in possession of it? Did the possessing entity come from the artifact? Can Salma find and destroy it or will it fall into the wrong hands? Something else to note is that the game itself is set in Egypt, despite the obvious English influences in the house's architecture. It would be great to get out of the house and explore a bit, especially if this ISN'T in Cairo (far too overdone). Even if we don't get to walk the streets, visiting various shops and other places while trying to learn more about the artifact (perhaps with exterior shots of the buildings as loading screens) would be a wonderful addition.

You know, I thought I was going to hate this, and a few things did make my heart hurt a bit, such as the jumbling up of Ancient Egyptian Dieties, , Sumerian Deities, and late Ptolemaic rulers, with a bit of nonsense Latin and Exorcist and Lovecraft too....But.... the Wiseau style offishness of everything, the voice acting, the pauses, the glitchiness,.. and the kookiness/scariness of the Demon did make this a pretty enjoyable game. Hats off to the single Dev, and the work they've put in. The premise and style was a great idea, just not really well realised unfortunately, but the Dev really did well with what they had. With time and resources, this could be a really good , fleshed out longer game with an expanded storyline.. Thank you to the Dev and of course, to you, Chris for another very entertaining game. x

To be fair, the game does state that the father (Adham) was an archaeologist, so having relics from various cultures on display throughout the mansion was appropriate. Also, the game's set in Egypt in the 1980s, something that's poorly explained in the game, so the mix of deities and references to Aegyptology are actually quite appropriate. At risk of a rabbit hole (and betraying one of my passions), the use of the name "Isis" instead of Ạst may be popular even in archaeology circles, but Isis is actually the Greek name for the goddess Ishtsar. Her worshippers changed the name to avoid persecution (and later changed it to Mary when Christianity became Rome's state religion so they could hide amongst the early Christians). When Greece conquered Middle Kingdom Egypt, they merged several aspects of Egyptian and Greek mythology including the names of several deities. Thus, Isis and Pazuzu are technically related due to the wonderful field of comparative mythology. I'm not sure if Mohamed Alanisi is from Egypt, but if he is and has been to the Cairo Museum or similar places, there's a good chance he's aware of the connection and added Pazuzu for that reason. But even if he did so just to help support the idea that this was an archaeologist's home, it serves as a fun little Easter egg for us hopeless academics. I do agree, the flaws in this game are part of what make it great, and there's plenty of room for a sequel (she never found the artifact, for example). Hopefully we'll see Salma again in Mohamed's second game.

I don't know if this has been done but hearing the incantation at the beginning gave me the idea of a horror game where you are a game developer making your own horror game. During the process you look up some demonic stuff online and make a fake demonic incantation saying it to yourself out loud to make sure it sounds good, only for it to be an actual one that summons a demon to you without you knowing.

You know as you walked back into the foyer with the staircase (10:15) I had a flash back to Resident Evil, when you continued on and entered the dining area it was a definite Resident Evil vibe for the layout concept of the manor. Did mean to mention, also the opening Title/Dialogue gee have we heard that voice over style used anywhere before now??? Also just noticed, the library, reminded me of the one in I think it was Westward Shadows, had the statues underneath that needed to placed in the right spots.

That's the danger of using realistic 3d models in a small game by an indie team (or a single developer). They tend to look goofy if you can't create equally realistic animations, interactions, effects, lighting and so on. btw I'll prefer unprofessional voice acting over the ai-generated garbage any day of the week though. Props to the developer. All in all, a charming little game

This game was a delight! It has a cinematic feel, I like that protagonist reacts to the environment (and yeah, who wouldn't scream and cry in this situation), the game just has its own unique charm about it. I didn't expect to like Salma's voice but I found it strangely endearing. And adding Egyptian mythology, makes the big scary mansion horror story trope stand out.

Salma was too busy trying to stop her mother and never thought to ask her where she hid it (which was the whole point of the resurrection ritual in the first place). From everything we read, it's my personal theory that the entity possessing her mother was a djinn that had inhabited the artifact. Because she'd been corrupted, the djinn was able to use her as a vessel when Adham tried to bring her back to find out where she hid the artifact. If so, the exorcism likely forced it back into its original prison. Hopefully, we'll get a sequel where Salma hunts for and possibly destroys the artifact so it can't hurt anyone else.

You know, the weird, stiffness of the cutscenes could actually work in an intentional uncanny valley way if the game was handled differently, had a different more surreal and serious tone (maybe something akin to a David Lynch movie), and was trying to replicate pre-rendered cutscenes from the PS1 era.
