For about 2 years, I would have cases where I'm in pain and could not walk. I will see a doctor and will be told there is nothing wrong with me. It moved from feet to the hands bathing myself was the struggle. My ring finger started swelling up. I went to Google trying to figure out what was wrong with me, when I saw RA I suspected I was suffering from it. I decided to see a specialist and they confirmed it was indeed a RA.

I recently got diagnosed with, not just one, but 2 auto-immune diseases, RA and lupus. I was also by myself when I got the diagnoses. TBH, I still can't wrap my head around these conditions, so I've been watching videos like this the past few days. Oh, and like you, I seem to experience pain on the right side of my body first, but then the left side follows a day or so after. Praying for the best for all of us!

Now I am suicidal because I lost my job and didn't have kids. My life has no meaning, I am very lonely and I lost my job. I got depressed after I lost my job, now its been 22 years, I am 53 now on disability..It was suppose to be work comp so no one offered me another med. I gave up on kids. Now my dad is turning 87 and I will be homeless when he dies. There are other meds that allow you to get pregnant. Make sure you explore your options on having children before it's too late. This sounds like my story. I’m 39 and I woke up one day, and I felt like I had plantar fasciitis. Never a couple months later, my shoulders feet, right hand couple of fingers, etc are so sore in the morning. What have you found to be helpful? I don’t want to do medicine so I’m eating autoimmune Paleo and I want to try low dose naltrexone.
@GimmeTheScoop11 ай бұрын
I was diagnosed this year. Symptoms started right before I turned 40. One day I just woke up with pain and swelling in a couple of fingers. Spread to the side of my palm. Now both hands have a couple fingers affected and spread to a a couple of toes and knee. Sucks waking up with pain everyday and fingers n toes are starting to look slightly crooked. After being diagnosed I’ve been taking methotrexate once a wk. seems to help some days but most days I still have some sort of swollenness and pain somewhere. I don’t want to be on medication forever but if it slows the progression then I need to do it. I’ve also watched docs on KZbin say that intermittent fasting is the most effective so trying this as well. I’m also still taking prednisone 10mg most days 😩 I know that has long term negative effects on health but it’s so effective with reducing the swelling. I have also found that cardio and working out seems to help so I have been forcing myself daily even though I wake up stiff n all 😢. I’ve always worked out daily on a regular basis for years, so that’s not hard, but the eating part..eliminating gluten, sugars and other foods that don’t help has proven so challenging but I need to do this along with fasting. Good luck to all. It sucks having this chronic disease when you’ve never had health issues previously.

I am so happy that you test positive for the RH Factor. I have had ALL the systems of RA since I was about twenty years old. I have never tested positive for the RA factor so they will not put me on a treatment plan. I have been in pain daily since I was about 27 years old. This is when the burning system started in my knees during a flair up. At this point both knees are bone on bone, but they will not replace my knees because I cannot straighten either of my knees. I have arthritis in every joint of my body. I have degenerative arthritis in my knees and lower back. I am just so glad you tested positive, and they listen to you. I do not want any other person to be my age(only 52) and have the body of a ninety year old. I think more channels like this need to be out there to inform the public that not on RA patients with test positive for the RA factor.

Omg I have the same problem Elise! I’ve been telling the dr for two years I think I have rheumatoid arthritis. My knuckles and fingers swell, fingers get red, shoulders swell, throbbing pain. Knee, and now it’s in my right foot. Just saw the dr again Thursday because I thought I had fractured it. When he saw the rash on my arm he finally said this may be ra. Before they always just told me fibromyalgia. He took another blood test Thursday and I’m waiting on results. It’s very frustrating. In the meantime I’m struggling and barely walking.

I’m a bit late to the party. It’s nice reading everyone’s comments. They’re all very relatable. I’m 27. I was officially diagnosed summer of 2023. I had my first intense set of symptoms of when I was working as a vet tech and my hands felt like they were getting hot and stiff. Then eventually they just swelled up (at least in my eyes) and felt like my hands and wrist joints were on fire. I could not get officially diagnosed for at least 3 months even after getting a high RA Factor in bloodwork because my bloodwork did not show inflammation and my joints were not getting swollen enough to show any significant facts and there was no degeneration in my joints in the X-rays. I’m only in year 1.5 and it is a good life and I have good family and friends around me, but it also has been hard between the immense amount of pain and THE FATIGUE and having to work to pay for bills and stay on medical insurance to get treatment. Trying to figure out my own triggers. Rest but also keep moving. Trying different diets. It’s exhausting folks and I’m sorry for anyone else who has to deal with an autoimmune disease.

Your experience at the rheumatologist was almost a carbon copy of mine. I am checking out these KZbin videos right now as I am currently suffering again. I am a few years ahead of you. Mine started about 6 years ago and it was all of my major joints. Horrible, totally debilitating. I had 3 steroid injections and then started on methotrexate. Went back to work. I was doing ok. Moved to Thailand. Continued with methotrexate In conjunction with the doctor, decided to try and wean off the drugs. (Tried previously and failed !) This time it worked and I had three years with no drugs or pain ! Then this January it came back and I am struggling to get it under control. This is where I am now. Been back on Methotrexate for two weeks now. Thing is, it's a bit different this time. I didn't have pain in my hands first time around. This time my hands are extremely painful. Good luck to everyone on here !

The fact that they gave the referral for a rheumatologist! That is truly the struggle. I am going through the same with my knee and it's not the first of joint pain at all. GP gave me Vitamin D supplements for my stiffness. That was after 3 visits with visible swelling, redness. I've seen orthopedic Drs. who don't seem to care unless surgery is needed. It's so hard and 6 weeks rest time repeatedly is very hard financially not being able to report to work and not declared any disability either. The extra therapies to help with pain are all costly. We have to do better for people who may have this painful disease. Years going byband nothing is geting done. 💔

@@tamekadouglas1060The average age of diagnosis for RA is between 27 and 31 ( I believe). However you can be born with it. That's what made my outlook about being diagnosed with RA at 31 a little easier to process. I couldn't fathom me having to deal with it AND the ups and downs of developing too. Going through the unknown when it comes to your health is hard. You are hoping for the best yet trying to somehow prepare yourself for the worst. Hey, I can't imagine how awful and scary it must've felt to receive this diagnosis, and how much distress it's causing you. We thankfully live at a point in time where very effective medications exist, in case other ones like MTX won't work sufficiently. I was diagnosed at two, but started showing symptoms around age one, and now, 22 years later, the only damage I have is to my jaw and left elbow joint from undiscovered inflammation. With enbrel, I've been in remission (so fully symptomless) for 7 years now. Physical therapy, medications and healthy nutrition can work wonders, even if unfortunately there isn't a cure. And acute joint inflammations can be treated with punctual injection of cortisone into the joint. I wish you the best. ❤️🩹

Its so sad this happens to anyone and so sad people are so unaware of this. It doesn't mean your old it has nothing to do with age it happens to us young people too...its so unfair. I've been dealing with the symptoms since high school it runs in my family. I got this due to genetics only. It runs in my family. Sad. I got this just for being born in my bloodline? Theres so much unfair with this and I'm so sorry your going thru this and anyone who is ... God bless you all. I know its hard. I'm both angry and sad because its unfair. Ive had ptsd all my life been thru alot could barely handle my ptsd and now this? Got a positive test for autoimmune both lupus and RA run in my family so it could be either. The pain is so awful.

Any medicine doesn't suits her . Starting it was methotrexate but it doesn't suited her they switched to injection of methotrexate but it worsen her condition of vomiting nausea swelling where it was injected and .then they switched to another injection given every 6 months but today her every organ is destroyed and she suffers a lot . No medicine suits her . She has very less platelet and has blood count . She needs surgery but hadn't been able to due to circumstances

I’m so sorry to hear this! I pray your mom and her doctor finds a medicine that suits her and she can get some type of relief. There’s nothing worse than being in pain and nothing can ease it. Please don’t lose faith, I’ve met people who’ve had bad reactions or medicines that didn’t work for them and eventually they were able to find something that worked for them. Don’t give up and keep pushing for new medications. Wishing your mom the best and hope to hear when she’s found some relief.🤍

I take Meloxicam, Gapapentin, and Cymbalta. All together i can finally rest. The use of a body pillow helps. Also wearing a compression sleeve/ brace put on the sore joint of the day or week. They sometimes make it worse but its worth the shot. Ive had them take pain away immediately.

Why did it take 6 months to diagnose? Wondering bc I went to see a PCP today for all these same symptoms (joint pain, swelling, feels like the flu for a few days) and he immediately dismissed me as too young and said must be vitamin deficiency or diabetes. Hi Nicole! Thank you so much for sharing your story and for creating this platform. The part where you told your mom really got to me. I was diagnosed with RA three years after you, in 2013 - I was 17. At the time, I didn’t really fully understand, it was a lot to process but I remember my mom crying too! I was prescribed methotrexate but never took it so my rheumatologist switched me to Enbrel and I’ve been on it ever since. It’s similar to Humira, I take a shot ever 2 weeks. I’m managing ok, some days are harder than others but you’ve just got to keep pushing through. I hope you’re doing well!

Amazing Video. Know I'm a bit late but....... I (28yr old M) was diagnosed about 2 years ago. Got Covid from work and it lasted about a month. When I went back to work my knees starting aching really bad every day. After working for about two weeks with the pain, my leg finally gave out. Didn't have Insurance from the place I was working and was told by the hospital that this issue may take a while to get fixed. I ended up quitting my job just so I could get decent health insurance. When I finally got insurance and seen a doctor(who was awesome) he ran some labs and found that I have RA. Turns out COVID can bring out lingering genetic diseases that may have remained dormant otherwise. Anyway it's been two years and I have taken all the meds and so far nothing has worked. Currently on Kevzara and hoping for remission soon. Also in case anyone reading this has Severe RA and wondering if disability is an option....Just get a lawyer.
@vinlago8 ай бұрын
Get a lawyer and hunker down for a long wait. Better yet get a govt or union job and if available private disability insurance and work as long as you possibly can. Disability is not about a diagnosis. It's about whether an administrative law judge thinks you can perform any task they can invent regardless of whether in reality it's feasible or financially survivable.
