I just got home from dropping mine off at the post office to send back to Eric because of blade rap. This is my first experience with him but it sounds like he's a pretty good guy to deal with so I'm sure it will be great when I get it back. Otherwise it's an awesome piece and I'm really happy to have it.

Eric reached out to me when I posted about mine on the Forum and offered to fix it. Just like the video here, it was my first (and only) snap-close, and it took out a chunk that I felt drop away when I ran my fingernail along the edge. He told me he'd be more careful about this in the future. I lucked into the drop, and the knife itself is stunningly beautiful. Hoping to get it back this coming week.

Telll Eric he is stupid. No reason you can close your knife any way and have to worry about any issues. Screw that company. Tell Eric they need to make better knifes or drop the price .

That stinks. I recently took the plunge and purchased a Tuna Valley Old Man Norman Barlow and it had blade rap, wasn't sharp and had blade movement closed. I was so disappointed and sent it back for refund.

Thanks for the review. I missed out on this run as I have for all Eric A.'s slip joints. However, I have a fixed blade from Albers, which I found to be a very good knife (walnut) expertly crafted although the tang stamp seems to a bit off centered and crooked. Nonetheless, I appreciate the fact that these knives are basically made by one craftsman and I am willing to deal with less than perfection and even find the slight imperfection to be interesting. I will continue to pursue Albers slip joint although, like you, I would prefer not to have blade rap.

I feel your frustration and annoyance mate. It's happened to me too many times, and you know what really gets to me? It's the notion that someone who's only too happy to take your sizeable chunk of hard-earned thinks it's okay to let substandard stuff out of the door. Either that, or they can't even be bothered to check. It's supposed to be a premium folding knife, for crying out loud - is it too much to expect the blade to sit correctly in the bladewell? One benefit though is that it enhances appreciation of those knives in your collection which do come up to standard (including several Rough Ryders in my case!) - keep at it brother, and don't drop your standards!

Being it is a new knife; I would send it back as soon as possible with the reasons why. There are no knives absolutely perfect. However; the price and trouble it takes to buy one is reason enough to expect one that the blade isn’t damaged when it closes. First it will make it less an issue; if you keep it or try fixing it yourself. Secondly the maker needs to know to check for this problem in other knives he makes. He should be thankful because you did. 😐

OH DEAR. "THERE ARE NO KNIVES ABSOLUTELY PERFECT" that has to be the dumbest quote I've ever heard. Only the uninitiated would say such a thing.did you actually think about what you were saying before saying it? highly unlikely given some of the other garbage you've written in some of your other comment's or novels as most appear.

Is this because the kick is too shallow or a pin not being filed down far enough? I was gutted to not get an Albers knife. Those Hempwood ones looked awesome.

While the blade rap is unfortunate and it may take awhile, from what I have seen on the forum Eric would make it right. I have not had any dealings with him myself though, but from what I've seen on BF he is highly regarded there. As always great vid, keep on keeping on 🤠👍

They sure do. I bought around a dozen 71s to recover and almost all of them had blade rap. BUT, with literally a couple minutes on a fine diamond stone, blade rap was gone for good and got it extremely sharp without taking off any noticeable amounts of material. I agree that a knife shouldn’t come with blade rap but it’s always been a fast and easy fix in my experience.

I hear your disappointment and if it's a user the blade will be quite blunt after cutting clay infused cardboard, paper, plastic and zip ties and such in a half hour of work. So might as well sharpen out the blade rap and crack on 👍
