You could improve the front part of the bed by adding some small castor wheels to ease the pulling out and pushing in of that section..

Very nice set up. I had a Coco also for over 17yrs. They almost looked alike. My Coco was Black Chow & Pitbull mix. Miss him a lot. Gd luck and stay safe.

When you pull the bed forward, does the storage box move forward too? Seems like a lot of weight to pull in and out

Yes but the weight is fine I don't put heave stuff in there
