This is My kayak outrigger that I have been using for the last 4 years. In all of my kayak fishing videos, this same outrigger has been in it. In this video, I am only showing a quick review of how it functions and how I install it onto my Kayak, NOT an in depth video of how I made it. If I get enough likes, I will make an in depth review of how I assemble the pieces together. Thanks for watching!

*Very well-made, stable, comfortable **enjoyable.fishing** recommend love that everything fits in bag. Easy to paddle for single person as well, however might be too heavy to carry by one.*

Thanks for this video, I used it to make outriggers for my Lifetime Tioga/Tamarack kayak for crabbing. I’m still tinkering with it but it definitely helps with stability when I’m pulling up my crab pots. I would recommend adding PVC stops (one on each side) for keeping the pontoons (buoys in my case) out of the water. The string stretches and isn’t as solid as another set of stops at the back of the vertical pipes going into the rod holders. Thanks again!

Im probably a little late saying this but you have a tie down loop under your outrigger cross bar. you could just get a small turnbuckle for each side and then just attach them with a cable or paracord loop to the crossbar and many small turnbuckles come with a screen door hook on one end that you could just hook into the tie down, spin it a couple of times and you are secure. Great Idea on the flip ups! They will still work and you wont have a strap running under your kayak creating drag. Not trying to be critical! Yall did a great job! Hope this helps with future builds.

Excellent! I'm impressed! Those outriggers would be $80 and up on Amazon. But so much cheaper to make from pool noodle and PVC pipe like you did here. Great also that no drilling of holes was needed on version 1. A rope with a trucker's hitch would likely work as well if one didn't have a ratchet strap. I live in a bay that usually has significant winds and waves. As a result, I can only go kayaking about 2 or 3 times a month. That outrigger may well be the best answer. Outriggers would also be useful for heavy kayaks that are also loaded with much fishing gear, as those would be hard to upright if capsized. Thanks for sharing and posting this vid.

Mine is very similar except i used a 1.5' PVC and it fits into my rod holders quite snug, no need for anything to strap it down. I'm definitely stealing your rotatable idea. Great job!

Thanks so much for this video! I really like the no drill setup, it's very well thought out. Can you give me a bit more detail on how you attached the foam to the PVC? I assume it's some kind of T-joint. Thanks!

That’s awesome man, great easy to use design I have a similar design using 2in pvc and 1.5 in pvc My design rotates front to back vs your version of side to side Mine is yet untested in quarantine but if successful I’ll do a walkthrough too. Thank you for uploading this, I was a bit concerned that water would cause some issue while rotating but it looks like it’s not a problem for you

With the outriggets positioned where they are on the sit inside. You can see the extra trouble with paddling effectively.

Good job. The strap underneath don’t mess with the tracking? Or your not worried about it bending the yak? I would have secured both sides down with the silver eyelets by each rod holder spot

If nothing else you could extend the front noodles, use nylon ties pulled tightly to create a more cone shape? Personally I prefer a kayak with a non flat bottom; round, V flared hulls, heavy on built in hull secondary buoyancy, but people find these too tippy, even if more safe in bad weather, so manufacturers go with flat. Flat bottoms, will hinge flip on the down wind, down wave side digging in, the flat bottom lifted to wave, wind, prefer to have hull tilt, slip it on round surface. I have no desire to stand up in a kayak to fish. Our saltwater river is 5 miles wide, feeds a huge bay, it's 60 feet deep, so, low down for me. Thinking of using noodles to fill the back area where a bulk head should be behind the seat in a sit in kayak. Why you would manufacturers a sit in kayak without a water proof bulkhead is beyond me, or at least supply blow up flotation. I believe that kayak that transverse the west coast to Hawaii used, carried, pontoons only night, so the kayaker could sleep. Still this would be a good option for a lake, smaller water for those sit in kayaks, no bulkheads. They are impossible to get the water out, flip back, or try to get to store with, as they are a bath tub of water. If going further out than you are willing to swim on a lake by yourself, no kayak, probably a good idea.

Try looking for exercise foam online. Before Covid, I bought them at the workout section from Walmart. But with Covid, nothing seems to be in stock anymore. I just typed in "exercise foam" right now on google, and you can purchase them online from walmart. www.walmart.com/ip/Stamina-18-Inch-Foam-Roller-18-long-x-6-diameter/603482861?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&&adid=22222222227368723992&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=470063717519&wl4=aud-834279576126:pla-968228321694&wl5=9031868&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=603482861&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAjw5p_8BRBUEiwAPpJO68pElZkTwL9A7C7BhbJKICa6dPvwNlgKugBlUZL-u-eaZi7x34tWoBoCYz0QAvD_BwE

FYI, Black pipe is ABS, white pipe is PVC. ABS is rated for drainage with no pressure. PVC is usually for potable water applications and is thicker and stronger. I also see you have it labeled as 1" The pipe, but you built this with is 1 1/2" ABS pipe. I don't see 1 1/4" pipe at all.

ITs PVC bro, I spray painted it black. I inserted a size 1 PVC into a size 1.25 PVC. Its hard to tell, but there are actually 2 different size PVC at work here. Thats why I pointed the arrows in the video to indicate where the Different size PVCs are.
