Here is something I do with my mini aussie on gloomy days! I ask her to go in her cage and play one of those one hour of squeaky dog toy sounds on my phone. I then hide it in the house and ask her to find it. I taught my dog to sit and put her paw on it. She absolutely LOVES it. She is a master at this game so I need to put the volume way down to make it challenging lol. Hope this helps someone!

On those crappy weather days I blow up a balloon and my mini Aussie goes crazy herding the balloon and works great for the mind as well. Good thing to do before a walk if you want the dog to be less energetic.

We live in the northern part of the states, and winter is a challenge with 2 of these bad boys. Though, we have the same personalities as yours. I have one nut and one bum. So, we have a large fenced in yard, and we can let them outside to run, which they do, as they have to check out the whole yard for anything new. But my less active bum will not really get out and run, so I go out and just walk the fence, sometimes with snow shoes, just to keep them moving. Not fun when it is below zero, but we just aren't out there as long. Indoor training is a must to keep that mind going and to wear it out for the day. We have a small agility set that you can setup an obstacle or 2 in the house and work with them. Or I just take them to some place that allows dogs, like Home Depot or Cabela's and the strange feel of these stores seems to take more out of their energy than just a simple walk. One thing that we deal with are toys that don't get lost in the snow as easily as others. Basically, we put the Chuck-It balls away, and other things that just sink into the snow when they land. Frisbees are the year round fun, but we are still looking for more toys for outside that are easy to find when they decide to leave them out in the yard.

Good video. I have a Rotty/Chow-Chow mix and my Aussie. The two of them like to rough-house for hours. This is a relief during those winter days that we can't get the Aussie out for his daily, hour walk. We also fill a Kong toy with kibble, wetted down with beef broth ,and freeze it, for an hour of him trying to get it all out of the toy (that tires him out, mentally). We also play with the tug toys in the house on those cold, non-walkable days. Yes, we still take him out for a short walk on those cold days (in his winter coat when the temps are low, followed by some paw butter when he is done). Also, he responds well to lots of attention and belly rubs on these days. Thanks for the video!
