Hahaha I think a lot of people assume that even in the doll making industry lol Yup I popped across the pond from good old Blighty in 2001 and the rest was history! It is so crazy for me to get my head around that also @Vladdie99 - i mean my daughter loved that doll and i kept it in her bedroom on a shelf over her closet with some other special bits and bobs not to be played with by a 1 year old lol until I was contacted by the set designer .. all rather surreal.

I've seen the movie over 30 times now and I've been too distracted by other things going on in the movie, I will be definitely on the hunt to see the other dolls now! Alita merch has been extremely difficult to come by since there was not an officaly liscenced company to make them, it was a bunch of different companies who made them. You are now a part of history! Movie history 🤩

Well i can understand why you would be focused on Rosa rather than dollies LOL That's really interesting regarding the merch - I am still in two minds about another exclusive run of mushroom babies for Alita fans - i have this cool design I have been working on for finished dolls to get the mushroom babies down in size - they would be pretty amazing and much easier to display for Alita fan collections. Hmmm .... I just need some time to play around with it a bit more ...

When I first saw the shroom doll had to google you and bought the plans. The Facebook link did the trick. I’m no seamstress so I found a doll maker in San Antonio. You are truly a skilled designer. @@DollsAndDaydreams Indeed! The movie brings a new dimension to the Mushroom Babies, and of course the Mushroom Baby and your other creations also brought a new dimension to the movie as well. Dr Ido could not bear to let Alita wake up in the surgery so he let her wake up in his daughter's old bedroom instead, which he kept well maintained as a shrine, it was a very poignant scene and the Mushroom Baby helped so much to make it what it was.

@Seele2015au I absolutely agree. The Mushroom baby really was never Alita's, it was Ido's daughters .. all of them were. I find it interesting though how Alita is shown to gravitate towards it, that no matter someones age, or if the doll holds a long term significance to someone, that we all have moments in private when a simple toy can mean so much and provide so much comfort.

@@DollsAndDaydreams I'm starting to wonder if I've misremembered it :/ There's so many interviews & BTS vids and I couldn't find the clip but I did find something relating to it in the artbook, it's the last paragraph of this page- imgur.com/AqFv8VE The artbook states that Steve Joyner (one of the production designers, dunno if you dealt with him) presented Rodriguez with 3 teddy bears to use and he got Rosa to pick one. So this is either all referring to just that one teddy bear that's sat on a chair on the far side of the bed in Alita's room (that I didn't notice until I tried finding all of your dolls) or he actually means soft toys rather than just teddy bears. It seems odd to mention a toy in the background of a scene where the hero is holding a different one, unless Steve Joyner just really likes teddy bears.

I call my mushroom baby a doll (but I often do interchange doll and softie) however it's also a softie, soft toy, stuffie, plush toy, stuffed toy ... and yes some even refer to them as teddy ... or teddy bear 😂💗🍄... hey maybe his favorite toy as a kid was a teddy! 🐻💗😂😘🥰 who knows! Damn... took me six months to see this, which means the KZbin algorithm's been screwing the pooch. Would have bought one of the limited edition dolls if I'd known. I can see why Salazar picked it: all the dolls they used are cute and Japanese-influenced, but the mushroom doll really stands out. It's an iconic doll for an iconic scene.

The other mushroom baby is on the other end of that lower shelf and i'm wondering if that's where the Rainbow baby doll is. I thought it was my rainbow babies the first time i saw it - but the limbs are off, when i look at it closely I don't think it's not one of mine. I think the second hedgehog is on the other side of the brown rabbit in the photo you posted ;) you can see he's tipped over but I know that fluffy fleece anywhere LOL Thanks for helping point them out!
