The mold almost certainly isn't the fault of the needles, it could happen to any wooden needles exposed to moisture. Either your home is humid, or they were otherwise exposed to moisture. In the future if you sanitize + put out in the sun the mold spores will be killed- you might be able to see the remnants of it, but it shouldn't come back unless they get wet enough again

Hey there! I’m a knitter and a microbiologist. Mold needs moisture to grow, so a good wash and dry should make your cardigan good as new. If the cardigan had been wet or damp for a long time I’d worry a bit about fibers weakening, but it sound like the mold wasn’t near the fabric for long. The mold was probably happily chomping away at the cellulose of the wood, which it would prefer over the protein in the wool. I think it’ll be fine!

I’ve been there with rit dye!!! I tried to die raw fleece “caramel” and it turned out a really awful shade of green. I switched to acid dye after that. I’m glad your green is such a nice colour!

From now on green is the colour! Noone would guess that the intended colour was black 💚💚 And I wasn’t choosen for Sauble tee neither (size 4). As a revenge, I casted it on as soon as the pattern was released 😂😂 . In the thrifted Sandnes Line it turned out just stunning!!!!!! And the first croped garnment I’ve ever made - beeing an old lady of 55 years 😍😂 I wear it untill fall makes me too cold. ❤Continue your awsome work!!!❤

Your Lucia Pullover is beautiful. I’ll be getting that pattern for sure. I love her designs. Just a caution since you aren’t sure you actually spilled anything on your needles, I know you are in a different house now so you may want to keep an eye in other things if your house is humid. I’m in an old house and last year my leather sandals got white mildew on them stored in a box in a closet. Very annoying.

I’ve heard that yarn buying and knitting are two separate hobbies. Maybe that’s your Marketplace “friend’s” situation. I’d just enjoy it while it lasts!
