I sat down to talk about what I would have wanted in an ideal game set in ancient Greece. The thoughts are a little rambly so I hope you'll excuse me as I don't use scripts, but I'm pretty content with how the game would come across to you guys. let me know what your ideal ac Greece game would be.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a 2018 action role-playing video game developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft. It is the eleventh major installment in the Assassin's Creed series and the successor to 2017's Assassin's Creed Origins

If Odyssey was one protagonist (Alexios preferably) and no dialogue options, it would be cooking. They rushed the game out because of the people up top at Ubisoft. I honestly wouldn't mind the same story, maybe a little darker. I think the stakes for finding his family was never built on as the game takes no chances to actively kill your family members. I also think guaranteed assassinations would greatly benefit the game. Also, take away three different types of damage. Make combat feel like the colonial games. Give Alexios a bow that kills any enemy in a single headshot or two to three shots in the body. I personally liked some of the side quests, but we lacked good writing for a good bit of the game. I also think making Alexios have a code by not taking certain contracts as a mercenary would help or making it to where we see him completely disregard certain contracts until he finds out more of what the person wants him to do. I also think if they had added the Hidden Blade after the Legacy, it would have been nice. I personally would also add shields. The game should have played more like Origins. That's what I want. I'd like to also add the amount of time the team was given actually shows because the weapons in Odyssey aren't as detailed as weapons in Origins, which I just played some of it last night. In an Origins sequel, I'd prefer Rome and Aya as the protagonist. I'd hope the third game would be both of them as dual protagonists and we would swap to either one anytime we want.

Your idea of the story how they made the first hidden blade is so sick (in a good way) and how they made the Philosophy of the hidden ones or what ever they would’ve called it before origins. I wished that was Odyssey then what we got. I felt it competitive in a way, to a point where I was like what do I do now?

Besides an assassin's creed themed one, my ideal ancient Greece game would be like oddessey but remove the assassin's creed part entirely, instead my game would have the player fulfilling favors from the gods and battling mythical creatures while, like clash of the titans although the God you pick decides the class you will have

The RPG entries could've been so much better if it becomes the continuity like the first 4 games or intertwined like AC3-Rogue. There's so much history to discover near Roman's Mediterranean peak, and it could've been a great trilogy with Egypt, Greece, and Rome itself *(instead of shoving up Norse mythology out of nowhere due to popular demand smh)*

To be fair, I think the Norse mythology was kind of to be expected. They'd already focused on the mythology of Egypt and Greece, so Norse was the next natural one to do. Roman mythology would just be reskinned Greek mythology. Excluding my boy Janus.

I had the very same thought but I would have set the third game during the time of Alexander the Great because it would have sat nicely in between Odyssey and Origins and could have been set anywhere between Greece and India, but a Persian setting would have been ideal.

I personally really enjoy Odyssey and am on my third playthrough. I think the stories and missions are more handcrafted than in Origins. Many tasks that were missions in Origins are now just errands on the board for you to pick up (though Origins has its own handful of amazing quests). If there's an exclamation mark, you know it has decent - sometimes really good, or even amazing - writing around it. Consider Pephka, where they try to scam you multiple times with the Minotaur myth. When you actually find the entrance to the labyrinth, there's a story about a group that has been inside, the cult's involvement, and a child waiting for his father to return, etc. Each island has its own story like this, and the big cities have their own political situations - of course, this could be expanded further, but the game tries to balance multiple elements. I also really like how the Isu aspect of the lore is being explored and developed (which you seemingly really dislike :D). I think the Atlantis DLC is simply amazing, with an incredible atmosphere. One area where Odyssey excels (compared to other ACs - not to hardcore CRPGs) is in its RPG mechanics. There's room for min-maxing and exploiting game mechanics. If you don't kill someone in two hits or can't immediately assassinate someone, then your build simply isn't effective. I love this aspect of the game, where you need to carefully consider how to build your character. This should've probably been some kind of spin-off, but if you think about it, each AC game is a spin-off on its own.
@Pierrot9315
@Pierrot9315 Ай бұрын
The only thing I don’t like is that they didn’t even bother connecting it to other AC games, the lite is great but it could have been exploited so much better. Also the fact that there isn’t a clear recap of what you do, of your progression. For an example in the Far cry games, you know exactly how many radio towers, “bosses” and shit like that are left. Not in odyssey. Also the conquest battles could have been exploited much better. But they’re great, made me rethink my build, strategies and playstyle. The mercenaries are very nicely done, with the tier system

I completely agree, in terms of the actual game I think it’s very good and I disagree when people say the world feels empty. I do think the weakest part of the game is the narrative which can be quite important to some, but gameplay and setting matters more to me than story in a game so overall I consider it a poor AC game but a very good game in general.

This might sound crazy, but my idea for Odyssey would have been a "birth of the Templars" with Kassandra as its founder. Hear me out. Keep most of the settings the same, with a few changes: - Change Cult of Kosmos to Order of Ancients, simply making it the Greek branch of the Order of Ancients. They'll play the same role as the Cult of Kosmos in the game, including causing Kassandra's family to fall apart. - As Kassandra journeys, she'll witness the chaos caused by the Order of Ancients, seeing how they manipulate Athens and Sparta to go to war for their own benefit. Kassandra will come to the conclusion that "peace" and "order" are the noblest goals one can chase. - She'll also witness the Order of Ancients' use of the Piece of Eden to serve the Isu as wrong. The Piece of Eden should be used for the benefit of humanity. You can even have a scene where Kassandra gets hold of an Apple of Eden and uses it to pacify a battlefield, stopping Athens and Sparta from fighting, but it takes a great toll on her that she can't do it regularly. - After she disbands the Order of Ancients, instead of Aspasia telling her about the new order, it's Kassandra telling Aspasia about her vision for a new order, an order that will be a guiding light for humanity and unshackle them from the yoke of the Isu's remnant. - In Valhalla, after Eivor talks with Alfred and returns to his study room, she'll find a document about a misthios that inspired Alfred to take down the Order of Ancients and create the new order in its place. I know this may sound crazy, but hey, it's just my dream idea.

I'd honestly go even further with this. Have a new set of games set from the perspective of the Templars. It's be a perfect jumping off point for new fans and players and it'd likely revitalise interest for older players who want to know when the hell the bad guys from the Altair, Ezio days became the good guys. I personally am more inclined to the side of the Brotherhood but Shay and this pitch have let me know that it's likely due to them constantly showing the Templars in a bad light. The Templars are tyrannical and desperate for absolute control but they're also looking to maintain Order and reign in the Chaos of the Brotherhood. The Assassins are always trying to break the Dictatorial grip of the Templars and are actively fighting for Freedom but more than a few times they either get power hungry themselves or cross the border between Liberty and Anarchy. The Way I see it, both of these groups have a valid point. Too much Templar Order leads to Templar Tyranny and too much Assassin Freedom leads to Assassin Anarchy. The whole we work in the dark to serve the light is technically applicable to both sides if the story is framed a certain way. If they had a Templars Order Franchise they could revisit some beloved historical locations and visit new ones, all with a fresh set of eyes. What's even cooler is they could likely have a fluid system where Stealth, Combat and Control all felt useful and effective but where different situations called for different approaches. It's hard to do that in an AC game when the main draw is being a stealthy assassin. You could still have the assassin elements (Stealth) as well as a fully fledged combat system role (Combat) and maybe a role where you set historically accurate traps, gadgets and ranged weapons (Control), to round out a healthy trio of options. Idk I just found this guy on KZbin like an hour ago and I've been breezing through the videos, not even a hardcore AC fan but I've played a good few of the games (The Ezio Trilogy, 3, Black Flag, Rogue, Origins and Odyssey) and my mind started spinning with ideas after your pitch 😂.

I agree very much with the fact that that odyssey should’ve focused on politics instead of family, and it’s a huge shame that it did not. As you say, we could’ve seen the making of such a balde, and learned how, and very importantly, when and why, to use it. We could’ve seen the start of an ideology, the start of something that is yet too small, not organized enough to count as anything but two guys trying their best, but that promises of something bigger to come. That said, I think the fantasy elements can fit in the story. They can serve the purpose of showing us how far back in time we are by highlighting the proximity to the isu. It’s also an insight into what has been lost over the years, and I believe it can be pretty fun gameplay/ambience-wise too.

I wanted it to lean into the Greek tragedy aspect more. Kassandra sets off to get revenge on her "father", and in killing him finds out he isn't really her dad. The revenge is empty. She encounters the Cult of Kosmos, and in doing so discovers that they have her brother, a living weapon, brainwashed and raised by them. She decides to kill off the entire Cult (revealed to be the Greek sect of the Order of the Ancients in this time period), but finds it difficult to do with just her and her ship/crew. She uses the Spear's powers to work as a mercenary and takes part in the war, fighting for both sides. She finds allies on both the Spartan and Athenian sides, but never really feels like she belongs to either and tries to downplay how much she has helped the other side of the war to each faction. She spends years looking for her mother, and finds her leading Naxos. They meet up but must depart from each other to meet in Sparta later. She joins the Daughters of Artemis, and by the late game, becomes its leader, turning them into a proto-Assassin group to route out the Cult of Kosmos. The Daughters are far sloppier than the Assassins/Hidden Ones we're used to, though, they lack something like the Creed, and Kassandra returns one day near the endgame to find that they have been slaughtered in total by the Cult's machinations, leaving her without that strength. Kassandra's mother ends up killing that one Cult member before Kassandra can reach her to tell her he was blackmailed and his family was being held hostage, so rescuing them is bittersweet. The Darius DLC is pretty tragic so I'd have that play out similarly. She finds out Kleon is part of the cult, and that one of the Spartan kings is in the cult, so I'd have that play out similarly, though maybe the assassinations wouldn't be correctly explained to their peoples and she'd be outcast from both societies. She winds up killing Deimos after he kills their mother on the cliff where it all started, losing those two connections. She discovers that Aspasia is behind everything, and after their conversation, Aspasia, though most of her followers are dead, explains that you can never truly destroy the Order and gets away alive. Kassandra is ready for her life to end, but sails to Pythagoras one last time. In a moment of cruel irony, she inherits the Staff, cursing her to an incredibly long life after losing everything. Barnabas and her crew are all she has left, but she knows she'll eventually lose them too. Though the Peloponnesian War's orchestrators and schemers are dead, the war itself rages on. That's what I wanted. Something poignant. The most long-lived character in the series being a tragic one, who TRIED to do the Assassin Brotherhood thing and failed miserably, while losing everything she had left Cephalonia to find in the first place. In the actual game, everyone feels like a cartoon caricature.
@Nel_Annette

Also, agreeing with your version. NO mythical creatures, *maybe* illusions caused by ONE piece of Eden. And at the very least, each head of a Cult branch gets their own dedicated assassination mission with cutscenes and a post-assassination white room conversation in which they explain why Greece must be united as one or whatever their individual motivations are. Also you are absolutely on the nose about the politics, with Athenian democracy and such. This game should have leaned more into some discussion on that and how the Order was trying to immediately pervert it to their own ends.

I personally felt the 'magic' in Odyssey and loved the immersivity of it, though I agree they could've done more to create more purpose in many of the locations. I loved the game and think as a standalone game it is objectively good, hence its nominations for awards, however I do think for an Assassin's Creed game it leaves a lot to be desired narratively and atmospherically, I also agree with you on the mythical stuff and think they should've gone for a more genuine and realistic feel to the game like, as you said, Unity or imo the Ezio trilogy. The game does have a sort of cartoony feel that I don't dislike, but for an AC game, a sense of mystery and discovery and darkness a bit more like Revelations would've worked well for the setting

The way you described AC Origins and Odyssey's open worlds is oddly enough exactly how I felt about each game. Origins had that sense of wonder and intrigue to it that made its open world of ancient Egypt feel like its own character, and it's because of a bigger focus on presentation and art direction. Ubisoft Montreal wanted to player to feel like they were transported to a fantastical place that was full of eye-catching mystery, and it did that very well. Compare that to Odyssey, where, while yes, it is more technologically impressive and more vibrant in color, it still feels remarkably empty and devoid of intrigue. It's less like a living and organic environment and more like a giant space filled with pretty things. It's not by any means unimpressive, don't get me wrong; but nor is it enthusiatically curated.

Since Origins showed us the beginning of the creed and the assassins, i would have liked that Odyssey showed us more about the beginning of the Templars. That idea of Darius and our character evolving and creating a teacher/student relationship sounds amazing and i feel like it could have developed into a deep and emotional story. I imagine something like this, our character is the daughter of a powerful and a wealthy family of Politicians. they get killed one night in front of us and left us for dead, we escape through the woods and find a wounded eagle we call Ikarus. We live as a street urchin for years committing crimes like stealing and burglary with our pet eagle, until in a burglary we find one of the killers of our parents but we discover that we are not alone inside this house looking for this guy, Darius is here too, convincing us that the guy was just a tool and something more powerful was the cause of our childhood tragedy insisting that we join him to reveal the truth . This is the intro and the backstory in the game. We join him and kinda like Arno and Pierre, he teaches us how to use his hidden blade, we travel alongside him learning how he killed Xerxes and how he's a lonely man now, without family nor friends. killing targets in different stages of the Peloponnesian war while he guides us with a strict and uncaring hand, i feel like how Stick teaches Daredevil if you have seen the show or read the comics you'll now what i mean. He is a spiteful old man with a lack of empathy, filled with regret and hatred. (this is my Darius version btw, i know he is different in the game) I never liked how open the open world was, i would like that when we receive a target we are stuck in this target area with side content as usual, and when we gain the knowledge or just killed the target we are free to move to the next region and the war advances too, getting a sense of progress and achievement. We don't interfere with the war directly like in Odyssey, we just work in the shadows killing our targets that obviously use the war to gain power. And the mythical creatures boss battles can be Animus glitches like in Origins or maybe the Cult has access to many isu artifacts that causes us to see this mythical creatures as they use the artifacts to control our minds and we have to fight them to free ourselves. keeping it more realistic in my opinion since is all in our character mind. While the story progresses we discover more about this order that instead of a full Cult i would like if it was more like the Order of the ancient in Origins and maybe a plot twist, like our dad didn't die and he was the head of the order since the beginning planning this war using his power as a politician. And in the end we finish the war killing all our targets while we part ways with Darius. As we discover that the Order is bigger than Ancient Greece, we travel being a lone wolf Assassin hunting for the order in different lands, ending like Darius in some way, alone and spiteful of this order, that we will hunt until the end of our life. And then the open world becomes fully open and you can keep killing targets and liberating areas just like we did in the original game, but now you are doing it to reduce the Order influence in the zone. Sorry if this too long but i had to explain a lot for it to make sense.

Shit i know i'm late to the party but i feel like a woman character would fit the story and Darius would be her father figure in some way, and in the end scene we see Aya receiving this Hidden Blade while our character gives a speech about hope and no matter how incessant the fight against the Templars, Order of Ancients, Cult of Kosmos seems, there will always be new apprentices ready to carry on the legacy of this Creed. Being the Hidden Blade the legacy in some figurative way.

My AC Odyssey game would have been Alexios starting in Kephallonia as a muscle bound heavy weapons specialist who sets out East and ends up in Athens and then the game switches to Kassandra who would start out in Lesbos as a svelt light weapons specialist who makes her way West to Athens and they both meet and the story continues with them going their separate ways after discovering things about each other that continue their journeys. You could even have chosen which character to start with first. I've totally finished Odyssey and all the DLCs as Alexios and have no desire to restart as Kassandra given that I know the entire story now. What I am doing occassionally though is to go into Discovery mode and explore all the discovery points but doing it entirely in first person view because it gives you a chance to look at some of the details close up such as the friezes on temple walls, the stitching on grain bags and even the fur on wolves!

I feel like you could have kept everything in odyssey and just tailored the game to tell a more AC themed story. There was so much potential that seems obvious in hindsight, especially with the siblings and their respective good and evil paths. Either Alexios or kassandra should have been the set in stone protagonist, and they should have decided to tell the story from either an "Assassin's" persective akin to Edward, or a Templar's perspective akin to Haytham's story. This would have placed the protag's origin with either the Athenians or Spartans respectively. EDIT: why they ignored the Helots is beyond my comprehension, but it could fit very well into the mercenary and freedom fighter background. Moreover the main character should have had a set personality. no dialogue choices or branching paths. The bad guys were great and the massive network of cells made me think of the Templar brotherhoods reach in ACII. Darius definitely should have been involved either as an antagonist, or supporting character depending on the perspective. I think a followup could have taken place during Alexander's campaigns during the time of Memnon of rhodes. The cult/ order survived and licked their wounds to build up power in Macedonia, and turn their loss into a win, by crippling the greek cities with war... which was kind of the cult's goal. This could have been a massive game akin to the monster that was Valhalla. Origins would have been the third and final game leading into the formation of the brotherhood.

AC1 remains my all time favourite , I truly hope that Assassins Creed One is getting a graphical remake. Followed by AC Origins,2 and Brotherhood. I hope Mirage will be good. My excitement is tempered ,I hope we can use beautiful moves to cut down my enemies with a Shamshir and single hidden blade. Perhaps we can even get the Byzantine Paramerion sword and perhaps we can ally with the Byzantines , ah the potential for gaming perfection is vast! I am currently playing Origins, I adore the setting but the combat is meh, but I am excited for Mirage. I do hope it will be good. I am also looking forward to be a Shinobi in 1400’s AD Japan . If you want nuanced ,philosophical conflict I would love to be a Mongol Assassin in 1200’s AD. Where you end up accompanying Ghengis Khans great horde to China and Persia, where they laid waste to the Persians and you assassinate the Shah. Where you can see all the good and freedom the Mongol empire brings...but you also see the brutal violence and devastation brought about by the Mongol horde. Creating the largest empire in history following a charismatic leader whom united his people and provides religious freedom in the entire empire... yet he once entered a village , struck his sword into a doorway and proclaimed :'' Any person whose head is higher than this sword when walking past...will lose it....'' Pharaoh Teti 2323 BC First ever recorded assassination in history. I love Origins and Egypts vast history, 2228 years before the reign of Cleopatra. THIS should have been AC Origins. To be an Aztec assassin in 1450s AD Tenochtitlan would be insane, killing Messo priests that aim to sacrifice humans to the Sun deity and assassinating corrupt Azetc kings ,replacing them with more capable leaders and then to fight against the invading Spanish conquistadors… so many possibilities. Or Perhaps a Zaputech Assassin 1500s AD, hiding in the cloud forests as you fight against the encroaching forces of the Aztec Empire …then you hear rumours of a new people that made landfall ,far to the east…. Starting out using clubs, Obsidian knives , bolas, obsidian spears and then ending up getting an obsidian club and for range an atl-atl. AC Babylon where you go up against the guards of Nebuchadnezzar I 1121 BC and help thwart his plans of the construction of the Tower of Babel. Follow Cyrus II The Great 600BC of the Achaemenid Persian Empire The Great King, King of Kings, King of Anshan, King of Media, King of Babylon, King of Sumer and Akkad, King of the Four Corners of the World to conquer Messopotamia, Anatolia and the levant. Abolishing Slavery throughout the Empire , conquering Babylon, and rescuing the Isrealite people and escorting them back to their homeland ,to Jerusalem. I hear Ea Nasir makes fine hidden blades from top quality copper in Sumer. Medieval France where you fight against the Avignon Papacy of the 1260s AD - Treachery perpetrated by the Avignon Popes and the vile king Phillip IV the Fair 1264 AD, that betrayed the Templar order ,forced them to dissolve and brutally tortured and executed them. Thus in a twist, you end up helping the real / original Templar knights to escape torture and execution, to help them relocate, to start a new life (Such as in Portugal) and to help them fight against the new, evil powers in charge, the corrupt Avignon Papacy. Where we get to revisit the events of ‘’Unities’’ start where legend sir Jack de Molay had cited before the tribunal of God that vile Phillip and the corrupt Pope Clement will be cursed by God Three in One. This time , we will see his execution in person as an assassin allied to the knights. One year after he perpetrated his treachery, Phillip IV and Pope Clement V were both struck down by God. Phillip having died in a ‘’Hunting Accident’’.... A few months after Phillips' burial , lightning struck the convent housing his remains and it burnt to the ground. Altair's robes still remains my favourite outfit of all. The 11th century True Templar knight outfit would be my absolute favourite if we get to play as a True Templar knight on 1100s AD Levant. Thomas de Carnelie’s medieval assassin outfit is on par for me with Altair's robes. All of those will look superb if we get a game set in Medieval France and the Levant where we start out as a medieval assassin but eventually join the True Templar knights. And finally I need to go back to beautiful Constantinople but During the reign of Emp Justinian 500s AD, working for the Byzantine Emperors to Assassinate their numerous political enemies in Anatolia, the Levant,Mesopotamia and North Africa. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKaXZHxnasiDrrs Assassins Creed/Warriors Creed. AC Vikinghype / AC 3/ AC Black flag/AC Greece are not ASSASSINS CREED, they are Warrior/Mercenary/Pirate creed. and from that perspective, they are not that bad. If Ubisoft took those concepts and created their own game line ,cutting out the stealth, then that would be epic. I don't care one bit about the story outside of history/the animus, I just want the historical content. My favourite ACs are 1,2,Brotherhood and Unity. Revelations setting of Constantinople was superb, but the half arsed npc design ( copy and paste potato face) really placed that game on the back burner for me. I am currently playing Origins, I adore the setting but the combat is meh, but I am excited for Mirage. Ubisoft should really just make two different games: AC and Warriors Creed, where you fight as famous soldiers of History. I want to fight as a Templar Crusader, a knight fighting for God in Medieval Paris (Europe) all the way to Jerusalem (the Levant) and everywhere in between.. AC is about assassins in highly populated cities where killing is a crime...hence the stealth. AC should NEVER be an OPEN WORLD (apart from Egypt/the Levant), but only set in various large cities. I don't want open world, I don't want guns and I loathe MYTHOLOGICAL / MAGICAL shit looking at you AC Viking hype train. Keep it 100% Historical. I loved that AC1 gave tiny hints about God Three in Ones existence/presence but that was never the focus. Now with AC Greece and AC Viking hype train they said, f,,ck it, lets make a fake ,crappy god of war game. . I want historical AC again, set in the Persian Empire during the reign of Khosrow I, history is FILLED with actual assassinations, all of which can be used to recreate and relive in game. And on the side, Ubisoft can create Warriors creed that focuses not on stealth but on exclusively combat, environment, immersion, and story. Emphasizing the differing combat techniques, cultures and histories of different warriors of the past. Such as the Crusader knights, the Mohicans, the Vikings, the Byzantines,Inca Kamyuks , the Samurai, Pirates and so on. Like Red Dead Redemption but set in medieval / ancient times. A game with the depth and realism similar to Red dead Redemption but in a Medieval/Ancient setting.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey should have been it's own franchise, and spun off from Assassin's Creed into its own thing entirely, which would have made the game so much better in my opinion, as it allows it to lean further into the fantastical stuff without the baggage of a pre existing franchise

I would prefer to have a game set in Greece during Alexander The Great's period. The location would've been Attic, with Thebes already destroyed and depopulated (in some way like an Acre, so to speak), Athens that was still important, and also some empty space with Tessaglia and Macedonia with Pellia and the Royal Palace. And the protagonist would have been Iltani. I think that this period Is far more interesting than V Century for an Assassin's Creed (but, we know, Quebec prefer to create games with a lot of historical famous people that is useless in the lore and the story, but it sells), the cities were bigger, the history is more concentrated in this peninsula and also even if there wasn't a lot of important historical character to link in the story, I think that people like Demosthenes is far more charismatic and important and imperfect than useless Socrates or Erodothus, because Demosthenes is a perfect proto assassin ally. Then the story would have been carried away in Babylon for a sequence in which you have to poison Alexander, in this way you can link a very early historical period for the Saga, with AC 2. Also, as a sequel for Origins it would have been so much better than Odyssey because Origins touched the Ellenistic Period, Alexander's Tomb etc, you can see how Alexander found the piece of Eden and you can see the story of Seleucid, Ptolemy, Antigonus etc before they have the power on the Eastern World. And it would've been also a good assessment game for a Bigger game in Ancient Rome, maybe between 100-400 A.D, which would have close the ancient history. Then it would come Mirage in 861 that would be a link to AC 1 in some way and not Valhalla. Nonetheless with Mirage, also Valhalla's story is better.

@@TheSpaniardAssassin Thanks! 🥹 I often share with you the same ideas about Assassin's Creed, I very appreciate your videos. I forgot about the mystery and metaphysic in the game, I think that every important temple, site must have an interaction, or some riddle or some tomb underground, it would be perfect if there was some special site under the Acropolis for example or under the Delphi Sanctuary Also I prefer some intriguing music that is spiritual in some way, such as AC Brotherhood in the Ruins or AC1 in Jerusalem and Acre, but also Origins in the whole.

1:02 YES! That is my main problem with the game! I cannot, for the love of me, get immersed into the game! The problem is not that the game is not an AC game, or that the hidden blade is missing. The problem is depth, meaning and immersion for me! And I think, the whole point of an open world game, is to get you immersed and lost into its "aliveness". But this game feels like is made by amateurs.. no offense

I feel more and more after watching your videos that AC has not been good at all since Revelations. Only AC1 has the true, original concept and the Ezio triology represents a very well-written story that absolutely fits into the lore that AC1 has established. After Revelations, they really just hid the truth (that they REALLY only care about sales & money) behind small shreds of fan service. With this, I don't want to say that other titles didn't have the potential, like 3's setup as Father and Son being enemies is fantastic in itself but the fact that Connor is ass from every angle a character can be written / only Haytham is good AND that they chose the most boring setting AND they removed the deep parkour system etc.

Honestly I agree but I have to say recently I had more clear problem with Odyssey. Which isn't even caused by Odyssey. I feel like AC Origins(story) shouldn't have been a thing. Like we shouldn't have created an origin point for Assassins. You can still have "hidden ones" and stuff but by setting an origin point Ubisoft gutted such a cool part of the concept of Assassins(and I don't think outside of the hidden ones DLC the actual "origin" of the Assassins were done justice and I would even say it made the conflict feel way too small) I think it all would've been better if we separated Assassins as brotherhood who came after AC1 where Altair mostly perfected the brotherhood and made it an eternal ungoing presence while pre AC1 is Hidden ones, not really a well structured group of people. Heck they imo shouldn't even be a brotherhood but random proto assassins who developed the ideas of Assassins. Creation of rhe brotherhood should be less focused on a person/thus an origin but several different people leaving each other things from the past until Assassins from AC1 are fully became a immortal force by Altair.

All around, fair takes and love the ideas wish we could have seen it. Only want to add one thing to defend Odyssey just a tiny bit. There are so many pieces of eden during Odyssey because it takes place so close to the time of the isu after the collapse. So over time, more and more of the pieces of eden were destroyed or lost to time. So thats why they are so rare in the older games compared to the newer ones
@TheSpaniardAssassin
@TheSpaniardAssassin 5 ай бұрын
This is fair but if you look at the percentage of time its negligible. This game is like 2000 years before the ezio trilogy or something, the fall of the isu was 75,000 years ago. So that many pieces of eden still being around after 73,000 years but not 75,000 is weird

@TheSpaniardAssassin Ooh, for sure it is weird. It makes me wonder since (SPOILERS: Kassandra finds her mission in life hunting down and destroying the piece of eden in the epilouge of ac odyssey). Rpg nonsense robbed me of my dream ancient Greece game. Evie and her being shoehorned into Jacob's story, robbed me of my dream victorian game. Female odin reborn robbed me of my dream viking game, and my sanity trying to explain to her "supporters" why she makes no sense. Ubisoft should just let Jacob have his story without holding him back for evie, and allow Jacob's story to be darker as was intended. Also remove the ripper dlc because it is really bad in the story department. Give Aveline a proper new story as many people miss her out, which sucks because she is an amazing character. Just undate valhalla and remove the "canon" eivor stuff, as it is utterly terrible and cringe. Also give Basim content in England. Finally, Just make a new and proper ancient Greek assassin as the protagonist of a smaller new project that allows us to have the greek assassin's creed game we were robbed of! Don't even care who the character is, just as long as they get to be a proper assassin and greek soldier. Not some mercenary.
