When it comes to the downfall of Assassin’s Creed I feel Unity has to be the correct choice. Whenever I tell someone I’m playing the new Assassin’s Creed I’m always hit with “ AC hasn’t been good since 4” Unity completely killed the reputation the series had.

Tbh my biggest problem with Odyssey is gameplay Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War both were just better and we havent had an AC game That got close ever to them gameplay wise. When it comes tho story? The franchise died to me story wise when they killed off Juno bumfuck nowhere IN A COMIC. A FUCKING COMIC! They buildt her up over the games and she just comes back lives for 2 minutes then dies to a nobody (nobody compared to game characters) Who cares at this point about the story of AC when the writers dont give a fuck about it. Seriously the ONLY THE ONLY REASON why I gave Odyssey a chance WAS because of Kassandra I really like her character and find it dumb that "Oh WoW she survived all this time carrying a trident or staff whatever the fuvk but the moment she let go of it she died" now MY FRIENDS IN THE EMPEROR If they just didnt want Kassandra around for future games they could have had her either have a fight where she dies protecting the new protagonist (whatever the fuck her name is) or just fuck off back to greece and ride off into the sunset with her declaring "Im going home" BLAM DONE She can live out a Mortal life. So when it comes to AC canon is BS so the only way to go on with it without getting angry by declaring that the headcanons we have like again Kassandra just going home or the headcanin that the comic events just didnt happen this is the only way one can hsndle the AC franchise story without anger. Oh yeah the other way is to only come back whenever they have a game at one of your favorite period of history and wait until there is a sale for it like idk Goty edition for 15 euro? Maybe

This aged well. Just completed Mirage permadeath third try. My only real tip (aside from ones which are useful for not dying in regular mode anyway) is to start this on a NG+ after unlocking and upgrading all armor sets and completing all side quests and contracts. This way, you'll not have to do these things in your new story, which increase the chances of dying by a lot. And you'll be stocked on all the faction tokens which will actually be very useful in permadeath. Lastly, make sure to have a LOT of power tokens and use them for getting rid of notoriety. In both my failed attempts I died because to those damned elite bounty hunters. Do not hit notoreity level 3 and if you do, never engage them.

My top 3 is Altair, Ezio and Ivy. Altair is because I started with the 1st game, and still just love if there is an Altair costume inn the games even after all these years. I also love how he changes his mind inn the 1st game, bit by bit when assassinating his targets. Ezio, simply because we had most time with him through AC2, broterhoid and revelation. How he went from a kid to a assassin because of revenge. How Mario trained him inn the way of the assassins. How he became a master at his craft and still was willing to learn even inn old age. Ivy I just simply liked her personality. While she also could be calculating. I feel like she could get her headspace where she needed when she needed to. Wich I found kinda intresting, because not every AC protagonist has that mindsett inn the same way.

Okay, you don't need to believe me, but the part where you talked about a spreadsheet with all AC info throughout every media does exist : I know a guy working at Ubisoft who's actual job title is "Assassins Creed archivist". He is writing what's known as a "Bible" documenting each piece of information about AC in games, comics, movies, etc. It's actually quite hard to do because of the recent games, but I still believe this guy has my dream job ! He gets to meet all of the writing teams, and he constantly updates his Bible, to then give it to newcomers in Ubisoft studios to specifically avoid retcons and inconsistencies. This job was created partly due to fans pointing out problems with the canon, so I hope he will help AC writers to avoid these problems in the future!

It sounds like the contradiction of control that you run into with the templar ideology is trying to apply theory to praxis and seeing that it doesnt work in application. No one is worthy of that much power, therefore no one should have it. If everyone has free will, no one can ever take that control

The problem is that its a long term game. We obtain free will but we do bad stuff with it isn’t the problem. “Everything is permitted” is literally their motto. And while yes it doesn’t mean all things are ok, it is more of a philosophical stance on how things function. People are never not chaotic and all trying to suppress chaos does is make things worse. We’ll never be peaceful, no matter what. Its better to allow us to be the way we are without control then to try to dictate over our lives. Because doing that doesn’t change anything. Its completely redundant

My belief is that in both ways there ideas are an idyllic utopia that would be extremely hard to actually have happen but I believe that the assassin's is more obtainable and the consequences aren't as bad as the templars are. The reason I say this is that for the templar utopia humanity as a whole would have to be completely stripped of emotions. Because in my mind the reason why people do things that are evil is because of emotional imbalances. In the way of people committing these awful things like tyranny and murder are very typically done for avarice or greed. But that is just the emotion of desire that has gone unchecked. To end that people would have to be stripped of all feelings of desire which is a core emotion that to me means they would have to strip all emotions. So there would be order but the only things people would ever feel is nothing or possibly a vague sense of contentment. With this it basically gets rid of everything that makes us human. There would be no evil but there would also be no good, no invention, no progress. Humanity would be stuck in stasis. Because if you only follow orders and have no desires why would you ever make things better. The assassin's to me while it does mean evil would happen, the point of the assassin's is to be a constant that is destroying evil where it is found so it doesn't prevent the freedom of others. I also want to say because it has been said they are an assassin isn't deranged just because of them killing people. They are like soldiers though it is definitely a possibility to become deranged doing the work it is not a guarantee. The assassin's don't want to achieve anarchy because if they did they would destroy all the governments they find. They recognize the necessity of law and order. But they want to limit it where those laws and the order in place doesn't turn into tyranny. Even though the atrocities that happen in the world will still happen if they didn't then nothing good could happen either. A mother or father couldn't love their child because that could make them do something that would go against order if something happened to their child. I do feel like that there should definitely be some accord between assassins and templars because both have valid idea and beliefs that could be useful to humanity but to do as the templars want and to give away free will would be to give away everything. I love that this game is able to inspire this kind of debate though!

Speaking of the point you bring up in 6:47, in Unity, when Arno is about to do his first assassination, Pierre Bellec gives him possible options as to how he may do it, and he says this interesting thing, I don't remember the exact quote, but essentially that in times before Altair, some assassins would go in kamikaze style, where they run in without an escape plan, kill their target and get cut down by the guard or whoever. It supposedly sends a powerful message.

I don't think a small budget is a good excuse for awful combat. While I understand Mirage had a (relatively let's be honest compared to most dev teams it was still quite large) small development team, oversimplifying the combat was the worst choice they could've made. Make the combat hard as balls, not mind numbingly boring. Make it resource intensive using up precious tools that are (compared to the other games) rare and expensive, and make getting overwhelmed a very easy and real threat. I would've made Basim a glass cannon. Still incredibly lethal, but very easy to overrun and someone who needs to treasure the tools they have.

@praetorian98237 сағат бұрын
@TheSpaniardAssassin to use an example of a series I personally have also gotten increasingly annoyed and disappointed in but still love, I feel like Mirage should've gone the route of Total War Atilla. As a general overview, the point of the Total War games is to pick a faction and build your empire. Slowly managing and upgrading your settlements and upgrading your units to handle the other nations around you. Atilla, completely flips this on it's head. If you want to try the series out, Atilla is the *worst* option if you're a new player. While Mirage absolutely shouldn't go that far, Atilla is a test of all the skills you've learned. It's a game of survival instead of expansion. Constant rebellions, crippling financial crises and famines, it pushes you to your absolute limit and forces you to use every tool you have to try and stabilize your empire, especially if you're a moron like me who picked the Western Romans or another large empire. Mirage since it was advertised as a game that goes back to it's roots to appeal to it's old fans, should've placed a far higher emphasis on pushing you to your limit. Forcing you to use the tools at your disposal and understanding the game's core mechanics. Still leave enough room for more casual players to still have fun, but I would take the risk of making it the most challenging game since it's generally going to appeal to older fans, at least at a glance, who already have played a ton of the series.

It's like Lucy once said, their goal is a noble one but the way they go about achieving it is bad, really bad. Sure, if they succeeded in achieving it we'd probably have an utopia, but an utopia built on the blood of hundreds of millions, maybe billions. And with the Assassin's you'd just have anarchy in the end.

I always loved black flags very rough yet vibrant art style. It suits the setting so well it shows the beauty of the Caribbean from its lush jungles, white sands and deep blue oceans and yet shows how grimy and rough it was to be on a ship or walk through all these underdeveloped settlements in the Caribbean. Everyone looks sunkissed, parched and battle scarred. It was a period of survival. People came to the new world for opportunity and worked hard to reap its benefits and I think the game displays that so well

Very good video again, specially but i have to correct you at 2 points : 1.Darius wasn't the first assassin. The first Assassins were Adam and Eve you even find a Assassin symbol in the isu temple in Unity Dead Kings. Before Origins was made the Assassins existed since the human Isu War..I love Origins too its one of my favourites but that retcon killed 100 of great Settings 2.The Dialoge Options suck are unnecesary and made Kassandra and Eivor soulless but there is a lore explanation to it in Valhalla Modern Day (on Laylas Laptop)..it tells that Laylas Animus is diffrent from the Abstergo Animus with Laylas Animus its possible to relive memories from anchestors and non anchestors, it also explains that her Animus can create outcomes that "could have happend" but the Animus user can't make choices. I'm sorry for my bad grammar i'm not english or american

The problem is that the Templars already have the power to create this so called order, but they choose to create tyranny. If you look closely, the Assassins Order is a counterbalance to the already stablished Templar influence that controls every single civilization. But, to have control, the people who will be controling need to make decisions and they're free to make these decisions. The Assassins Order tries through revolution to deliver this freedom to all people so all people would be able to control themselves and thus create a more realistic order. (Sorry about my English)

My maybe hot take on origins, I liked the story and the characters, but the gameplay loop gets so repetitive and boring. You do a main quest but after that you have to do side quests for an hour before you are the right level for the next main quest. And the side quests are not fun at all, its just the same "ohhh help my son he's been taken by the bad guys" and it gets really boring and frustrating. I know that you dont have to be the exact level that is recommended but it gets a lot more challenging when you are two levels below and it doesnt feel fair or realistic.

The reason ive always payed attention to canon is because these media pieces with good writing and good canon become more than stories. More than just mere movies or games. The canon, when handled with passion and love, has the capability to turn a story into a living breathing entity from which it is easy to pull inspiration and philosophy from. Ive never considered how knowing canon rewards you as a casual viewer. To me canon has always been about understanding the fictional world so that you can apply the lessons to your own life

I think the present day is just set dressing and not important at all to the franchise. I think the cool part of assassins creed is that it’s a series of small stories in cool historical settings that kind of tie together. The present is a part of it, but I don’t care about the present when compared to discovering how the creed was involved in history. But that’s just me 🤷

I miss when AC games used to have deep philosophical questions like this. I've always sorta equated the Assassin vs Templar debate similarly to the Jedi vs Sith debate in Star Wars. Both represent two extremes of a really interesting argument with decent points on both sides. Despite a favored side with both franchises, the opposing side also had some good characters who can make good arguments for why they're right. For Star Wars, many people believe that Count Dooku represents a good argument for the dark side. Whereas with AC, its Haytham Kenway who presented the best argument for Templars. What are the chances that they just both happen to be British?😅

I think it’s amusing that in Odyssey, Laylah has that whole report file on truth and Alethia. Alethia being Revelation, or the director and writers; Coherence, the whole historical accuracy of the series; and Correspondence, if all the new facts and gameplay have been matching up in canon Somehow odyssey plays around with everything to the chagrin of many, and yet explains itself unwittingly xD

As far as Hidden Ones and Assassins go, I always figured they went off of the real-life assassins who founded their sect around 1090 A.D. All of the Hidden Ones' stories took place before that. Figured they didn't come up with the word 'hashashin' just yet until we get to 100-something years before Altaïr's time.
