That other countries in latin america now celebrate it doesnt take from the fact that it originated IN Mexico. Its a Mexican celebration. Like someone else said, it was literally started by the aztecs but obviously celebrated differently, but the idea of celebrating a girl turning 15 is still the point. Think about it this way: we celebarate christmas but it didnt originate in latin america and its not a latin american holiday, we just celebrate it. Honestly, quinceaneras weren't big outside of mexico until recently when Mexicans in the U.S. started mixing their cultrure with other hispanics here.

I remember that when I was going to have my Quinceañera I wasn't finding the dress color I wanted. The other thing was that I wasn't finding my dress size, either too small or too big. At the end we changed colors and since we had to move from State I ended up doing everything completly different but it ended up really nice and family got together.
