Great news. Not busting your balls. I have (4) HMMWV’s. (2) 998’s and (2) 1123’s. FYI. You can now buy a base stripped M998’s like this for $$5k-6k. The slantback kit for $7k, the ax doors new for $4500. New paint $100. Or you can buy a M1152 with the slantback complete for $7600 from auction. Just buy the new X doors and you are in for maybe $15k after you buy the turret, bearing and chicken shield. Way better than a 6.2 Non turbo dog. Strip the bumpers and your bolt on items to a new Turbo rig and Sell you M998 asap before they are giving them.

Absolutely love this video. Gorgeous looking humvee. I'm looking to build mine up very similar to yours, but the bumper is giving me second thoughts as it severely limits your offroading capabilities from how much it sticks out infront.

oh almost forgot, if you want some decent and cheap sound insulation for the engine, try using duct liner in the engine bay - apparently it has pretty good noise reduction. www.hummerknowledgebase.com/interior/isi.html

That's a pretty clean well kept Humvee for an '87! Have a lot of fun with that. I might have test drove that when I worked there, (We test drive each one and put 10 miles on a test track before we submit them to the government for final buy off)I retired after 39 years. My neighbor wants to get a M-1045 which is a TOW variant, similar to yours. He's got a five ton M-939 right now. You didn't mention how much you paid for it, but it looks great, so you probably paid a chunk for it as it's 21 years old.

I like it a lot. Even as a European, I am thinking about getting one and modifying it. How much did you roughly invest in the changes? I would add an aircon, a stronger machine and I would probably be modyfying it to a gas-diesel combination (European laws suck sometimes).

He bought it but had to do a lot of work to it. I sold it but I have another one (video coming soon) that was an all original slantback in great shape from a private military training company. The price was less and the truck needed only a little work.

I have been looking at these m998's around my area that are consistently $10k cheaper. I plan on running one for business ad purposes as our other primary vehicle is a wrapped h3. I know many humvee owners who want the full on military look. For others yep, you don’t need any of the extra stuff.

Well the only armor is the 5/8” ballistic windshields (for now) the doors are just regular XDoors and the GPK is aluminum. I’m trying to get the supplimental armor skins and 5/8 glass for the doors. We will see.
