Add a couple more open hi hats and tighten up the snare wires on the home kit and it's guna be amazing.

Great video. Keep going and you'll look back on this video and see how much you've progressed.

keep it up, your doing great, and God will bless you with opportunities to shine in your craft. I have been playing for 40 years and there are still missed beats. The only difference is you learn to play through them. One big tip, when you are struggling through something take the time to reflect on how far you've come and don't get discouraged..

Use your pointer finger as well as your thumb to hold the stick(s). That's the fulcrum, or balance point. Its a balance between that pointer/ thumb grip and the fingers. 😀

You are doing good making progress, the beat and fills sound pretty good already. Like someone else said check your grip and how you hold the sticks. How you are holding the sticks is a little bit different than how drummers traditionally hold sticks. I recommend a practice pad and practice the basics sticking and rudiments, doing practice pad stuff is key.

This is great to see. Keep it up! I hope you continue playing. 🥁 But now... the (hopefully) constructive feedback part: I encourage you to work on your grip. Watch some YT videos or even consider taking some lessons if that's an option. Your wrists and fingers should not hurt after playing. Not even for many hours of practice. (You might get blisters, but those are superficial. And they will eventually turn into callouses.) And just to be clear, I'm not saying you should learn traditional grip. I've never liked it. Matched grip is fine. Learning a healthy grip will not only prevent repetitive motion injuries. It will also help with how you move around the drum set. And it's essential for playing doubles.

Great progress! It’s great to see people going out of their comfort zone to learn a new skill and you’re well on your way. I’ll second the advice from others that you practice regularly on a practice pad, taking care to really focus on your grip and wrist motion. It can be super boring to just play 8 on a hand for months on end but even experienced drummers have to keep practicing basics so they don’t fall in to bad habits. Of course keep up the set practice as moving around the drums is a whole different beast that has to be practiced too. Either way, super proud of you! Hope to see another progress video in my feed sometime.

Hey, I'm a drummer myself. Know the struggle, just wanted to say that you are doing great! Keep focusing on the small wins and just enjoy the feel of drumming. It's called playing drums and not working drums for a reason.

Play the game Rockband with the drumset controller. I swear it perfectly taught me foot and hand coordination and the songs made it fun. It’s a bit old now, but it’s such a good tool.

Yeah that’s how I learned, there’s a video of me playing live about 9 years ago and that’s where rock and got me, definitely my preferred way to learn drums

You’re gonna wanna check out your grip and fulcrum. That may work for now but down the road when you start picking up speed, you’re gonna want proper hand technique or you’re gonna burn out real quick. Keep your head down and keep practicing and upload another video with a year’s progress.

You only get better by sucking. Pushing through this frustrating, unrewarding phase is the hardest part of learning an instrument. Keep on going and don't stop. Every minute you spend on an instrument adds up to sounding better. It's worth the effort...trust me.
