Then again I also want them lean into the lore of Mauga having 2 hearts by giving him a passive that reduces debuff durations but boost healing recieved. In terms of Ball being this strong: It won't last too long, probably. People aren't getting the same value they used to on most tanks, while ball can maintain exactly the same play style as usual. It's why dive tanks that have always had to avoid significant damage (by which I mean they couldn't rely on constant healing) and heroes with strong damage mitigation are doing fairly well. Winston has always needed to not get shot a lot because he just explodes, and he was already nearly impossible to miss, so projectile size increases mean very little. The same applies to ball, except even more so. Ball is the largest character in the game, and he only rarely relies on active healing as his primary source of hp recovery. Dva has DM, which is a great way to mitigate the worst of the dps passive, and is also less reliant on high-concentration in-combat healing. She was also incredibly easy to hit (and headshot) so projectile size increases don't really mean anything, and actually make DM *even stronger* than before. Sigma, despite not being a dive tank, benefits from perhaps the strongest damage mitigation kit in the game rather than taking damage directly, so he, too, stays right around the same place--he's disadvantaged, but not to nearly the same degree as other non-dive tanks. Once the rest of the tank roster finds their way in this new play style, more people will return to their more prominent mains, and ball will return more to his niche. It's "when everyone's super, no one will be," but instead of "super," it's "trash," and ball's been living in the dumpster this entire time.

Ball isn't strong unless he has a proper comp and competent dps. He has 0 kill potential solo and still gets bullied by cc all game. Emong plays in top 500 where rarely anyone counter swaps because they just play what they want to play and people form proper compositions. For the rest of the player base, ball is arguably C or even D tier, depending on yours and the enemies team. Dps and supports all have carry potential when their team is getting diffed, ball has almost none, he can barely even kill a lucio through his own healing, let alone someone pocketed by a mercy and good luck killing a mercy with her 40% self heal bs.

I deleted a previous comment because it had a lot of the same stuff as this one, but I mentioned there that I’ve been dominating my games up until my team refuses to follow up. I won 7/3 placement games, and the three that I lost were because my team simply refused to take space without a tank holding their hand, so even if I’m going 1v3 for 7-12 seconds and they win their 4v2 against a tank+supp, they just stood around waiting until I came back instead of moving in to make a 3v5. They wanted to pretend they were playing poke. The only reason I even won that many games was because people really didn’t want to swap, for whatever reason (luck, mostly), until it was too late. A single soldier-to-Mei swap was enough to nearly swing an entire game in the enemy’s favor, but their tank C9’d before they picked up much steam. It they hadn’t thrown, that team could very well have gone on to steamroll us, and that was just a single swap from a character that already isn’t that bad against ball.

@@cagxplays9602yeah I’ve found loads of success with ease in diamond with ball previously but played a day with the new patch earlier this week and it felt horrible. Need more help to confirm kills but team mates often too busy writing “ball switch” . I think emong hit the nail on the head with zen then a tracer/genji would work great with current ball at most ranks if the ball is competent but in most ranks you’re simply not gonna get what is best suited since everyone plays what they wanna play and don’t really think about synergy

Thing is, ball is always strong if you time your engages right and bait abilities correctly, or punish holding onto an ability. Or just roll them with juicy jukey ball tech. Imho he needs just a tiny buff to stop bodyblocking in bs scenarios, or a tiny buff in boop knockback and he's golden. You don't need to kill anything, just make everyone look at you at the right time and your team hopefully focuses the right targets too.

@@_XRMissie You forgot to add 'with a proper comp and decent dps', because ball alone is not a threat currently, his guns tickle people and none of his other abilities received damage buffs. If "you don't need to kill anything", then you need your dps to kill something, and if they don't, ball is useless.

As a Ball otp I feel he is the same as last season. The other tanks just were brought down to our level of shittyness and that leveled the playing field. You can survive better but still can’t carry games if you’re dps are not following up on your dives.

I’m a masters ball main, so not super high rank, and still got masters after the reset, and the only difference for me is it feels impossible to solo kill anything 🤣 I honestly might prefer ball before the patch because at least you could win 1v1s with squishies.

Junk is D tier imo. I am a lvl 103 Flankrat one trick main and in high elo he is just not worth it, especially not to flank with. At least with Hanzo you could still finish someone off due to his extremely fast arrows. Hitting another shot after the combo (mine and nade) with a Junk is hard though, because of the projectile speed and arc etc. Furthermore many people forget that for heroes like Hanzo (previous patch) and Widow, it just takes one shot to kill, but with Junk you have a one shot COMBO. You gotta hit both the mine and projectile, which doesn't always work (compared to the one shot from a Widow, if you hit with her you hit). Also the overwhelming majority of one combo shots you did with a Junkrat was at extreme close range, which is a lot riskier (again compared to the one shot heroes like Widow, who can shoot you dead from Africa), requires very good game sense, sneakiness, patience etc. So yeah Junk is def. D tier.

The issue is though with his kit and the way the game is being played ATM I fear the second they buff junk at all he'll be too oppressive. A fire rate and mine damage buff is what he needs but God damn that'd make him scary. Junk is one of those characters that is either useless or godly depending on the meta, like ball

I think players who play LW need to learn how to position and use his skills better, because he’s got so much value to offer. I’ve saved various teammates from Tracer’s ult, Mei’s ult, Sigma’s ult, etc. Like, no support can pull a teammate out unless you’re Ana and you sleep dart the enemy. The most fun save has to be from Zarya’s and Orisa’s where enemies Orisa just dance on the petal and we could escape from the black hole on the petal. Besides, being a heal-bot, he offers lots of survivability as a support for his teammates. He needs a buff to his thorns or a faster recharge.

agreed. ive been playing a ton of lw lately and he has potential to be really strong assuming you know how to play him well n have the reaction time to utilize him - definitely agree on the thorns part, tho. been trying to damage more on lw and i can get a pretty decent amount of solo kills but i definitely would not be against a faster recharge or a slight damage buff

Yeah Zen has been pretty op this season. I play as Tracer every day and he literally 1 shots me with a head shot. It's completely broken and he's a healer which is bs that he can 1 shot me as a tracer. Im also really glad that tracers health went up to 175 instead of 150 so that's a plus

Ball could easily go back to D tier with no nerfs. Notice the complete absence of meaningful CC in S-Tier and A-Tier. All his counters are weak unless you count Zen, which is much less of a problem now that we have discord cooldown. The dive DPSes are VERY difficult to play and the chances of having 2 Genji/Tracer players alongside a good ball player are almost 0 in most ranks. Ball without complementary DPSes is much weaker.

THANK you for the honest Doom placement. The argument that there are good Doom players and therefore he's high tier is actually proof that the base character NEEDS a good player to even make him work. S-tier means you can pick the character and with a minimum amount of effort STILL dominate. Doom has the highest skill floor and arguably the highest skill ceiling in the game but he's smothered by bugs.

Ranked wise this patch is amazing. I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this but the bigger projectile sizes, bigger hitboxes and the DPS Passive make hitscan and rush so stupid. I’m at an Impasse where I should just genuinely learn how to play Ball, D.va and Winston because my enjoyment for Mauga and Hog on QP and Rank just gets belittled so fast 😢

As a Zen GM OTP with a few thousand hours, it’s weird seeing Zen get the hype that he currently has. I personally don’t feel like the projectile changes have changed my aim all that much. If they do nerf, I hope it’s only a health adjustment.

40:48 you could always survive GAing through hanzo ult, assuming you are just GAing directly through it horizontally. it would do like 125ish damage, so you wouldn't want to do it randomly for no reason. but as long as you are flying directly from one side to the other horizontally, you can survive that.

Ive been playing rein in low diamond. He is better pick than other tanks.. cos the shields prevents the 20% reduced healing Ball in diamond games so easy to counter. When we have a zen + sombra/cass/bastion

My ball win rate is 55% and 75.% last season I played couple months ago yet this season I’ve lost about 5 of 8 matches because team simply goes on tilt for me playing ball literally from the start. I’ve dealt with this more often than I can remember and usually prove my team wrong but now that I lack solo kill potential especially against zen (used to farm zens with ease) I have to rely on team to back me up which doesn’t seem to happen as often as I’d like.

38:34 don't apologize, emongg, we know. we know Mercy is pretty weak right now, and in lower ranks, she's essentially non-viable 😭. with the dps passive, teams dont know how to stay alive long enough for damage boost to be impactful 80% of the time. she can work but its very rare. my win rate with her was abysmal in ranked but as soon as i switched to Moira, I've been winning so much (went 8-4 with her last night). I do enjoy Moira, but last season, i climbed to diamond 3 solo queuing as primarily Mercy (5x the hours on her than the hero i played second most often) and it sucks for her to feel so weak rn. teams just will not stay alive long enough. yeah, you can just give up and damage boost almost exclusively but I've run into so many other supports who won't focus on keeping the tank up (and these same tanks are still learning about cover and using their cool downs to stay alive lol) but hey, at least i enjoy Moira so i can play her and have a MUCH easier time. hopefully some changes will be made so she's more viable, but as it stands right now, playing her isn't a fun time for me.

I can agree with the wrecking ball one for sure. I was in a match and we were pretty close to the other team. As soon as I swapped to wrecking ball we started to pull away. It will depend on your team comp but I do love the dive comps. Ball has always been one of my favorites sense the first over watch!

I would argue Moira should be on A-Tier and maybe even S-Tier. She's actually really good, probably the best support behind Zen and Lucio.

I agree here. The buffs to her damage help finish kills amd replenish piss juice fast. Ive won more games with moira than i do with ana this season and shes not my main so that shows shes very good right now

Only in very low ranks maybe. Otherwise she's far away from Zen and Lúcio. Actually I think B+ is too high for her. Healing orb is so painfully weak now to the point that is almost useless, damage orb didn't receive a buff so is also weaker, but you still need to spam them to try to maximize your damage. Self heal didn't receive a buff either and she's way less tank now with people hitting more shots and applying the dps passive, so the flank playstyle is much much harder and she's way weaker in 1v1s. Coal also didn't receive any compensation. No wonder Eskay put her in D tier with Mercy on her list. It was a list for t500 of course, but the higher you climb the worse Moira performs. I think she's one of the characters that will receive some buffs soon.

@@jonathasvieira6414 arx, an EU Moira OTP, has said she’s basically a right click bot right now, and from what I’ve seen I agree. It seems fairly useless to commit much time or resources to healing constantly when taking out an enemy dps probably does more to keep your team alive.

Playing zen last night in ranked, I managed to get a 9k kill streak in overtime with the majority of my team dead. Zen is so strong that I feel they should revert his health back down to 225. The predicted range was diamond 5 (i was masters 3 s8) btw.

The Illari rank is proof Emongg's chat is mostly Silver/Gold players. I have yet to see a useless Illari in my games. The people picking her know how to get elims and do damage. As Awkward says, pressured or dead enemies don't do damage to your team so you don't have to heal as much.

Once you hit Diamond it get challenging for Hog mains if the Heals are amazing on other team. But if the tank players are about even Hog still wins majority of time vs those same tanks mentioned in my last comment.

Feel like this tier list is all over the place. Not in the positioning of the heroes, but because Emongg kept flip flopping between the way he rated them. Ball is S tier because of good Balls with good teams where they build a team around the ball, but ignores how bad Ball is in any rank/any other situation e.g. against a Sombra. But then with other heroes he says you have to think about it in general across every rank. I just clocked that he literally mentions he does this in the video, but I don't think that acknowledging it, but still doing it makes it any better.

Tracer Widow and zen are nightmares of season 9 they just hold everyone hostage in a lobby. I'm not good with widow and the other day a really good widow was on the other team and she was just the administrator of the lobby nobody could do anything we tried every counter but the other team knew she was good and they all pocketed and protected her like crazy

I don't think a numbers tweak will fix mercy in season 9. You need offensive pressure from both supports and mercy's hiding playstyle goes against that. She's heavily affected by the hitbox changes while mostly unable to take advantage of her own larger bullets. Both flying DPS aren't as good in s9 and mercy's breakpoints with ashe, sojourn, etc are less impactful from the health changes. I've been testing out mercy and you just can't get value from sitting behind cover and avoiding damage. I hope they give her a better weapon or rework her rez into a more useful ability in active combat. I'm not complaining that rez is broken, I'm saying that mercy has an empty ability slot that she cannot use for 99% of the game, especially compared to how impactful other supports' cooldowns are. Most of the rezes that are actually possible are in between teamfights, like we win the fight and then I rez ana so she doesn't have to walk from spawn.

Man I’m in plat 3 right now so take this opinion for what you will. Mauga feels the most fun he’s felt play. Three reasons 1. The Ana nade nerf made his timings in the matchup actually playable and the Ana’s timing has to be so much better to punish I feel like i can disengage with shift and reposition quickly to fight 2. The hitbox changes have greatly improved the neutral game poke for me. I’m more able to shoot at squishy characters before my team hard commits to the fight. And focus low squishy targets mid fight 3. His damage feels least effected among the tanks. He was already well overtuned on damage and feels like he generates so much threat frontline.

as a plat Widow, it feels booty rn for me. Yes she can one shot but with dive its super difficult to get away and smg enemies down with the health changes. Yes its easier to hit shots but its harder to fight a winston jumping at me also cant pop off a single time without the enemy insta switching to sombra.

The way i see it tanks that have to rely on heals are cooked rn, especially if they have no way to block damage entirely. Way too easy to apply the dps passive and dump damage on them. Haven't gotten through the vid yet but I think sigma, dva, and winston are probably gonna be the best tanks since they can avoid damage long enough to get healed up.

Tempo. Brawl usually tries to shorten the map and force point a lot where rush is gogogo. Brawl is gonna have Rein or Ram with as staples where rush tends to run Monkey with Moira/Lucio or a comp based around JQ

Is there an equivalent of Tiktok Moira but it is Zen instead? Facebook Zen? I don't know. I have had some games where Zen just DPS the whole game with barely any healing. I had a game where Zen did 2k healing. He claimed that his low healing was because he is Zen, but I think he was just too focused on dealing damage. Keeping your team alive even with 2 healers is already hard enough this season, so being almost the sole healer of the team doesn't help either.

when people say mercy takes no skill, what they mean is mercy players never had to sit in an aim trainer for hundreds of hours like they did because mercy has to focus on macro rather than being carried by aim alone and theyre bitter and jealous about it! im gonig to say that mercy is a lot more fun than a lot of tanks and dps because her mobility!! heroes like zen, hanzo, ana, and widow arent "fun". theyre just a stat check for whoever spent the most time in an aim trainer. i really dont see how people find ana, widow, or zen fun. literally all you do is sit there and left click lol. if you have bad aim, you cant play those characters anyways and youre not going to have a fun time because youll flop and i really dont think they have a place in the game in their current state. if a hero isnt viable in bronze, that hero needs to be reworked. period.

Brig in B is absolute wild. Her "combo" is completely gone from the game. (do you know how many more flail hits you need to kill via "combo"?) Inspire and health pack does nothing at keeping anyone alive in a fight. Ridiculous

it's less about Brig standing alone and more about how strong Brig can be in certain comps. Brig Zen has always been strong because Brig protects Zen and Zen dominates and uses discord. as with a lot of heroes in OW, it's about the synergy and not just because of their individual strengths

theres no way you put hanzo in c tier, hes an absolute beast S+ tier right now. also no way tracer is S, she's at most B. Im not talking about top 500 people here, im talking about the average person. tracer got a nerf if you ask me cause her ttk increased significantly and now she has a much harder time to kill since targets have higher life and so have more time to react. people will say that she got the dps buff but most of the time she already only attacked dps that were not getting healed so this just doesnt help her in most cases

as long as sombra exists ball cannot be in s tier, i think ball can be good in the highest echelons of play, but for the majority of the player base, sombra can literally follow ball around the map, perma hack him, and win the game without shooting a bullet
