I had an eating disorder as a young teen too. It was all about me having something to control. I'd forgotten about many of the specifics until I heard you talking about them, and there are a lot of similarities. Thanks for reminding me about it. I'd almost forgotten about it. It's a great way for me to be sensitive to other people. My respect for you Nick just skyrocketed! I can relate so much with your message. After being 245 pounds and unhappy with the way I saw myself I lost right at 95 pounds by pretty much starving myself and doing a shit of cardio. A very unhealthy way to do so. Along the way I have developed this “relationship” with food that has impacted my life negatively in many ways. I have pushed away many friends and family members that care for me and that want to spend time with me but I have been, and still am, far too concerned with my physical outward appearance. I have allowed that to control my life and it has prevented me from experiencing all the great things that this life has to offer. I believe being healthy both physically and as well as mentally is crucial in order to live a fulfilled life and finding that balance is what we all ultimately strive to do. I just wanted to personally say thank you for your message and I know there are many others who can relate. Never give up and always strive to GO ONE MORE.💯

Nick you just opened my eyes, I used to always feel accomplished when I went to be being super hungry. I just thought that was weight loss. I never realized until watching this video what I did to myself. At 12 I ate about 1100 calories a day and lost about 23lb in a month and a half. My relationship with food isn’t perfect but it is improving. I’m 14 and about 5’6 165 eating 1800-2000 calories a day. I feel much better and my training is much better. I don’t really care if I gain some fat while I’m in puberty, I eat healthy but I’d rather have a little bit of fat than have an ed. I can always cut calories slightly once I finish puberty. Thank you so much for opening my eyes and I give the kid the best of luck on his journey to recovery🙏.

You are in an important stage of your development, eating disorders can have serious long-term physical and mental consequences, seriously. If possible (and what is more mentally healthy) do not count your calories. As long as you get protein in your meals throughout the day, you will progress properly in your training. But try to be flexible, don't strain, and be kind to your body and mind.

I don’t know if you’ll see this comment, but I wanted to say you reached my heart. In middle school I was a fast kid, but I started to strip calories away because I wanted to get skinner. In high school I battled this too, I remember distinctly eating a salad every single day for lunch, every single day, with no dressing. It had tomatoes, egg, Turkey, bacon, etc and I wouldn’t eat anything but the lettuce and grapes tomatoes, and maybe the hard boiled egg white part. I’m in college now and I have been avoiding social situations, I’ve battle macro tracking strictly vs. consistent. I haven’t quite reached that point in my life on consistently because I’m in the army. The army has height and weight standards that have been troubling me since I joined, I’m more muscular which makes me heavier, the army sees me as over weight. I’ve been struggling with how I view myself, and food.

It’s so relatable as a young teen growing up, viewing all these fitness influencers on social media and forming these expectations on what looks “good” when in fact most of it is unrealistic because most are on steroids and they look most shredded during competition season and not actually all year round sustainably. I’ve also gone through this phase counting macros, calories, trying to do intermittent fasting and missing out on social occasions because of “unhealthy food” but really it wasn’t worth it. Getting through mental health issues and injury is not about being motivated, or big huzzahs. It’s about being committed to improvement and doing the things that are right regardless of how you feel emotionally. Life should not be dictated by the way you feel, but dictated by the good you do... good emotions will follow good actions. If you recognized a problem, your already winning the battle guys.

This is huge man. Battled with something very similar myself growing up. Have thought about making a video on it, may one day. In undergrad I did research on male body imagine and it was extremely eye opening. Thank you man for giving it some light.

I can't believe I haven't watched this sooner, but I relate to this so much. I did the same thing at the same age. I related feeling my hip bone to being skinny enough too

Thank you for sharing your story, Nick! Powerful message! I have a very unhealthy relationship with food. I like the idea of being healthy and follow your pages and buy your supplements. I get going but have such a negative relationship with shit food! I have a weakness for fast food due to convenience and just laziness honestly! I’ve gotta find a way to switch that part of my mind off and learn how to change my relationship with food! As a fellow veteran and fellow Texan... I am a huge fan of yours! Keep motivating people and setting the example of the Go One More mindset! All the best, Kimber

Thanks for sharing this story! I can relate to everything you said even touching my hip bone to see if I’m loosing weight. I really hope one day I get to see food differently and not restrict myself all the time. Great content, love your dedication!!!!

Thanks for sharing this. You are a role model for men everywhere, and EDs in men need to be destigmatized. It is much easier as a woman to have these issues recognized, understood, and treated. There is so much shame around it to begin with, I can't imagine trying to come to terms with disordered eating which has historically been attributed to a "women's disease." Thanks for using your platform to help young men everywhere. I watched my brother struggle just as I had and was too afraid to speak up for him for fear of outing myself... he and I both were fortunate enough to find our way out through fitness and sport, but some won't stumble on this solution and may need to hear they are not alone. To this day I have not spoken to him about this, and if he is anything like me, those thoughts still linger and likely always will. Perhaps it's time to out us both. This may not end up being your most popular video, but it will likely be one of your most impactful. Keep up the great work Nick

Thank you Nick. This was the exact message I needed to hear today. I can relate to your content and have experienced similar things in my life. In years to come when I’m asked what influenced my turning point, it will be a privilege to tell them you were the positive push in the right direction. Thank you
