I like it that you’re not an EBay basher. My EBay account is steadily growing. I’m not able to have a niche or pay for a store yet. I have 334 listings with 70 sales of items that are not in high demand. I’m new at this but I can definitely say that your advice of listings every day does make a difference. I’m rebuilding my life at age 75 after having Covid and have to for the time being, sell items from my home and what was in a storage unit. Yes, it’s an everything store for now but treating customers in a little loving yet professional way by carefully packing, shipping on or before expected shipping times and of course communication makes a customer feel valued with the results being fantastic 100% positive feedback with glowing comments! So the point is that even someone like me being elderly, not being in a niche yet with limited resources has massively benefited from your channel. I can only imagine when I’m in a niche how quickly listings will flow and everything else will be expeditiously soar with efficiency. Thank you Chris. 😊👏👏👏👏👏

There are some outside factors that are reducing sales that can easily be offset with some internal actions. 1) Holiday season is over...Christmas bills have arrived and now taxes are on top of our buyers 2) No stimulus this year 3) Overall economic climate is down and creates uncertainty (buyers hold their money) 4) Winter update is in the process of integration. Yes, it is launched but there will be a time of adjustment on the part of sellers and buyers and eBay has to correct accordingly. If you do nothing different you can expect a couple of down months. If you don't want that, a 10-12% increase in your daily listing habits will offset the downturn. Bottom line, acknowledge those thing out of your control and take control of those things that are in your control.

The real face of eBay: Imagine you have a shop at the mall. Everything is nice, you have a nice steady footfall outside your shop and all your items are nicely presented in the shop window. Looks like an ideal spot to sell a lot of merchandise. But as soon as your potential buyers enter your shop to check more closely on an item, they liked at your window, here come 30-40 dudes with placards offering a cheaper price for the same or similar items. The dudes have permission from the mall to do so as they have paid for it. Would your shop survive for long, would you get a lot of transactions? Is it even legal? Probably not. But this is exactly what eBay is doing with every single listing. This is where promoted ads go, into your listing. eBay suggests paying for promotions yourself (This is why they deliberately slow down all the sales, to force you to spend on useless promotions. The problem is, it does not remove all that mess from your listing, it only adds you to your competitor's items (depending on how much you have paid). Also, your item's price needs to be smaller than the competitor's price, otherwise, nobody will choose you. The only winners here are cheap overseas sellers. Regional filters do not work inside the item's listing. Meaning even if somebody found a local retailer, they will get a portion of overseas cheaper offers inside of every listing. It is very tempting to spend less. eBay is a very unfair platform. They use your attractive listing to sell more cheap overseas merchandise. It serves as a gateway. (Copy-paste if you want to spread the word)

Mine stopped automatically too on Saturday!! It's extremely frustrating. Nothing I have done has changed. I got a lowball $4 to CA on a item listed for almost $13 this morning and shipping is flat rate of $7.95, which means If I excepted just to get a sale I would make nothing cause I'm in Ohio. It looks like there's something going on this month, possibly related to the winter updates. My sales were cruising and then hit a wall on Feb 6th. Looks like they are sputtering back to life. Yep, listing regular is key. I was able to do 25/day for months. Had to slow down to 5/day recently. Back up to 10/day now. Heading back to 15/day next week. Everything else has been consistent for my store. When things get slow, I start taking Ebay's advice for offers to see if they give me more traffic. Not sure if it works or not.

I get all of the things you’re saying, and it’s very interesting and informative. But eBay need to be more transparent about what they expect from us as sellers. And they should make it crystal clear that your sales will be effected if you don’t list daily, answer questions etc or have any defects. They’re making us jump through hoops just to be able to scrape a living and they really don’t care about family emergencies etc. In the UK I’m seeing a lot of people defecting to Etsy and Depop etc. and I don’t blame them. Thanks for all of the advice and tips. I really admire your work ethic.

if eBay recommends that I send an offer but I prefer to hold out a while...does that negatively impact my eBay standing? Also, a customer who made two offers then purchased an item, an hour later ask for a cancellation. @@dailyrefinement I am a top-rated seller with zero defects, a 99.6 feedback rating, and consistent same-day shipping. My sales were robust until something just changed a few days ago, and my sales fell off a cliff. Suddenly, even the sponsored listings that I paid up front for have seen a HUGE decline in views. I've also seen an increase in extreme lowball offers, as well as deadbeat buyers who win auctions or accept best offers and then ghost you, forcing you to relist. All of the sellers who are experiencing the same problem can't be wrong. But back to my original point, what you described is an example of market rigging, not a free market. The conditions you posited as the cause of this sudden decline is simply not the case in regard to my store, small though it may be. I was excelling until suddenly... I wasn't. So please don't be so quick to dismiss the difficulties for many of us who continue to provide value and customer service as being self-inflicted.

So basically, if I end and repost 10 items in my store, will it see those posts as 10 new posts? Or will it recognize that it is a reposted item, since it would not increase my total item count overall? Thanks!

George did the relist with older items that had not sold and most probably those items had to have more item specifics added to the listing so that would have improved the listing as well as the relist but this only short term fix. I went to 500 yard sales last summer alone and thrift stores and auctions or online auctions try HI BID website search your area for them. Craigslist might post estate sales or run an add looking to buy out estate sales. Find people that do house clean outs and have a surplus of stuff. Tell everyone you know your looking for unwanted items to buy or get for free. Make business cards for buying items. Find local business that sale clothing that might want to sale you bulk clearance. US$15.10? I can ship cheaper than that from Canada using USPS through a freight forwarder. Usually I charge no more than CAD$10 (about US$8) for USPS First Class anywhere to the lower 48 states (I pay over the counter USPS rates + a small fee for my freight forwarder to truck the parcel over the border). so yes, US$15.10 for First Class is overpriced, especially coming from a US seller who can take advantage of discounted USPS rates directly from eBay.
