127th lol... Goals advice is spot on and works in any earning environment. One thing you haven't mentioned about using multiple platforms is using them without cross listing. Or in other words listing different items on different platforms (advantages/disadvantages). Copying platform advice is spot on too, you sell clothes that are easy to find. I can't source those clothes you find easy in my area, in the midwest. Most clothes get worn out, donation type sourcing is slim pickings from all I've seen.

I am a homeschooling mother of 4 whose husband out his job last September. I launched my ebay selling 2 days after we found out. Being brand new I didn't start out with longterm goals. I just wanted to help us survive. Now I am a top rated seller and I know that I'm good at this. My goals currently are to sell 10 items per day with a net profit of $11.50. We live frugally and that would replace his past income which we were comfortable on. And his future income will be gravy for savings.

Just starting out and I'm finding if I list 10-13 items/day, 7 days a week, I get at least 5 sales consistently each day. My goal is to get that up to 30+ per day, 5 days a week. Jan so far has been a struggle for time/ability with covid going through our home, but I'm confident I can reach and maintain my goal starting in February.
@sdillon46052 жыл бұрын
What happens when you have 1000’s of items not selling because you list way more than you sell? Serious question. I list 5 a day and sell about 1-2 items and my shelves are filling up fast.
@NorthwoodsFlipperShallon2 жыл бұрын
@@sdillon4605 My 30+ goal is a longer term goal and hopefully by that point I will be seen as a top rated seller with history to prove my products/service. Currently I've only received 7 feedback and I hope when my feedback goes up, so does buyer confidence, theoretically making my sales to listed ratio better. When I said at least 5, I meant that's been my minimum daily sales, most days are closer to 8-10 sales. Worst case, I will need to reevaluate my sourcing and do better if sales don't increase as daily listing increases. This is my guess for the future. Like I said, I'm just starting on ebay, but have been an online seller of various goods for years, so we will have to see. What I do need to figure out is how to get more people to want to leave feedback.
@sdillon46052 жыл бұрын
@@NorthwoodsFlipperShallon you could include a note with a QR code to a coupon for your store, I have played with that idea before and it helped me build more feedback. I guess what I’m basically saying is, everyone (including me) are focused on listing more than we sell, at some point I have to liquidate, and no one talks about that.
@cekz51992 жыл бұрын
@@sdillon4605 Could be because some of your items are better than others. Think of it this way an amazing deal will always sell almost immediately after listed or within hours if listed well by a trusted seller. Many will discount items that sit too long looking at date listed. Its better to break even and create space for better items thats why retailers clearance. As long as you dont lose hardly anything. If u focus 1 or 2 niches you will master your items and know if it will sell quickly
@sdillon46052 жыл бұрын
@@cekz5199 thanks for the advice! I am still struggling with the idea of listing things as an “amazing deal” when this means leaving a lot of profit on the table, compared to if I waited longer and priced at more of an average price. I also wonder if once I decide to drop my price into an “amazing deal” range eBay’s algorithm has already decided my item isn’t selling and they should bury my listing. I’m trying to figure the best way to take down old listings and repost them, but I can’t let that take away from sourcing and listing…

It Sunday and I have been working in my garden. Came in to check Chris out and looked on eBay to find I sold 10% of listed stock which is a good days wage. All made possible by carefully selecting what applies to my type of business from the best teacher. Thanks very much.

15 a day every single day! Most days I can easily do more than 15. Others I choose to do less. But I don’t hear anyone talking about the draft bank. You have to use the draft bank so you can consistently list your goal daily!!! Net income before taxes for a month is $3000. That’s 36k a year. Takes only avg 2 to 3 hrs a day for everything. Then I use this side business as Chris says to move money to passive income. I buy real estate for passive income. Have 12 rentals now. Retired at 55. Still doing eBay. Thanks, Chris- I watch all your videos. You are spot on.

I appreciate being reminded to set a listing goal. I often find it hard to focus, especially when feeling overwhelmed. I have a huge death pile. Having a concrete, realistic goal can only help me with that. I also loved it when you said "Don't cross-list." I only sell on eBay and keep thinking I should be cross-listing somewhere else, but I haven't because... hmm, I really don't want to. I have a hard enough time focusing on the one platform as it is. People often say, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket; eBay could shut you down at any time." Well, I first joined eBay in 1999 and they haven't done it to me yet, so... after I set my listing goal, I'll continue with what works for me and focus on eBay. I'm comfortable there. Thanks for this video.
@cathw612 жыл бұрын
I will agree with you on one point, this video killed it! So on the money with your topic! I've been watching you almost a year now, stopping here and there because it didn't apply to me, I'm not a big store, I sell few clothes, no employees. But I didn't stop watching because one piece of advice didn't apply to me, I listened to the advice that did and it's helping me learn and stay motivated and positive! I'm a one person very part time who is still learning. Because of my other job and taking care of a house (just me and my husband but he's a lot of work lol!) I get behind it sidetracked. But I am becoming more focused in setting realistic goals. We have enough to be comfortable but in the last year very part time we've made 5 extra house payments on a 15 year mortgage. That's something to be proud of at 60! So thanks Chris for not always having information I need but having good content, tips, and motivational support. You're the best!

Started reselling on eBay in July 2021. My wife and 11yo son are all about reselling on eBay. Beginning this year we are just staring with listing everyday. We list 5-10 items a day and I have a Ft job. we just list on Saturday and schedule everything fore the week. I have at least 2 weeks of listings ready. During the week we fill orders / ship. Makes easier on me / family

30 listings a day was my all-time record (that was a moment when I needed money to pay the rent). I tried to set a goal to list 5-10 items a day, but it doesn't works for me more than a few days in a row. Some days I prefer to visit parents or friends, some days I'm going to the park with my daughter, some days I'm watching youtube instead of creating listings =)

I plan to list 5x daily average starting two weeks ago for 25x a week. I'm down 60 with a snowstorm coming that will keep me in for a few days. I just got some background setups established and my first listings will all be in the same category, lightweight, and easy to pack. I created my first draft listing a few hours ago then decided to read more fine print from ebay and the bank. I will consider myself successful if I clear $50.00 taxable profit before April 1, 2022. I'm retired and this is hobby selling to get rid of clutter I inherited and have had stored for years without using. I'm treating it like a game and have dropped some online gaming time to do this.

Thank you for your continued excellent information. I's a reminded to keep going forward. I've achieved my goal of listing 15 items a day by the end of January. On the days when life gets hectic I still manage to list five items because I typically batch photos and drafts. I'm still not at the level of income I need, so my goal for February is to get to 20 listings a day. I have a plan in place to get there. Currently, my store items (1200) are in my closet and spilling into the office. A week ago I rented a second storage unit and bought shelves. I'm in the process of moving everything for sale into the unit. Then I can use the office as a processing center to prep, photograph, and after a sale pack items. This clears the mess, clears my mind. It's less convenient, but better in the long run, mentally. My first storage unit is 10x10 and a jumbled mess of items to keep and sell. With the new space in the office, I can bring in 20 items or more a day to process to sale. At the end of February, I'll reassess the situation and process.

I was watching a short video about cross listing. The whole time watching, I was thinking: "why do you want to cross list and take the risk to sell something you only have 1 of at two platforms at the same time?". The "stress" when you sell it at 1 platform and ASAP have to remove it from the other is smashing your focus to pieces in my opinion. You can sell on different platforms, but just do that item wise (or if you have multiple, 1 on each). Focussing on the message screen continuously is a pain in the ass. You divide your day into "pieces". I like that.

I stopped crosslisting because of what you said it made me unorganized when I did now I see why I just do EBay

If only I could have heard this 2 years ago! I did exactly what you are warning about. I bought items that were on the magical BOLO list! Everything you just said is so true, and I know because I did listen to people on KZbin. I am pretty sure I spent way too much money before I even sold anything. Now I'm just trying to sell, just to get it out of my home. It's depressing and I'm overwhelmed. I have proof, from my death pile that has turned into a cemetery. Thankfully I am married to a man that pays all the bills, or else I would be living on the street. Tina

We just created our account. It is going to take us awhile to be able to reach our listing goals. We were going to combine our accounts, I think maybe we should separate our accounts now.

80 20 rule- Man, if 80 percent of what you say didnt apply to my business I would unsubscribe and use my time to watch someone who had 80 percent plus content that did apply to me. our merch is entirely different but 90 plus percent applys:) thanks and btw love the title

Right now it's 7 items a day that are 100+% sell trough that at a minimum double my money. I do this while raising a kid, a full time plus (50 hrs) job, and still find time to spend with the family. Primarily I am focused on paying debt which includes student loans. Hopefully after be able to invest intelligently to retire by the age of 55 with an income that is stable.

I'm not sure why but I sell 10 to 1 on Facebook marketplace vs eBay should I just quit listening on eBay

Thank you for liking my post because I believe eBay is dying compared to the lower fees of other selling platforms. I have decided to pretty much quit list on ebay

Or, we're not stupid, and can actually understand which pieces of advice actually apply to us and our current selling situation.

It's interesting to think about the fact that if you cross-post then your attention is split. I think that can be somewhat true, but maybe focus on 2 and get really good at them.

that's an oxymoron, but I understand. I'd say, do it sequentially, not at the same time. one platform mastered, then add the other, if you must

I prefer to have systems instead of goals but I don't list daily because I'm more of a do a ton all at once kind of person. Do a bunch of cleaning all in one day/week. Same with ebay, car and house repair. I doubt I will ever get to a place where I will have a listing goal but if I do I will.

You're not alone. Same here. Stay focused on your goals, you're get there. There are so may people that aren't willing to do what we do, so pat yourself on the back just for trying.

Chris I absolutely love your passion. You are so right. I hope all the young resellers listen. (I say young because I'm 66yrs old) I sell to put my godson through college because he isn't as fortunate as your lovely daughter, he has a awful father. So congratulation for getting it at a young age. Thank you for all you do for all the resellers out there.

In the Nutshell, if you are selling a lot of items, over 500 listings, commit to one platform. That will save you time and money.

100% incorrect. The smaller you are. The more you can focus.

I have committed to consistently list and post at least 10 items per day onto eBay! I'm currently doing 10 items now. My next short-term goal is to increase it to 15 items per day.
