This is exactly how my store works. I have a 250 store of everything. I list 4 to 5 per day & average 4.3 sales a day at £27 per item. I source items at car boot sales with high ROI & good sell through. I make a full time living off a 250 item store.

I started as an everything store when we were moving. Instead of the traditional “keep it, donate it, trash it” ritual if it wasn’t trash we listed it on eBay. I followed Daily Refinement and after 2 months this “hobby” started paying for itself. Two more months and I was seeing a couple Benjamins EVERY week. Between Chris’s videos and eBay’s analytics you would have to try to fail. Ebay tells you every day what you are doing right and you can read the “tea leaves” and focus on doing more rights than wrongs. I relocated for work so I am starting my store over but I am really excited about it. My goal this time is to be small, profitable, consistent and scale up very incrementally. You CAN do this!

I found Chris back in January of 2022. I started following his listing process and now I’m up to 30 listings a day. I have a person who drafts listings for me and I always have a bank of drafts to pull from. As I continued to follow his recommendations my sales are currently up 56%, Impressions up 32%, click through rate no change, listing page views up 24%, and conversion rate up 1%. Quantity sold up a staggering 97%! Thanks Chris!

Chris, I felt so happy watching this clip. I was thrilled to hear you speak specifically about smaller stores. Due to my severe chronic health issues, I find I can only manage up to five listings a day in each of my stores. In one I sell books - like Mel (Back from Burnout) and the other I sell Plus Size women's clothes and underwear (basically retail arbitrage). Some days I list just one in each. On good days, I take heaps of photos as I find that task quick physically demanding. I am fortunate to have many willing helpers to go to the post office for me which is a fantastic help. I'm so glad to have found channels such as yours and Mel's as I was despairing over ever being able to generate income again and have something to in some small way make up for my lost career. With reselling I can 'work' at any time of day or night. I am teaching my young niece and nephew about reselling so that when they are old enough (or with some adult help in the meantime) they can begin to do this themselves. They love thrifting or "Op Shopping" as we call it in Australia. Op Shop is short for Opportunity Shop. These shops are usually run by charities. I look forward to the day when I can build on what I've started but for now, 200 - 250 items is my limit but my stock turnover in good. Thank you so much for all the wonderful information, encouragement and motivation you provide for us. Reselling has changed my life for the better in my post cancer treatment state. Kind regards, Simmone

I started selling on ebay in 2001 and made enough money to put a downpayment on a house. I was working full time then and had my husband help with the packaging and mailing. I remember my highest gross for one month back in those early days was $36,000. I just started my family and we lived in a small aprtment in NYC. I had inventory stacked to the ceiling and was up until 1 AM listing and answering inquires. I sold only RL shirts, new with tags and designer sunglasses. Somehow I was able to find a distributor that was able to get small quantities of these luxury items each month. I bough all of them every month. I never knew what I would get. Since I lived in NYC, I would go to the designers main flagstores to get the authentications. At one time I was selling steriling silver Gucci cross necklaces. They did not look like anything special , but when you have the name Gucci, they sold very fast. I did this for five years and it just got too much. I was making a ton of money but it was becoming more difficult to source and I never left my daytime job. I did not want to run around looking for boxes to ship Prada shoes. I gave it up and only last year I started to sell again, but lower end items and listing a lot less. It has become more fun without the pressure I had decades ago.

I found my Rhythm in this reselling game. I had to that can work for me with my busy schedule. Besides my full time job working for the county. And being married to a wonderful, beautiful special Lady that need my time and I her's. I'm a artist and a musician. I'm painting 5 days a week and I'm writing music in my studio 5 days a week that I sell. On the weekend I do all my eBay store listings and schedule them to come out the following week each day. I found this schedule to work for me. I'm less stressed and getting my products listed and Im making sells. Everybody's schedule is different in this game we call life. You have to find your rhythm, I found mine.

OMG, this is the best video for a new eBay seller, EVER! Dam! Chris you are a genius. This method will teach new sellers how to eBay properly, without developing bad habits. They will avoid the pitfalls and they are many, which can devastate the individual and could cause them to quit. Chris you are the only KZbin "teacher" that I know of, that is worth their weight in gold.

I sure wish I found Chris last year! I bought items (alot!) instead of starting w my own items. But having health problems and losing my husband, I had a sale thru an online estate sale site. Then sold house. I still had plenty I might been able to start with, but I bought alot of inventory. Now I'm overwhelmed. Hard lesson to choke on. Listing came to a stop. Now listing again! Daily Refinement is great motto! Start small and cheap, learn and improve technique daily.

In my store this might sound silly but I actually give a better deal to buyers with low feedback. I understand that they say low feedback means it could be a scammer. However my thoughts is that the person is new to eBay and I want to give them a good experience. If I give buyers a good experience that's great for all of eBay as a whole! 👊🙌

You forget that some people sell on ebay for different reasons. We are not all trying to grow a business. It can be a hobby or to help declutter your house. To many of these 'information' blogs are all about building a business. Please respect those that are not interested in building a business but just enjoy having a selling hobby.

I bought some stuff. I'm not even to 250 items up yet. I have promised myself to reinvest every penny of sales revenue until I break even with the cost of the initial bank deposit to open a dedicated account, shipping scale, shelf, packing tape, etc. Essentials were necessary. I still have far more than 250 items to list in the house since most of it was inherited usable nice stuff I won't use. Nothing I have purchased would go to waste if I quit online sales today.

This is really great advice ! Instead of telling everyone to go and buy buy buy and fill a room up , and Not even get consistent sales or realize it's not for them and they get stuck with a bunch of crap and wasted time and money ..... Ive been researching for Decades , 80% of the time I know the value within a split second ... I really feel like researching the markets and data is the first thing people should de , as they practice and learn by selling at the same time ... It takes years to develope the strategies, Logistics,. And not every item is created equal , and not every item is going to be as enjoyable to sell as another . Space, Time, Money, Life / Work Balance and Passion .. these must be in order before anything

I feel you were preaching to me as I have struggled to do 5 a day, yet I can do 2 or 3, so my goal is 3 per day with 1 in the bank. I was so busy at work last week that I was unable to list for 2 consecutive days, and because of that, I didn't have a single sale this week.
@aHavenForTheLost
@aHavenForTheLost Жыл бұрын
If I can't list something because I am too busy, I end a listing and relist it. Or I do a sell similar for an item and then end the first listing. It happens only a couple times a month but it works. The algorithm thinks you listed something and I believe it helps.

The unfortunate thing about this video is that I know this is great advice for a beginner only because I have experience now. Great video!

I really appreciate this video, though I disagree with one thing - if a person is listing 10 a day, and selling 5 a day (half), odds are they are pricing their items TOO LOW... but it's ultimately what that individual store decides, and still based on the quality of items being picked. One can ALWAYS come down on price, always discount, or negotiate 'offers' - those are all tools of the business... which allows resellers to maximize their gross profit to cost of storage ratio. Understanding the COST TO PROPERLY STORE and DEAL WITH (both unlisted & unlisted items), SOURCE wisely, and List Responsibly is vital. That inventory system is amazing.

I'm not a new seller and have been only part-time for 20 years on ebay. I love the 250 "free" listings. The best part is that if I come close to going over my limit on listing I cull the herd and take things off are lower dollar and not selling or I cross-post those on Mecari. I made a few sales over there on items that have been sitting on ebay. I also lower prices and send offers to get rid of old inventory. Keeps my store fresh and sales popping.

This information is so validating. Ive watched many of your videos. As a new seller, my goal is to get to 250 listings. I didnt want to start bog. Watching your previous videos, i was overwhelmed with how i would get to 10,000 listings and i dont want to carry that much inventory. This video is so much more relatable. I may be a bog seller someday but for now, i want to concentrate on being a great “boutique “. Making sure every listing and transaction is the best it can be is important. Taking care of the customers well is more manageable when you take the time to grow, not grow too fast. Chris, you said this scalable plan well and makes me feel more centered that this is my beginning plan! Maybe someday ill be at the “table” in Patreon but for now, im small and thats ok!

Awesome video. I'm currently tiny. In the last 90 days I've sold 102 items and am sitting at 94 listings. Recently I was happy to finally reach the 100 listing mark because I kept selling items and it would knock my total down. My COG are really low, but I'm now working on getting my average sale numbers higher. Because my COG is so low, I'm finding I'm taking less per item. That whole fast nickle concept. It's a catch 22 in the long run.

Love it. Chris, this is the only formula that guarantees success. It used to be the standard before planned obsolescence. You mentioned emotional attachment to items. In my experience this is a bigger impediment to success than sellers realize. Maybe you could work with a select group as a test. Have them pick up things that give them an emotional boost. The bigger the better. And then list low or crazy coupons. Accept first lowball offer. Free shipping free returns. Some will feel like they're giving away a baby. Do it over and over intensely until they no longer care. Or they drag it along on their business forever like a Black Hole Patagonia duffel bag full of sand. Great video.

This is exactly what I needed. I've been at the "small seller" level for a few years due to losing motivation & therefore being very inconsistent. It's really frustrating when I see other sellers (who have been selling for a much shorter period than I have) selling more items in a single day than I do in a single month (if I'm having a decent month). Trying to replicate their process hasn't been working for me. Trying to list way more than what I've been selling hasn't been giving me the results I hoped for. I have good products (mostly vintage) & most of the items I have listed are items that other sellers have successfully sold at either the same, slightly higher, or slightly lower prices. I've recently been working on my titles and pictures & I've been seeing some small improvements in the number of sales & a huge increase in impressions from promoting my listings. I don't sell enough to justify opening a store right now. I am in need of a strategy to get on the right path & this is the one I will follow. Luckily, I have plenty of things to sell out of my own home & only go sourcing a few times a year so I'm not spending very much money. Pretty much everything I sell is 100% profit but I want steady sales so I can move on to the next level of selling!

I have 88 listings and none of them are promotional. I make 4-7 sales a day, iv only been doing eBay for 1 week. I spent 5 days straight working till 8 am from 11 am. Is this average or or above average, or absolutely phenomenal

@dailyrefinement Thank you for this. I am researching starting an eBay store to replace my 9 to 5 (major burnout). I have run a business before (in a previous marriage) and know that a solid business plan is essential. You have explained the eBay reseller plan so succinctly and clearly. I feel confident I can implement this plan and I especially like your advice to spend no money until profits allow reinvestment. I have been concerned about the possibility of drowning in clutter, so keeping a manageable amount in an organized manner appeals to me. I do plan to spend a modest amount on some equipment: scale, shipping material, and materials to create a makeshift photography “studio” (white paint and a hook on the wall 😂). I am all about work-life balance and my goal is to find the perfect size small to medium store that allows me to achieve that. Many blessings on all you set your hand to. 🙏

Note: For every 10 listings, sell 5. This can take 1-2 years to learn but worth it. Get this right then you can scale to any size. If you aren't selling, consider price, photos

Thank you!!! I needed this video, so many times watching other youtubers "brag" about how they're killing it and making it seem like they're helping us by showing how much they sold in a day or over a weekend, it was starting to make me feel like a failure, I sell one to two items a week which I thought was great considering I just started my Ebay shop this year. I'm going to implement these techniques and hopefully my shop will do better. Thank you again!!!

OMG. This is exactly how I feel. After I while I just have to click off & watch cute cat videos or something. I've been doing this for a few years off & on precisely because I wasn't having the success these "KZbin" sellers were having. Some of them are making more in 1 month than I earn in an entire year of work. Yeah, it does make you feel like a failure. Now I'm more serious about wanting to make a full-time living doing this. I'm going to focus on listing 5 items max per day & making sure those listings are perfect. I don't need to earn $5000/week. I just want to be happy & financially comfortable!

I'm going to start this plan. Thank you for the good information on the numbers...The key is finding the right item at the right time and that changes daily it seems lately. I also watch for large discounts on smaller items that everyone wants now. That is not easy either...

Key advice. So true! If everyone watched this and adhered to this structure, they would be very happy. Violated this in almost all the ways when starting out, and fixed most of them, so I know, hahaha…gulp! My personal process now is to never buy and never list until I know exactly what shipping will be, and weighing items to include packaging down to the ounce, as I do not offer free shipping for most things. First class USPS is great, if doable, even though insurance could be an issue. Shipping asap with great communication also top of my list, just as you state! You are so correct about daily listing and that attachment to items can become hoarding, so great advice related to emotional detachment! Fine line, as purchasing great items also requires buying what you instinctively like/appreciate as well. For me, researching before sourcing and forcing myself to step back from too many ‘gotta have that’ ‘love this item’ has been key! Thank you very much!🥰

Running my eBay store for 3 years I got 2400 items mostly branded clothing, from the last few months I’m getting losses as the big brands doing 80% off. Selling items below marketplace prices just to cover (small) overheads. My goal was 10 items for 10 profit per day but I’m struggling

I kinda feel like I'm at a halt/in a rut. I pretty much developed a death pile after my first month of sourcing at garage sales. I bought a ton of stuff for very cheap; I only listed 16 out dozens and dozens of items and sold 11 of them for an average of $30 gross profit each. But after deducting the overhead (total sourcing spend + supplies), I'm not left with much profit. I haven't gone sourcing in months because I don't want to add to the pile. I plan to offload as much of my current inventory as possible, as fast as possible and still make a little profit. Then, I can go back to sourcing, this time for quality items.

Thanks for the video Chris I value your knowledge. I have copied some of the things that you say on hear about eBay. I consider myself a small seller because I have a full-time job. But I'm right where I need to be I believe. Currently I have 220 listed and 196 sold. I'm growing the way I want to grow and then one day I'll be full-time.
