It’s so awesome that you had such a close relationship with your grandma. As someone who was also incredibly close with a grandmother, who passed away in 2017, I can wholeheartedly empathize and appreciate your story. Grandmas truly are the best. (Moms aren’t half bad either, ha.) I also genuinely hope the Rays stay in St. Pete or Tampa, even though I am a diehard New York fan. I love baseball, and have family in Bradenton so I’ll always have a soft spot for the Rays… despite the fact you guys are so freaking good typically and always over performing and overcoming a limited budget - frankly, it’s remarkably impressive and certainly commands much respect (even if too many fail to offer it). Thanks for your video and let’s hope for some good baseball in Florida going forward for a very long time. (Forgot to mention that I was at The Trop for Matt Garza’s no-hitter in 2010 vs. the Tigers I think it was, so The Trop will always be a special place to me too.)

Hell Steinbrenner Stadium is alot nicer then the trop. With a seating capacity of over 10k there’s plenty of seats. Plus if they want they could add some seats along both foul lines. The rays average like 13k fans per game so I think this stadium is perfect. It’s all they need.

Im a Red Sox fan and my goal is to travel to every stadium to see them. I had the opportunity to see the Sox play the rays a few weeks before this disaster. I enjoyed my time in that stadium. I didn't mind it. I went with a friend and got excellent seats to see the Red Sox up close. Well the hurricane hit and my friends were like the Trop is destroyed. I literally couldn't believe it. I am grateful for my personal goal of seeing my 23rd stadium. But to know this may be the end is truly heart breaking. I am deeply sorry for this and seeing my hotel where I stayed wasn't destroyed is comforting at least. I really hope something good happens for Rays fans. My heart truly goes out to the Rays fans.

Blue Jays fan here, thanks for sharing your memories of the stadium and your grandma. It hasn't been a historically fun place for my Blue Jays to play but I feel you on your worries about the future of the team. The Ontario Hockey League team I follow has also been poorly attended for years and there's always been that fear it would move out of the area (it has already done a short move since I've begun following), so I know that feeling. I can tell you're a passionate fan and I enjoyed your video a lot. I wish you the best of luck, it sounds like 2025 is going to be a very different year, hope you can adjust well and all the best!

Tropicana field was my second home, All my life I've been In and Out of that building through Heartbreak, Joy, or both. The memory of my loving father rests there, And forever will, He would take me to games on the weekend and I grew to love this magical team. At the end of the day everything will be okay. We still for now have our team, our lives, And each other. ❤

I feel for you Jay. I worked for the Blue Jays for a season in Dunedin and made the drive through the horrible Tampa/St. Pete traffic to The Trop many times to take in games that year. Despite feeling like a warehouse, it had its own unique quality that is hard to explain. You just had to be there. I'm not saying it was a good quality but it was a unique experience and I'll miss it. Out here in Sacramento we're excited to have the A's in town for the next 3-4 (or more) years and I'm especially excited to see to see my Blue Jays when they come to town. You might have to start a mission like Adam did to see the Rays in all of the visiting stadiums. Come on out to Sacramento. We have a a5 bedroom house and only use one of them. You're welcome to crash here for free if you make the trip. San Francisco is close enough to catch a game and then we can road trip to Southern California for the Dodgers, Angles, and San Diego stadiums. Hope things turn out better than expected with the Rays. It will all get resolved eventually one way or another. Hang in there bro, it's going to be a wild ride in Tampa for games.

Man you got me in the feels with this one. Thanks for putting your heart out there and sharing the story about your grandmother. I’m glad you were able to talk to her in her final moments, and I could see how much it meant to you. I can remember when the dome was being built. As many times as I’ve gone to see the Rays play there, I’ve been to other events as well. Storm and Lightning games, a UCF bowl game, and even a Bulls exhibition game when Michael Jordan was there, lots of memories. It’s crazy to think that I may have seen my last game there. I obviously don’t want the team to move, but I thought it was a mistake to put the new stadium right next to the Trop. I would love to see the Rays play in Tampa and see if that helps the attendance. It’s too bad they can’t convert RayJay for baseball. It will be interesting to see how they do at mini Yankee stadium and hope they can get a new permanent home worked out to stay in Tampa Bay.

My wife and I drove by the stadium a couple of days ago and it’s so surreal to see the Trop that way. I’m a Yankee fan and the last game was in 2018 and always enjoyed going to the Trop. I’ve been to other games that weren’t the Yankees. A coach gave my wife a baseball ⚾️ there and now it’s going to have a meaning to her. I feel your pain Jay and when you’re passionate for a team and something like this happens from a storm is heart breaking. You have so many memories there. Not gonna lie it’s going to be odd when the Rays play on the Yankees spring training field. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to see a game due to the decline of my health.

Thanks for this very difficult video to shoot. Your videos from Tropicana Field is what originally got me into this channel being an avid Rays fan. So many great videos you did from there with Adam the Woo, Cris, etc. The estimate I heard is it would take 55.7 million to repair the roof, so as to have it ready for the start of the 2026 season. It does not look like that is going to happen and worse yet as you said it looks like the new stadium deal in St. Pete has fallen through. Hope to God they could build a new stadium in Tampa near Raymond James Stadium where the Bucs play. The possibility of the them moving out of Tampa/St. Pete is just too horrible to contemplate right now.😬

I think the biggest issue is the steep price tag for a new stadium when actually the report said the current stadium is structurally sound and can be fixed for $50 million, thats a lot less than $1 billion. An open air stadium may not be the best thing in Florida also due to the thunderstorms and heat. The current stadium is actually a pretty good stadium. Building a new stadium on the cuirrent site is particularly crazy because it does not solve the location issue. A new stadium wont solve the attendance issue. Its up against spring training and also they don't seem to run regular discounts on tickets. $40+ is a lot to spend. If they ran some specials and promotions and better marketing it might get more people in.

SO you ask to think about my team, well my main team as the Devil Rays are my AL team! On July 14, 1999 they were building Miller Park, coincidentally in the parking lot of the old Brewers County Stadium. It was a very windy day when they were lifting a portion of the 450 ton roof into place when they dropped it as the roof began swinging back and forth causing the crane to collapse. Three workers were killed. It was later determined that they should never have attempted this lift due to the wind but were getting pressure from one of the companies involved in construction. The idea to build Miller Park was VERY controversial and ended up in a recall of a member of the Wisconsin State Senate due to public funding. Due to the disaster, the Brewers had to play in their old stadium for another year. Point of note...the first base side of Miller Park/ AmFam Field is about three feet further into the ground than the third base side, which is why we had so many problems with our roof for years. So that's the story about Miller Park, now AmFam Field. Yes, I did go and watch them demolish County Stadium...the ball park I grew up in watching our Milwaukee Brewers. That said, touching story about your grandmother and truly a blessing that you were able to get that last talk with her before she passed on to the Netherworld. Sorry for the length but you did ask and I felt compelled to share. Thanks for the visit to The Trop! And good on the Yanks for once again showing what a truly graceful ownership they have.

Sorry dude. I feel for you. I used to live in Hartford Connecticut and in 1978 the Hartford civic center roof collapsed due to heavy snow and ice. I felt the way you feel now. Home of the Hartford Whalers NHL TEAM. They played in Springfield Massachusetts for two seasons until they rebuilt it. I’m a huge Red Sox fan. I took in a series there at the Trop last season when the Red Sox swept the rays. I couldn’t believe what a dump. That place is looked like a circus tent. Hope they can build the stadium close by, but it’s not looking good. Maybe it’ll be better in Nashville or possibly Montreal down the road between the rays and the A’s there’s some serious issues with MLB right now. Sorry to hear that your team may have to move away.

We went through this with the Blue Jays during covid with them playing games in Dunedin and then in Buffalo and it was brutal but we got past it and learned we can lose just the same in the old stadium.

Another great video Jay. Never made it out to a rays game, but have always said they would have better attendance if they were in the city of tampa. I hope they figure it out and get to stay in the bay area.

Aw Jay, you’re breaking my heart, I’m so sorry, I live about a half hour south of Philadelphia, I go to a lot of Phillies games, I’d be reacting the same way if it was us. The games mean a lot to me, I’ve been out on disability since May, CBP got me through it, damn, I just feel so bad, hey, I’m always willing to listen, we fans of all teams are with you.

Hey Tampa Jay, I feel so bad for you… your Team is leaving, that really stinks. I’ve only lived down here 2 years, and I’ve gone to 8 games there and I really liked the stadium. But I won’t miss it like you. So sorry.

I'm really sorry about the Tampa Bay stadium, Tampa Jay. I thought that stadium was verily new, from what I saw on Adam The Woo and your videos. Hopefully, they'll get you guys a stadium for your team to play, Tampa Jay. I'm not much of a sports fan, but I'd rather go to one in my home state of Florida! Sending hope to all you Tampa Ray's fans from Arkansas!!❤😔😌

The deal has yet to fall through. Pinellas County Commissioners meeting will be held tomorrow and a potential vote could follow, unless they choose to delay again as they did two weeks ago. It does seem that there is a majority favoring NO on the bonds, but no word about a further vote delay currently. What was reported in the Tampa Bay Times was a mixture of speculation and educated guesses, nothing definite. It becomes definite only when the city and county decide to vote on the bond measures, totaling $600 million.

St. Petersburg has hosted more spring training games than any other city since 1914. All of the legends have played in St. Pete, its rich in baseball history, they should have a baseball history museum here.

As a Yankees fan who's been to plenty of games at the Trop, I always enjoyed the experience. Not a Class A ballpark.. but a solid place to catch a game. Makes me sad to think we may never see baseball in the Trop again..
