5 minutes of driving at Berghem turned out in an engine failure!😨
To be honest, I have no idea what exactly went wrong. The oil to fuel ratio was 1:50 and the water cooling temp was 54°C. That's basically right.
It could have to do something with the gear ratio from the crankshaft to the rear axle (12 : 80), mayby the gear of the axle was to big. We knew we had to change it to a smaller gear, but we wanted to see the difference, so we kept it on there.
It could also have to do something with me, mayby I was flooring it too long/hard.🫣
The engine is second handed, mayby there was already something wrong with it.
Anyways,
I still had a fun day, and the damage could be worse.👍🏻

Pff balen man. Waarschijnlijk was er al iets met de motor aan de hand. Ik zou deze lekker verkopen en toch maar voor een EVO gaan kijken. Die gaan minder snel stuk en gaan veel harder PS: welk jaartal en type aanduiding staan er op je nieuwere carbu? Als het een EVO is is deze namelijk een stukkie sneller

Hey Bram, is wel balen ja. Maar ja. Zou goed kunnen dat er al wat mis mee was ja, misschien zijn we wel gewoon genaaid... Ik stel je advies wel op prijs, voor een EVO kijken is wel een goed idee, maar ik weet niet zo goed of dat hem zo snel gaat worden, vanwege het budget. Hangt er denk ook een beetje vanaf hoeveel de schade gaat kosten enzo. Ik zou niet weten wat er precies op de carb staat, maar dit is wat ik zie: VHSB 34 OS - 10 - F0 Het enige verschil met mijn ouwe lijkt wel de plek van de stelschroef.

It is possible that the new carburetor had a jet and needle setting that was too lean for the engine which could've caused the failure. I am also wondering on how many hours the engine had on it because you HAVE to do rebuilds on it every so often hours. PS: Not to sure if you know or not, just wanna look out for you just in case, but breaking the seals and opening the Rotax engine is illegal if you want to race. If you're just opening it to assess the damage and plan to not put it back together it is fine. Just wanted to let you know that in case you didn't. Hey man, thanks a lot for your support and the tips! I really apreciate it!!😁 Yeah, it could have something to do with the carburetor, mayby it was set to pour. We think it could also have to do something with the oil to fuel ratio, lots of people told us 1:50 should be fine. But the person who is going renovate it, told us 1:40 or 1:35 is better. So that could be it aswell... My engine isn't sealed for races, but I apreciate that you told me though! Again, thanks a lot for your support, and the tips!!

I’m always running the engine at 1:30 this keeps the engine clean and in good shape. This is like 170ml oil on 5l petrol. Just make sure so clean your powervalve slide a bit more often. And measure your jets, because there is a lot of difference between the jets

@@Racing_Milan no worries at all. I run 50:1 ratio for my engine because that is what rotax says. I do only use rotax brand 2 stroke oil though, so it might be different for different oils

@@rm19-racingchannel62 yes I agree. I do run my engine at 50:1 and it works great. Keeping an eye on the jets is a big thing to consider as well

Well, a lot of people said 1:50 should be fine, so we did that. When we brought the engine to a professional for a revision, he told us the best would be a 1:40 or even 1:35 ratio, so i dont really know tbh...

​@@Racing_Milan1:50 is the official measurement, so thats 250ml for 10lt of gas, but that's for the current "evo 2" rotax engines. It used to be 300ml for 10lt with the old rotax engines so maybe you should try that given ur engine is the older style. Then again, a bit more of oil won't do any damage.

@@Racing_Milan Rotax zelf zegt 2% voor races en 3% voor trainen. Tuners alijtd 2 of 3%, afhankelijk van hoe ze de motor bouwen. HEt ligt dus ergens in dit gebied

Cilinder sowieso laten honen, zuiger mee vervangen, drijfstang en lagers van de krukas sowieso laten vervangen incl uitbalanceren van de krukas. Reken maar een 800,- alles bij elkaar. GM-Racing is een goeie maar die zit wat ver bij jou uit de buurt. Als ik je een tip mag geven breng hem naar Kombi kart en laat hem daar gewoon reviseren dan weet je dat die perfect is als je hem terug krijgt. Een non evo is prima om mee te starten, ik heb ook twee jaar gereden met een non evo en het is dat ik nu de kans kreeg om een evo te rijden anders had ik er nu nog mee gereden! Heel veel succes, en ik ben benieuwd wat er verder nog kapot aan is. Ik hoop voor jou dat het mee gaat vallen!

Thx man, gelukkig valt de schade wel mee, alleen de drijfstang is echt stuk. We hadden hem al afgelopen vrijdag naar Dennis van der Spoel gebracht om hem te laten reviseren, we kenden hem al, dus vertrouwen we er wel op dat het straks wel goed moet zijn... Bedankt voor je advies!
