Love it! We appreciate your experience and insight. I know alot of places rush to tell you that you have a bad part with minimal to no actual diagnosing of the problem. Basics first, test, then parts. Kepp 'em coming!!!

That was my exact issue this summer. It ended up being a bad ECM. Diagnosis was made because all injectors were giving an error.

If we were talking about a DT466 Navistar with Huey (spell check won’t let me spell it correctly)I would start by replacing the cam sensor. It goes bad and doesn’t throw a code. I maintained a bunch of these and I lost track of how many times I replaced the cam sensor on the side of the road. They would sometimes last years and sometimes only weeks.

I just want to say thank you. Over the last 2 years I've transitioned from a career in nursing to farming. I've also acquired an RV with a caterpillar 3126 in it. Your knowledge has helped me a lot through the years. I'm replacing my 3126 injector cups this weekend. They have the cooper style sleeves. So that will be fun. I'm very impressed with Caterpillar and their parts/ parts diagrams online. To bad caterpillar doesn't make smaller agi tractors. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Yes, more like this would be nice. Very worthwhile. So, on a Heui system, (Our motor home has a 3126E), if the oil pump suddenly stopped pumping the Heui pump would stop providing the pressure to fire the injectors and the engine would shut off and prevent the engine from running with no oil pressure. A kind of fail safe system. Thanks for posting.

I learned a lot from your channel over the last few years of watching it and I'm so grateful to you. If I ever get some flushing cash, I got a Ben Franklin with your name on it. The video where you don't use a whiz wheel to clean the deck surface of an engine block but rather just use a scraper in a razor and some sandpaper. I took this advice on doing the valve cover gaskets on my 1999 Toyota Solara V6. There was some stain in the aluminum and I remembered your video so I didn't try to dig it out since it was flat and clean. I think it's wonderful you share your knowledge. I like in this video that you try your best to diagnose it but know that you can't pinpoint it without doing the checks.

I'm just beginning to finally grasp the concept of heui engines, I've replaced many a part on old Fords, but never REALLY did the diag. Knew some common failures and their symptoms, so could pretty well take care of small issues. However, I've worked on a metric ton of 5.9 and 8.3 Cummins so got really good with them. Now am working for a heavy truck and equipment dealer/rentals joint. So your videos are proving beyond priceless to help me further my own knowledge brother. I say, keep all of them coming man.

I'm not familiar with CAT HEUI systems, but I have done some work on IH ones. Had a failure with the same symptoms, the pressure regulator was failed/stuck open so pressure wouldn't build. You're right that lube oil has to be there or the HEUI pump won't have oil to pressurize.

Definitely do appreciate it, especially as someone who's sent you an email (and received a very helpful response) that helped me out with my 3126 in the past. I'm not sure what percentage of your questions come from other 3126 owners, but given the popularity of 3126s in RVs that are now owned by people who do their own work, the more 3126 info I can learn the better off I am. Although you might not be happy about the fact that I'm putting 180 degree thermostats in mine, but there's a good reason for it! I promise! 🙂

I had a F-650 with a C-7 that suddenly quit running like someone turned off the key. I checked all the fuses under the hood and under the dash and all the fuses were good. I had it towed to the local Cat dealer and after a few hours of diagnosis they found a bad fuse to the ECM. I explained to them that I already checked all the fuses under the hood and the dash and found that they were all good. The CAT dealer explained to me that there was another fuse in the battery box that was for the ECM. A had a tow bill and 3 hours labor just to find out it was a dollar fuse in a location that I didn't think it belonged. There was another fuse in the battery box for the Alison so I don't believe these fuses were someone's hack job. I believe Ford placed them there.

It just really sucked for me because I never experienced that before. I learned something new that day but I learned it the expensive way. When the Alison acted up on me a couple years later I knew where to go and it didn't cost me a tow that time because that fuse was in the battery box as well. It only cost me a dollar fuse to fix it that time...lol.

@@rrnelsonjr I had a truck in the shop years ago I don’t remember the problem but it took me a week to figure it out it had a crack fuse in the fuse block it would carry enough load to light a test light and read voltage on my meter so out of desperation is visually checked the all the fuses with a flashlight for about the umpteenth hundred time and finally found a small crack in the fuse I couldn’t believe it I kept that fuse in my toolbox for years just because it was that unbelievable
