This video is about my tips on how I [try to] buy for investment.
I feel most safe with brands such as Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton - they are classic, and you can rewind 10-15 years and for all x3, they were desirable then and still are now - so we hope the trend continues :)
I avoid brands that seem to go in and out of favour; Gucci, Givenchy, Fendi for example.
Next; pick a bag from the brand you have chosen that is a classic shape. The longer it's been around the better, IMO.
Some that I feel are safe 'no brainers':
LV: Speedy, Alma, Brea
Chanel : Classic flap
Dior : Lady Dior, or pretty much anything in the classic Cannage pattern

Trends don't work that way. Limited stuff is only hot for that season. If you got it when it came out, then it's hot. After that, it's ''so last week''. No one pays thousands to look dated. Classics don't have that issue. They always sell because they're always in trend.

+KATHYY4 it's true only for some styles. For me, the LV miroir alma bag. I LOVE it! I would pay a high price for that if I could get it. But, for example that Gucci she showed with those hearts? Ummm no thanks. Someone may want it and may want to pay a lot for it but, like the other person said with trends, they're hot and en they're not. So you have to get a little lucky with investing in limited pieces.

The style they got always but the color not (iridescent/holographic/oil spill 😂 don't know how to describe the color) and I think I can sell it for more after a while, because it's rare I guess.. don't want to sell them though.. my first pair of loubies and I'm totally in love 😂

+Selina W i think hermes is the only brand that could have a high enough return to be par as a proper investment - if one has 4 parts to an investment fund than yes for sure a H birkin/kelly could easily be one investment and it could be used + enjoyed too! the key is to diversify with other investments such as stocks that pay dividends, bonds and real estate funds/actual land! i think the LV MC could be a winner too, perhaps waiting until large bags make a come back and sell then!

+SelinaW I sometimes choose my bags, and sometimes they're gifts. I was given a Kelly Lakis and although I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, has very little resell value because of the outside zippers. So, you don't always get to choose. Plus, I'd rather wear a bag until it destroys itself rather than sell it. Only if I'm too bored, and that's not often the case.

Here's the thing with Dior lambskin and patent leather. The Dior lambskin is not as fragile as Chanel lambskin. If the scratch is minor one can easily polish it away. Once a year you can bring the bag to Dior and they will clean it and polish it for free and hand it back to you looking like the first day it was purchased. Now hardcore damages, you're out of luck. On the other hand, the patent leather may be hardier, however, once you damage the layer of coating on top of the leather the damage will be quite noticeable and, sadly, unrepairable. You can bring it to Dior, they'll hand you a handkerchief to wipe your tears and tell you to buy a new one. So while it takes a lot to damage patent leather the trade off is that once you do damage it there are no remedies to rectify the damage. But I do agree with Sophie. My patent leather bags still look phenomenal. I just don't find them to be pieces for casual wear compared to lambskin or calf leather. Great collection.Thank you for sharing.

I love watching your videos.I do agree with your investment tips. I had a huge Louis Vuitton collection and had started a collection of Chanel. My husband's health took a nose dive at 50 and it hit us hard. Long story short, he had to go on disability and we had to fight it and have a hearing after three years. I sold my collection and we made it through. I'm starting my collection again. I've had to start with 2- pre loved LV, but I'm excited. So worth the money.

I don't buy handbags as investments. Fashion is too fickle. I buy what I like and enjoy it. I've sold bags when I got bored of them just to get rid of them. There are some bags that I keep for sentimental reasons. I own everything from Dooney to Chanel. Do you buy vintage? I was surprised at how much people are selling vintage Coach bags on eBay and some for a lot more than what was paid for them. I have a few, and one is from the '60s. I'm in the market for a vintage Chanel for my birthday.

The Prada bag suddenly became popular in 2015 and 2016 and Michael Kors even started making bags that looked like dupes of the Prada ones. I have a MK one and I also experienced the rubber lining rubbing off. I'm surprised to hear that the Prada one does that too! Love your video btw! The two Chanel flap bags are gorgeous!

Buying designer bag used to be a good investment but their price have risen so dramatically in recent years (over 70% for certain Chanel bag in the last 5 year) that they are now getting near the point where the too high price are going to negatively affect their sales number. China's demand for luxery good is also in decline, their main market for growth so I don't think that prices are going to continue increasing for this reason.

Chanel boy, Chanel mini flap and Lady Dior are very good investment! Not only they are classic, they are also coloured! Since these colours don't come in every season, I think there are higher chances that people would want to buy it from you (because not a lot of sellers have it). But for now, I think Chanel boy/mini are the exceptions because even the classic black boy/mini are often out of stock. I think the Louis Vuitton Keepall Bandouliere would be a good investment too! Also, you can purchase these classics pre-loved in "almost" perfect condition, so you can save a bit of money (but the value still goes up). If I were you, I would sell the Prada now (before the saffiano lux merges to the pre-loved market). Also, I think your multicolore LV was a good buy because quite a lot of people are looking for the multicolore series after LV decided to discontinue it. Sorry if I come off too opinionated. I really don't mean to be judgmental. I just really like handbags :) (even though the miu miu doesn't wear well, i still think it's a very pretty bag)

You should see about getting the Prada bag repaired. Another youtuber recently had the exact same problem with the smaller version of that bag, and Prada reglazed the bag for free. I think it is a known issue for that bag. I would definitely check out repair options before selling it because you will definitely get more money for the bag if it doesn't have any noticeable issues. I personally avoid Prada bags because their quality has slipped majorly in the last several years. You should potentially look into Balenciaga. They are one of the few bags that actually look better with more wear so they would be a good bag to use that would still sell well. Some people actually prefer buying Bal bags used since they are already 'broken in'.

This Prada and Miu Miu has no value sadly....the trick is to get pre-owned so that the loss has already incurred and born by someone. Sometimes the deal I got is so good that I can sell it back and make money because bags are so expensive in my country. Outlet shopping is also another good idea.

+Niel Wong I fear you are quite correct Niel! ☹️ I don't worry too much with the Miu Miu, because I knew it was a risk when I bought it - but it was one of those bags I just loved, and I really used it and enjoyed it. The Prada is a different story, it's seen only about 2-3 weeks worth of wear, and I don't contemplate using it since! Agreed that a pre-owend could have been a better plan, but, at the time, all of the pre-owned were not that much cheaper than buying new. +Carmel Eden That's what I was thinking the entire time! I hate hearing these girls talk about how expensive bags are an "investment," like no, bih, the stock market is an investment. Your house and education are investments. If you have to be selling your designer items when you "get in a pickle" you probably shouldn't have bought them in the first place. If you simply invest that $2000, then by the time you may need it, it can have more than doubled, or tripled. That's why I watch these videos, to live vicariously through someone else, 'cuz I'd have to be selling my bags anytime I was in a bind.

Because she's flipping her money and making more money out of it in the long run if it's a high resale item. She's essentially getting paid to but the item in the long run. OR it's like she can "rent" the item in a sense and when she gets sick of it she can get her money back by reselling. When you buy cheap items often times you cannot get your money back for it because the resale value is too low. You're throwing money away buying cheap items.

I don't own any luxury brand bag nor do I plan on getting one (they're usually not my style and are too expensive for me), but for some reason this was really interesting. People might look down on girls who buy a lot of luxury bags only to sell them later but if you think about it it is actually a very smart thing to do. People spend, in a cumulative way, thousands of dollars on other things and most of the time they will never get that money back. Loved your video!

Also the Lady Dior wasn't actually made specifically for Diana i don't think? It was first named Chou Chou which meant Favourite and then when the first lady of France gifted it to Diana and when she started using it as her statement and go too bag they re named it to Lady Dior :)
