I'm so happy to hear that! I'm all about textures and feel and wanted that to come across in this series. I think a day outfit totally makes sense for her sailor pajamas! It's giving playing-outside-with-Ruthie-energy!

Thanks for showing us these outfits up close. So funny when you got to Kit in the red Christmas dress. It is adorable but my Mom used to cut my blonde hair like Kit as a kid and dress me in red velvet dresses at Christmas and I never liked it! To this day I’m not a fan of wearing red. Seeing Kit brought it all back. 😂

That's so funny! Red is definitely a difficult color to wear- especially bright Christmas red! I much prefer gold and green outfits for the holidays.

Kit’s Christmas dress was a hand me down from Ruthie, so if it suits dark-haired dolls better, that’s why!

Nice collection of course. My favorite Kit outfit is the gardening overalls outfit which of course goes for big bucks on the secondary market. I don't have Kit or Mary Ellen but appreciate their collections. I'm still working on getting outfits of the dolls I already have. lol

The gardening outfit is so cute! I have it on my list for next year- trying to pace myself 🤣 That totally makes sense about getting outfits for the dolls you have- that's what I'm *mostly* doing as well this year!

@@FixMyAGDoll of the collection you showed like Mary Ellen's ice skating dress. I have the dress and the skates but need the hat scarf and gloves. For kit I love her grey coat. I have the coat but I am looking for the hat and gloves at a good price. I knit and crochet so could make them if I had to. Like you I love Kit in her overalls especially the Hobo ones. Are you planning to get more of their collection as they both have pretty large collections.

@@nailahvenable7989 the skating outfit is absolutely adorable! The accessories can usually be found for a decent price on ebay. I am definitely still collecting for them both. For Kit, I just ordered Ruthie's christmas dress & I am planning on having Kit wear it for Thanksgiving. For Maryellen, I'm hoping to buy the cowboy costume this weekend when I go to the AG Berry event. There is always so much to collect!

Kit’s coat was actually one of her Dad’s old coats cut down to fit her, so even though it’s posh, it’s definitely thrifty. 😊

Yes! I loved that detail from the book. Well and her dad was a car dealer before he lost his job, so it probably was considered a posh coat then too!

I have the full play outfit for Ruthie. I have kits coat I don’t have the hat or mittens either but plan to knit them. I love most of kits outfits and I want to get them. I have kits desk the reporter set and typewriter. It all looks authentic. I love the sailor pajama. Someone said it is more lounge wear Lol. I like Mary Ellen collection but there is so much stuff. I ned the hat and scarf for the ice skating outfit. I like her original school dress.

I don’t like the BF photographer outfit, though. 😂 I like the sweater - that’s fine. The rest of the outfit is hideous and inaccurate because you know it’s supposed to be a separate blouse and skirt instead of one piece. It’s a very toddlerish look and reminds me of outfits in the Bitty Twin line.

You know pink didn’t have such a girly connotation back in the day? Even boys would wear it. I don’t think her meet is necessarily girly or that Kit even hates the color. She just didn’t feel comfortable in the overly frilly bedroom with the canopy bed. Besides, the twin set is lilac - a blend of pink and purple. Kit’s meet doesn’t have to be match matchy. She is a Depression girl - she’s going to wear her cloche hat with various outfits, not just this one. Her hankie will be used every day. I’m sure she has a variety of hankies in various styles that she cycles through. Even I don’t have one hat for every outfit- I wear the same hat regardless of what I’m wearing. Molly gets such a tomboy label based on her very neutral collection, but she’s quite girly. Girl wanted to be Cinderella in a pink dress for Halloween. Can’t judge a book by its cover. 😅

Actually, pink became associated with girls in the 1930s! So I think Kit would have been opposed to it. Kit's family also doesn't start being poor until the first book, so presumably she already had her meet outfit for a while while her parents were middle class. Hence, I think she would have had more coordination!

I love the showing of the outfits but I don't understand why you buy things you are not happy with. I just buy what I like and don't worry about the rest.

Great question! I try not to judge the quality of an outfit until it's actually in my hands. 99% of the time, there is at least one piece of an outfit that I like, so I decide to keep it because it's not worth it to me to resell incomplete outfits. Also, even if I don't like some pieces in one outfit, I often like it when I mix & match with other pieces. Most of the time, my frustration is with the quality versus price trade off, and I don't mind the pieces themselves. I just get annoyed when an outfit is $50+ and is clearly low quality, even if they photograph well and are decently cute.

In the book, Maryellen's mom is working really hard on making Maryellen a bridesmaid dress and she doesn't really have time to help with other projects. So she goes into her sister's closet & pulls her dress. That's why I thought it was odd 😆 this dress isn't technically labeled by AG as her sister's prom dress (I think it's just called the pretty in pink dress), but it matched the description of her sister's prom dress.
