As a 71 year-old man who was an average long-distance runner in the late 60's, I see clearly that Charles' great attitude and winning-after-failure will be a tremendous inspiration to other young (and old!) people pursuing any endeavor. Thanks for sharing, Charles.

You are an inspiration to me! I had a 16:30 2 mile time in my 8th grade year, then went to an 11:06 my ninth grade year with a 17:40 5k! You inspired me to train and work really hard! Next year I hope to break 17 and break 10:30 in the 2 mile. Might not happen but I am happy with just trying to get it!

Loved the final clip! Great video :) I was wondering if you could talk about your diet as a college athlete in one of your future video (how do you manage food in college, do you follow a special diet or not, maybe some advice ?) that would be awesome!

It’s going on the list! I have a super boring diet but it’s still something worth talking about👍🏽

Such an amazing video, Charles! I have been lacking so much motivation to run during these unprecedented times. I am on the XC team in Massachusetts, and I was recently studying my times at our High School Course and wow, I have definitely wished for better times... Anyways, stay safe and healthy during these times!!

This summer is needed and having the opportunity to run, has been a miracle! Today, I only ran 3 short miles, oops! But, this summer, I plan on preparing for the XC Season and running 100 Miles with a steady 6-7 Mile Minute Pace. :))

Hi Charles! Really motivated by you journey. I have a question, I'm 25 years old now, as my current fitness I can run 5k in flat 17 min. I know it's going to be a naive question but still I would ask. So, given my structured training which includes two session per day with the mileage around 140k. How much time (roughly) will it take to break 15 min and then 14min. I'm very dedicated and as motivated as you are. I don't miss any training slot no matter what. Please let me know the ball park that will definitely boost my drive.

How was your transition from Great Britain to America, i myself am from England and my dream is to study in America. Any tips? And how hard was the transition? Love your channel!
@charleshicks4 жыл бұрын
The transition was a little crazy, as can be expected. If you transfer over during the collegiate phase of your life it would probably be a little easier as almost everyone there is coming from somewhere far far away. My biggest tip is just to stay true to yourself, lean into what makes you unique and don't shy away from what makes you stand out! Enjoy the novelty of the experience, it's a once in a lifetime thing. Hope that helped!

I’m fairly new to cross country and I’m trying to brake 20 min do you have any advice for me
@charleshicks4 жыл бұрын
I would recommend settling into a mileage bracket that works best for you. Work with your coach, if you can, to build up in mileage safely while avoiding burnout and overtraining. Staying consistent and healthy takes precedent over everything else!
@urfellowbisexualarmy21174 жыл бұрын
Charles Hicks thanks for the advice

Hey do you know approximately which 3k 5k and 10k times are needed to run for a school like Stanford
@charleshicks4 жыл бұрын
That's a bit of a tough one, there's no real exact answer and it differs from every program. I would suggest reaching out to the coaches of each program you're interested in and opening a discussion there. Realistically though you're probably looking at 8:20- sub 15ish but I honestly can't say for sure 😂
