Hi Kevin. I went home to visit last week and when I saw all the plants growing wild all over in my daughters' aunt's back yard and across the country as we travel I have a whole different appreciation because it reminds me that what some take for granted is what others cherish. So many of these high priced rare plants are what we weed out or pay no mind to back home. You should have seen the huge philodendrons and variegated monsteras just growing wild and climbing trees like nobody's business. All the different sensaverias among others... so I want to thank the plant community for allowing me to be more mindful of the plant environment whenever I go to Jamaica, as we grow up with them all our lives and did not even take real interest until now.

I used to not get the fascination with syngoniums. I think because the common ones available in garden centers all look the same. But then when I really got deep into Plantube, I discovered so many gorgeous plants! I now have 5 varieties and want more! My most recent addition is the Erythrophyllum “Red Arrow” and it’s spectacular. Wendlandii is still on my wishlist. I kind of want a mojito, too if I could find a good deal! All beautiful plants!!!

I heard plants growing in pon have more leaves than those growing in leca or soil. Also, when i propagate in water i try to cover the top with plastic wrap then i poke holes on it and that's where i insert the stems. That rooting method is working faster for me

I used to run a café. If they are proper Espressi, not some Nespresso, then you’re good. Espresso tastes strong, but it isn’t brewed long enough to release a lot of caffeine. I drink about 6 shots per day, my last one after dinner around 7 PM and I usually go to bed around midnight.

I drink coffee throughout the day like 4-5 soy lattes but have switched to decaf coz girl’s getting crazy palpitations😂. Oooh, love the mojitos! I am not lucky with syngoniums. They always get spider mites. Also, do a video on how to grow in pons please…❤️

Haha right?! The moment you hit the palpations, that's when you know you gotta CALM DOWN 😂 I have heard that about syngoniums but I thankfully have not had that issue. I'm still soooo new to Pon. I literally just treat it like a close system of LECA and hope for the best 😂😂 I'm sure there are more qualified people out there ☺️

Hi Kevin! I’m a big fan of your channel! I just got my first syngonium albo rooting in water. The only substrate I have is lechuza pon and soil ( pumice, coco bark/chunks etc that I use for my Hoyas). Because I paid so much and waited so long for the lechuza, I’m tempted to plant it in that. But what is the best substrate to use. I’m not used to caring for syngoniums as I’m a Hoya girl and I’m a bit of an underwaterer. That’s why I’m scared to use soil because I might forget to water and kill my $30- 2 leaf cutting. What’s best for the syngonium? So relieved to see you growing some in pon by the way.

My pride and joy of my plant collection are my syngonium albo and my syngonium erythrophyllum. My erythrophyllum is going BANANAS and I know for a fact that I will be able to propogate a TON off of it this time next year (gonna wait a bit for her to dangle more as I have her growing in a hanging planter)

I work at Starbucks so I can drink out to six ventis a day which have three espresso shots each. That’s 18 espresso shots!!!! I recently switched to decaf for my anxiety lol. It was a lot.

How do you keep your high white Albos from browning? I hear it's a big issue, and I'm a new Albo mom.

Hi Lauren! I don't know if there are any tricks. I personally haven't had issues (maybe because my albo doesn't have a lot of white except for the top leaf) but I know to keep it away from prolonged periods of direct light. I have seen this issue with other variegated plants under a grow light.

My Monstera Aureas variegation does the same thing! The new leafs always come out looking green then slowly turn to a beautiful bright yellow 🥰 I’m just starting to appreciate syngoniums as well I just got a Albo and I found a cool sport variegated Maria at Home Depot 😂

Oh Poland!! I don't know if this means anything to you but I love Tennis and I'm a huge Iga Swiatek fan 🤩. Anyways, I find that anthuriums and hoyas definitely do better in pon vs LECA. That's based on my experience and what I've heard from others. I personally prefer philodendrons and monsteras in LECA and feel like they grow better. Syngoniums and begonias are a toss up.

I've had my first Syngonium (gold butterfly I believe) and every time a fourth leaf blooms the oldest leaf dies :(( does anyone have any tips? Also wondering if anyone has had success with propagating a single leaf? My plant only has one growth point and I'm thinking if I propogate one leaf it will do better?

I'm guessing the syngonium needs more nutrients. The new growth tends to pull from the oldest growth in the form of mobile nutrients. You can definitely propagate by single node/root cuttings. You just need one node. You should watch a few of my syngonium propagation videos.

if you change the water every two days you are slowing down the growth of the roots because the plant produces growth hormones when rooting into the water to help it grow only remove max 40% of the water every 8 to 10 days if not longer

I'm currently trying to source the pink slash and none of the local garden centers in metro Vancouver have it. I found 1 on market place for $100 with 5 leaves... TR Plants has one for $115 but doesn't look super healthy. Do u think that's the current market price? Where else do you suggest procuring one (I'm in Vancouver)

Try Etsy! Make sure you buy from a shop with good reviews and somewhere that’s in Canada so it doesn’t have to go through any type of customs since these guys don’t ship well for long periods. I have seen them cheaper than 100$ but they are still on the pricier side

Yes, yes that is too much coffee 😂 try substituting some tea (still has caffeine) or a chicory/dandelion blend (no caffeine but tastes like coffee). Was a syngonium hater (“was,” past tense). I always thought the leaves were papery and too flimsy. Welp. Went to a local plant store and there was a baby holly for 1.99. Couldn’t help myself. I used to be like, why would I get a syngonium (or anthurium) when I can just get an alocasia? But now I really, really appreciate the differences and subtleties and nuance of these similar looking plants.
