Something that is not related to dreadlocks: I would really be interested in a video about your new life in Norway (probably on your other channel then I guess?) - what is it like for you? What is different to living in the UK? How do you afford it (I heard it's kinda expensive, then again the same thing seems to be true for the UK.. :D)? And is it harder to be a/eat vegan over there? :) Hopefully you didn't already answer all of these questions... :D If so I'm sorry for being inattentive! Also, your dreads are looking good as always. :) Very healthy actually! Greetings from Germany

I have very long dreads, sleeping time became a fun twisted puzzle to extract myself and my husband. I cut the sleeves off of a couple of long sleeve shirts I did not need anymore. The sleeve works perfectly with a headband to keep my dreadies in order while I sleep.

Hell yes, love the Dollylocks Nag Champa shampoo & tightening spray. And the conditioning oil they sell.. it smells so good I get asked what I’m wearing because it’s not a typical perfume fragrance. I believe nag champa is derived from a flower. I use other perfume oils in my hair when I feel like it as well. Always want to smell extra good.

Hi! I have partial dreads right now. I’m a Caucasian lady with blonde straight hair. So keeping my dreads right is my biggest challenge. And I’ve found Alaffia’s Authentic African Black Soap works best for my hair! It comes in a bottle, a pop top or pump, and it’s a liquid/gel. It’s a multi use soap (2 in 1 for hair and body) , with no chemical ingredients, and natural oils, and ethically made! Win-Win... Win! And I use a Turbie to dry! Don’t know if you’ve heard of Turbie’s but they can come in microfiber or terry cloth, but they’re head shaped towels! And I just palm roll. Sometimes I use a crochet hook to bring in kinks or tighten roots or bring in loose hairs at the roots, but I found if I have a good, consistent palm rolling practice - no need for hooks or additional products! ✌🏻❤️

I just discovered this super shampoo bar, it's based on oils so I feel like my dreads and scalp feel so much less dry and itchy. This is definitely my new must have!( if anybody is interested the name of the brand is La Saponaria, and it's the linen oil shampoo) Plus I started making myself a dreadlock cream that I put on time to time to keep my dreadies moisturized. It's basicly aloe vera with almond oil and some essential oils just to have a fancy smell. Give it a good shake and its done ;)

Essentials would be a good shampoo, a hair dryer (only in the colder months), and a sleeve or headband of some kind. I'm REALLY wanting to get a microfiber towel, I just need to make a point to order one. I've checked all the stores in my area and none have anything bigger than a hand towel as far as microfiber goes.

I live by my lush solid shampoo. I use the seanic which smells like the good parts of the beach. And at work i wear a beanie i crochet under my hard hat. Keeps the brewery smell down if my line gets a beer shower. Which isn't as fun as it sounds... When not at work i have a sea salt spray with eucalyptus or tea tree oil and a splash of jojoba. Depating splurging on some other oils. Down side of working where i do... I can't use heavy scents. 😥

My necessary essentials is pretty much the same as yours, my shampoo and hairdryer. (My prefered shampoo is a ginger shampoo from the bodyshop, but i am also a fan of dollylocks products) Afterwards is also have hair oils, refreshing sprays from dollylocks, heat protection spray (for When i blow dry) and i have my hair clipper machine, because i have a dreadhawk with shaved sides :-) And my hair bands... and here in summertime - my Big summerhat, so i don’t get sunburned in my partings and on my shaved scalp 😄 Just a year ago i always slept with things on my hair, but then i saw one of your videos, and decided to just sleep without anything, and my hair locks a lot better now! - the same goes with maintaining! I am pretty much more into neglecting now, and Wow the difference! My hair just seems healthier. I love your videos man! They are a great guide...

Well for me i had my dreadlocks in for about 5/6 mouths now. But shampoos i need i guess the tingle shampoo helps my dreads kinda... but smells nice afterwards so i dont complain about having lint in my hair but its annoying as hell as for drying it i use both airdry and blowdryer... i mostly use a blowdryer to get some water out after i deepy towal around get most of it out after that i mostly let my hair airdry most of the day but at the end of day its mostly already dry out.

So I just got dreads about a week and a half ago and my dreads are really loose at the roots, about 3 inches of loose hair at the bottom. Do I need to start over or is that normal. BTW I've washed my hair twice already and I don't know if thats why its so loose, would appreciate any help 🙏

Anyone else find the Dollylocks shampoos precipitate out some weird white stuff all over the inside of the bottle and surface of the shampoo after a while? I don't know if they're still ok to use. I also find their refreshening spray makes my hair feel horrible and sticky. I feel I've wasted a lot of money on their products as they aren't cheap. I now use the Suma Clear and Simple shampoo which has so few ingredients and leaves nothing on my hair but I'd prefer to find something without SLES. Anyone have any recommendations?

I have baby dreads, two months old, and one thing I am really not happy with is when my hair sheds there is a white bulb at the root and it sticks out of the dread a little and looks sort of like dandruff, gross. (I started my dreads myself because I didn't want them started right at my scalp so I have about 1 inch of hair from my scalp to the starting point of the dreadlock.) Any tips to take care of this or make it less noticeable? My hair is a medium brown color.
@rosecronin89

Sarah Mullis the white dots are the most frustrating thing for me as well. I've been dying with henna to cover them. My hair is dark brown so it doesn't make much difference but it definitely covers the white bulbs.
@sarahbobarah2012

Thanks Amanda! I have some henna dye so I will try popping that on my hair. How often to you dye it and how old are your dreads? I have henna on my hair now and dyed it before doing my dreads and my only concern is washing the dye out. It took a really long time rinsing my un-dreaded hair, I'm nervous what all that rinsing would do to my baby dreads.
@rosecronin89
@rosecronin89 6 жыл бұрын
Sarah Mullis mine are like 2 1/2 years. It definitely takes a lot of rinsing. Last time I thought I got it all out but apparently not because after my hair dried, powder flaked out. The 2nd rinse got it all out though. I know people say not to wash frequently for young dreads but I disagree. I freeformed and washed my hair daily until about the year mark when separating got really hard. As long as you aren't brushing your hair, it will dread.

Technically you can, but whether it would be good for the locks in the long term, I couldn't say for sure as it would depend heavily on which specific shampoo you were using. I have never used any baby shampoos so I can't really advise you there.
