Once setting Utility Mode on, leave it on - don't press the start button. The start button switches Utility Mode off. You need to leave the key in the car as well.

Hey @charlesamery-behr3153, thanks for viewing my video. Yes, I started using the utility mode every time I worked on the vehicle. Subscribe to the Channel

Operator error. Also, once jumped and the car is started put it in utility ( the screen tells you to press 'start') for an hour or so and the traction battery will use the DC to DC converter to charge the 12v DC battery.

Thank you for watching. I wasn't aware that the 12v battery was draining. this happened while I was recording. The DC to DC converter never switched on to charge the 12v which never happened. The solution I figured out is to put the vehicle on utility mode while working on the vehicle.

UPDATE 7/10/2023: NHTSA has opened an investigation into the 2022 Kia EV6, which joins the Hyundai Ioniq 5 under a probe of loss of power during driving. Both EVs have been the subject of owner complaints that power is reduced or lost completely while the vehicle is being driven.

Thank you for viewing my video. Yes I heard about the recall and I received a voluntary recall repair in the mail which I'm still contemplating whether I should get it done or not. I read in the EV6 forum about some owners lost about 50miles range after the part was replaced. Let me know if you own a EV6 or Ioniq5. If you haven't SUBSCRIBE, please do and like my videos.

This unbelievable it happen to me a couple days ago. The battery shouldn’t die! I came out to a dead car. I had to jump it and it’s now ok but this should be happening for an expensive car like this!

I'm sorry you had to experience the 12v battery issues. I'll recommend that you ask the dealership to replace the 12v battery, and that should resolve the issue. I'll recommend you also purchase a jump starter for emergency use just in case I do have an Amazon link for the one I use and still work fine amzn.to/3VR0zNG if it is sold out let me know.

I figured out the problem, well, from my end Either one of these could lead to this problem 1. you left the key near the vehicle 3-7 feet after locking 2. Left the car unlocked, which will not let the high volt bat to charge the small one 3. using too much of the command from the app will drain the battery 4. unlocking the car and locking the car without starting the car. In my opinion, I believe it's #1 and #2

My 2024 hasn't died yet but the yellow charge light on the top of the dash has come on several times during the less than 2 weeks we've had the car. I don't understand why the battery isn't just charged constantly by the HV batt.
@kwhonlyev Жыл бұрын
That means the DC to DC system is working properly. Because the Kia access app and the 4g network and other electronics are running in the background, they do drain the 12v battery. Also, you might have dealership installed accessories like LoJack or GPS tracker that's also draining the battery while the car is off.

@@kwhonlyev Thank you very much for that explanation. I don't have any dealer installed items but I didn't consider those other items. Cheers!

Don’t let your main traction battery drop below 20% below that it does not charge the 12v battery.

Hey @mikebrueton716, thanks for viewing my video. I don't recall the battery dropped below 20% on that day. Inusually, don't let it get that low. The battery was a defective one. I forgot to make a follow-up video after the dealership replaced the 12v battery. SUBSCRIBE to the channel.

@kwhonlyev Both kia and Hyundai fit pretty poor 12 v batteries. On my Kia Soul I replaced the 12 v after 2 years never had any problems since doing this. remember your main battery won't charge your 12v battery if your state of charge is below 20%
