I did it in a similar way, i had 3 categories: 1: Do they have Iron Within AND Iron Without? 2: Do they have the best Primarch? (Perturabo) 3: Are they Iron Warriors?

I have to say this is amazing, I also love spreadsheets how I never thought of a scoring system like this is beyond me! Thank you! I have been sweating over what second army to start at my up coming trip to warhammer world in April. Torn between the defensive play style of death guard and fluff and scheme of armies like emperors children or fists. As an existing blood angels player and having sold a barely played with Dark Angel force to play 2.0 I keep writing off forces like world eaters and night lords due to similar play styles or thousand sons or word Bearers due to the red.

Really helped me out this found it hard to pick myself also. Got it down to 3 legions fists, sons of Horus & word bearers in the end I’m going fists & sons of Horus so I’ve got one loyalist & one heretic. Love the sons paint scheme & their lore. Found fists & word bearers really hard as I love the lore of word bearers but I love sigismund also so I’ll go down the sword brethren route with my fists which just edged it 😅.

30k I was building a Ultramarine (XIII legion), my main issue was I became a little disillusioned when FW stopped making the upgrade parts for MkIV armour. Plus my 40K army was Ultramarines, so painting squads of blue after blue, I moved over to Custodes, so I could play them as both 30k and 40K). For Heresy v2.0, I decided to go Death Guard (XIV legion). I did get conquest magazine which had a Death Guard contingent, so this project is the origin story of my 40K Death Guard army.

This mk 6-ness category is great. I like the beakies, but fielding the majority of my line troopers as beakies vexed me (as an imperial fists player). My personal solution was to use extra mk 3 and 5 heads on the mk 6 bodies. Great process to follow data. Very meta, as 30k was the age of science and reason.

Going into this I'm torn between Dark Angels, Iron Warriors, Iron Hands, and Alpha Legion, with the last 2 being the main contenders in my mind. Will revisit after I've watched and applied this approach.

I am also looking into this. Got the models (not the big boxed set). I am more of a lore monger. I have tons of Mark IV and III plus Terminators, Jetbikes and some Rapiers. Narrowed down to four: World Eaters, White Scars, Emperor's Children and Ultramarines (Top 4).

Unsolicited advice when planning to use different Legions and Tanks...find a nice camo scheme and paint some magnetized drivers in Legion colours and switch the vehicles between your Legions. Has saved me quite some money.

Interesting that Iron Hands we’re so unpopular in the survey. If I ever do a loyalist force, it will definitely be them. The cybernetics are just so cool. The other loyalist forces feel either too generic or too 40k for me. On the flip side, every traitor force really has something that speaks to me, although World Eaters are a bit too one-dimensional in my opinion, even though I love the paint scheme.

I'm currently narrowing down my choice for Legion and Iron Hands really appeal to me. Love the lore and aesthetic. It's a shame Meduson is now a legacy only character as he's a big chunk of my interest. Still I do feel that they're missing something rules wise compared to a lot of other Legions that I can't quite put a finger on. Lack of choices perhaps? The lack of something special for their Revenant Marines could be it. I'm waiting to see what they get when they're eventually covered in an Exemplary Battle.

I guess for me the playstyle and "unique model coolness" really turned things around, I initially was torn between BA and EC, turned out I want to give IF a try because I am not that much into pure assault armies and The templar flair is just awesome. DA are similar but I hate painting black armor. When GW release plastic assault squads I will probably add BAs as a Defenders-of-Terra Ally.

Certainly a lot of that on the Traitor side! I guess World Eaters is the obvious choice although you Sons of Horus and Night Lords would be good too!

I picked 1 of the legions with a plastic primarch as I hate resin too much work so alpha legion he's one of the cheapest plastic primarchs

A simple method for choosing your Horus Heresy's legion: rolls a D20. Compare the number you rolled with the legion's number (so if you roll a 1 do Dark Angels, if you roll a 20, do Alpha Legion). If you roll 2 or 11, reroll.

I'm honestly not sure if anyone else in the area plays HH. I got into it because of a couple of friends (and the minis are awesome). The other guy who has committed is going to play IW. I may have to go more granular. All of them I knew I was interested in before I started the spreadsheet. Rats. Looking at the sheet again, there are _5_ Legions tied at the top. The 4 I liked plus Thousand Sons. Fortunately, one of them is Alpha Legion. I can do what one person suggested, use AL and use everyone else as either my detachment (RoW) or Rewards of Treachery unit. :)

The was a good video but yes the visual side could be way better (even if it's just a generic artwork found on google for each legion for exemple) or you could add some timestamps.

hmm are you me i am both interested in iron hands( they have an awesome scheme withe the oil slick look like on the gorgon termis) and alpha legion and like admech /omnissah stuff , I know we are both alpharius
