Making a comment from Kobe University. Although I have never met you before, I am so glad that you had gone through an exciting journey in Kobe. I hope a lot more people watch this video and come to Kobe Uni as exchange students like you.

It's interesting for me that many people from outsides like Kobe and Osaka instead of Tokyo. I'm glad you to have a good experiences our cultures and Kobe.

Well, I think Tokyo is just very big and touristy. I really liked Kobe because it was more calm, but still you can go to big cities like Osaka :)

Glad you had fun! Thank you for the insight on how things work over there; I'm going for a two semester exchange in Kobe this September and wanted to get a general idea. Tell me if you want me to say hi to someone haha

I hope you have an amazing time in Kobe - it's a beautiful city :) Unfortuantely I think most students will have gone home after one year there, but let me know what teachers you end up having :D

Hi Merete! I am also a student of Aarhus University and am going on exchange to Kobe Uni next semester :) I have been watching your videos on your exchange to Kobe and they have been a great help! I was just wondering how many courses you had to take in order to cover the 30 ECTS? I am looking at taking 7/week, which I think seems like a lot, but what was your experience? How big was the work load for the courses? :)

I was born in Tokyo and used to live in NY but I'am living in Okinawa and slower life with natures and beaches. If I need to go to city like Fukuoka or Taiwan, just an hour to get there. Thanks!

That sounds nice :D I'd love to visit Okinawa some day. Thank you for watching :)

Hello Merete ! :3 Thank you for this video ! I have a question for you : Before arriving in Japan, did Kōbe university demand you to arrive in Osaka Airport on a specific date or were you allowed to arrive when you wanted ? Thank you for your response and continue your videos! you're amazing
@MeretelovesJapan7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenni. Thank you so much :D After getting my acceptance letter I was sent a document that I had to fill out. In this, I had to say where and what date I would arrive in Japan, and I let them know that I would figure it out by myself when I landed in Osaka. There was no demand about arrival, but we were told that there was a date where our tutors would help us move into the dorm. That was all, so my friend and I just arrived the day that we wanted :)

Great video merete :) I've got some questions! Did you apply to Kobe university or is it a partner-university of your university in aarhus? Did you get a scholarship or did you just save some money and went there? Thank you so much for your videos :) Greetings, Tim

Hello! I really want to study abroad in Japan for a semester, but the problem is my school doesn’t have an exchange program to the university that I want to go to (Waseda University). Is it possible to study in Waseda University and transfer the credits I got there back to my home uni? Was Kobe university part of a program back at your home uni? Thank you! :)
@MeretelovesJapan6 жыл бұрын
I think it's possible, but you'll have to do all the paper work yourself unfortunately. So my advice would be to talk to a counsellor at your uni and talk about what options you have. Kobe University and Aarhus University had an ongoing collaboration so it was easy for me to go to Kobe (which I also wanted) :)
@almazanraven6 жыл бұрын
oh I see, so its much easier to get like accepted if it's a partner university? Is the paperwork too much? Hehe, I actually studied abroad for in Japan for a year with through AFS program. And the paperwork wasn't too much for me lol. But yeah, I will just talk to the study abroad counselor and hope that they can actually help me with the applications and stuff. :)

Hi there! I'm going to Kobe next year for exchange! I'm looking at the English courses and it shows that there are different levels (for example year 1, 2, 3, 4, Masters, and PhD). I am in my undergrad at my university in Canada, but do you know if I will be able to take courses that are considered the Master's level?
@MeretelovesJapan7 жыл бұрын
Hi! Good luck on your studies in Kobe :D If I remember correctly, I think you can participate all courses. Whether you can receive credits for the courses depends on your home university, but I don't think it'll be a problem if you want to participate courses in a higher level :)

When did you go to japan? I wanted to go study abroad too, but I don't really know when to go, like during the summer time. One more question. What exchange program did you go with?
@MeretelovesJapan6 жыл бұрын
I went during the autumn semester. I really recommend that. It was so pretty and it wasn't too hot at all. It was a bit chilly in winter though :P I went with the individual exchange program - I think most people did :)

Hey, as you mentioned working on your thesis, does that mean you did a post-graduate course? Or maybe it works differently, than in Australia. We really only have to write a thesis in Masters or Phd courses. I am interested because I would love to do a higher-ed course in Japan, but don't want to do anything lower than what I already have.
@MeretelovesJapan7 жыл бұрын
Hi, I participated in a special set up course. A lot of university students who go on exchange do that so that the courses fit into the frame of their home university. For me, I could freely pick some courses at university and then get them transferred later. So my master's thesis was actually for my own university, but I conducted fieldwork for my thesis while I was there.
@keenbert7 жыл бұрын
That sounds awesome! Good work! :D Thanks for replying. :)
@MeretelovesJapan7 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) I've been a bit busy lately so that's why my answer is a bit late. Are you planing to study in Japan?
@keenbert7 жыл бұрын
That's okay. :) I'm going over for a short study trip (6 weeks), but if I find it suits me I might go over for longer. It would be fun to do part of a research based Masters or a Doctorate in Japan. I'm going to visit a friend in Kobe just before I start my course too. :D

Hi, I love your vlogs, they are useful. I am coming to study an exchange semester in Kobe uni this fall. So I wonder if you applied for any scholarship, like JASSO? Do you know about the process? I really appreciate your help :)
@MeretelovesJapan7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much ^^ Yes, I actually made a video about this a year or so ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/enbKiWujlNeDgas I talk a bit about JASSO, but if you have any questions after the video, please let me know :D
@ohongngoc97917 жыл бұрын
Yes, I had already watched most of your videos but I hardly find any information about applying for scholarship like JASSO. I had done the first application yet. I am really confused how to apply
@MeretelovesJapan7 жыл бұрын
Well, I think you have to apply through your university. That was what I did. Our international coordinator sent me a paper to fill out (which was the application), and then I was informed that I would receive it. They will inform you about more details at Kobe University :)
