At first I was super happy but then when I thought about being 16 hours away from my family, experiencing homesickness and not having a community I can relate to I started feeling down and really wonder if I wanted to do this but you hoenstly have reignited my hope and I'm going to do some more research. it really depends on what you're looking for! there's a lot of great schools that you can study abroad in japan. if you wanted to be in an environment where there's more culture / nature, i would recommend schools in kyoto (kyoto univeristy, doshisha university, ritsumeikan uni, etc.) if you were looking for more of a city vibe, then tokyo is your place (waseda, keio, sophia, etc).

Is it tough to take a year worth of classes in Japan with minimal japanese? I’m specifically looking towards Waseda. Also where did you meet your japanese friends? Im comfortable talking to new people but I feel like the language barrier will be quite tough

hi, from other videos i’ve seen i believe some japanese universities offer classes in english, unless you’d like to take your courses in japanese. ive watched some of kemushichan’s videos and i believe she has taken classes in japanese so if you’re interested maybe you can check out some of her videos! you’d probably need to have a strong japanese foundation however i’m not 100% sure. i wish you luck :D

hi katz! like how nya mentioned, there are a number of classes offered only in english (esp if you go to the international departments.. SILS at waseda is all english too!). i met most of my japanese friends on campus! it's def hard to interact with non-international students as an international student, but if you join clubs and sports teams, it's much easier to meet japanese students! the language barrier is def athing, but you'd be surprised by how much english japanese students can speak too (esp if you meet them at college!)
