Hey guys, here is how my latest paper quilling project turned out! So happy I could complete it! It's probably my 5th bowl I've made in my history of doing quilling. I make them rarely, maybe one per year or even rarer, whenever I miss making one or whenever I have someone in mind to gift it to :). About a month or so ago I bought a small glass bowl (I think from Ikea, if I remember correctly) because I missed decorating one with paper quilling coils... but the days went by and I totally forgot about my glass bowl, it was just sitting in one of my quilling storage closets. I would only be reminded of it when I opened the closet to put something inside or take something out. And then, again, I would forget about it. But a week or so ago, I set my mind to actually get the glass bowl out of the closet and put it on my table, in my work space area, so I would see it and no longer forget about it ;). And... the rest is history :). The bowl is now finished and I'm excited that I can share the process of making it with you all here on KZbin! I hope it will give you an appetite to maybe try and make something like this yourself! ;) It's pretty rewarding seeing the final result in your hands, after days of work! Have you ever made something similar to this or would you ever like to try? Do share in the comments, I'd love to hear! :)

I made one several years ago but did glue it to a bowl. Made it in a plastic bowl...when dry took bowl out. I like your idea. Mine was done for Christmas candy....love your bright colors.

Thank you so much, Terri! 😊🌀 I've actually put wrapped candy in one of my previous bowls or other small miscellaneous items. It looks so fun and cheery to look at when you set it on a shelf in the house. I've never made a quilling bowl without a glass bowl, I just find that the glass makes it look prettier and definitely sturdier.

Gorgeous Miriam, such a colourful and cheerful project. And a great way to use up all those strips of paper that always seem to be left after a project. I particularly like the idea of doing something like this as you don’t have to think too much about design or being symmetrical but is instead a testament to patience and skill with making really good flat tight coils. I love the way you filled in all the tiny spaces with the smallest of coils. I also like the way you varied how you made the coils, some multicoloured, some single colour and some coiling the two colours together. Lovely piece, well done. 😘❤️

Thank you so much, Orla! 💓 Yes, that is very true, there's no need to think things too much with this project 😁🙈, which makes it easier. The hard part was not giving up on finishing it, SO many coils to make and to find a place fit for each of them! But, it's so rewarding in the end seeing the final result!! That's what usually keeps me going with projects that seem more time-consuming and tedious 😉. I was also on a time limit, so that's what stressed me a bit too, but when you do it at your own pace it's even more fun 😊. I'm happy you enjoyed it! I'm always thrilled with the result of these bowls, they're so cheerful with all those coils! 🌟🌀

This is a very beautiful quilling gift. I also made one last year. It was a birthday gift. She loved it and wanted to know how I made it. But to be honest, Miriam, if I compare my bowl with yours, mine is very ugly 😂 The colors you used and the perfectly rolled tight coils on your bowl made it a priceless artwork! I'm in love with all your art!

Thank you very much, Abi! Don't worry, first time making something is most always not as great as the next time you try to remake it. Looking back at the very first bowl I ever made, I can definitely see a difference in improvement of skills! ;) Practice makes progress, as the saying goes! 👍🏻

Hello Dear Miriam. What a beautiful bowl you made, it's so bright and cheerful to look at. Your talents amaze me with every project you do. I would love to try to make a bowl like this. I think it would be good practice for me making so many coils. It would make a lovely gift. Please may I ask you a question? Do you think I could use mod podge to glue and seal it with or would I need another type of glue instead? Thank you again for sharing your wonderful talents and encouraging your followers. Hope you are having a lovely weekend. Love and hugs. 🙋♀️🌹🌻🌼🌷💖

Hi Coleen, I'm so happy to hear that you liked the making of this bowl! 😊💚 Yes, it's definitely a good practice making all those coils 😁🌀. In regards to your question, I have never used modge podge before so I don't have a specific answer. I've heard others talking about this glue but I myself don't have any experience with it. I think it may work fine if it's a type of glue that becomes transparent once it dries. You can try and see. I wish you a very nice and happy time quilling! I'm sure your bowl will look wonderful! Have a nice day! 😊

@MiriamsQuilling2 жыл бұрын
So happy to hear, Diana! 😊 🌀 I used 3 mm wide paper strips, between 116 and 125 gsm weight. These were normal paper strips bought from stores. You can also find these details in the description of the video, I usually always share over there the materials I use.

This is lovely, I am thinking that I would do one which is all oranges and bright pinks, inspired by a flower in my garden called Lantana Rose Sunrise which is beautiful. going through an orange phase at the moment lol. You could do this without leaving the glass bowl in couldn't you? Use the glass bowl as a mould and then glue the circles on the sides so they stick together and not to the glass then seal as you did and you would have a lighter bowl.
@MiriamsQuilling2 жыл бұрын
That's wonderful, Diane! I was just googling the flower you mentioned (I had never heard of it before), it's really pretty with those colors 😊, so I'm sure the bowl will turn out beautiful! 😉 Wishing you a fun and happy time Quilling! Yes, I think the bowl could be done without sticking the coils to the glass, and using the glass bowl just as a mold like you mentioned. I myself preferred it with the glass bowl, it feels much sturdier and I just love the look of it with the glass 💓.
